Personally, I think this class is awesome. I dance with a Tahitian group, and go to Hot Hula classes here in Hawai'i, and I still sweat a lot. Furthermore, there are a lot of Polynesians in my class, being that I live in Laie, and a lot of us are overweight. Some of the best Tahitian, hula, etc. dancers are overweight, but I think the aim of this class is to lose weight.
Y all da hateration...she actually said it's a COMBINATION of all polynesian dancing...like dtulua said it's all for marketing purposes and when we mention HULA everyone associates this form of dance with polynesian dancing...come on now stop discriminating...why don't u juss holla at her and put in a few requests about the hulaing if ur gonna be all anal about HULA & TAHITIAN booty shaking..geez get a grip...so much for being POLYNESIAN:/
Omg... r u guys seriously gonna get technical with the word HULA??? I'm Tongan and I know it's not HULA but for obvious MARKETING PURPOSES they used HOT HULA because it's catchy and non-polys would be able to recognize the kind of fitness program this is.... geez!
Zumbarose: the "lavalava's" u can get from the islands or order them online but u can also go to the fabric store and get any tropical floral print fabric.
TO be honest it looks mean and all but dat is defenitly not HULA. HULA is something else. dat is wot ue call TAMURE. It should be called HOT HURA. But i dont mind trying it lol
@awekay007 - I'm Hawaiian and thought the same thing as you, until I TRIED it. I recommend that you try it with an open mind, you'll be hooked. It works your large muscles in ways that most people have to use weights for. It's not like dancing at a halau, so it's not necessarily hula by definition, but can you imagine haole people pronouncing, "Let's go to Ori" or "tamure..." Aloha!
wow what a disgrace! I dont know why this class is called HULA and not TAHITIAN!!! this is not HULA at all!!! come down to Hawaii and check out the definition of HULA.
hey what is this second beat called?like where can i find it on youtube?
