Not a big fan of either of these but they are very easy to drink. I prefer the Staropramen when it comes to Czech beers. Drank loads of it when I was in Prague. Great review mate.
@AmzingBeerDrinkngMan Get the cans if possible. Czechvar has a fairly "grassy" aroma and flavor in the bottles -- interesting if that's what you're looking for.
good stuff buddy. im in the uk and can only get the budvar in cans, pu is always in the green bottle, although it is on tap in a few places where i am. im heading over to prague in february with my wife, cant wait to get some fresh stuff, its only a two and a half hour flight for me! apparently the beers from mattuschka and svijani are amazing
@10cutler I've heard really great things about those guys. I'm hoping to get back there this summer and really seek out some of the microbreweries that have opened up even in just the last couple of years since I was there.
@TheEndosymbiosis If you go, check out matuska as mentioned but also Kocour and Strahov.. three good microbreweries.. just got back from prague a few months ago.
@Tantrum777 It's the marketing appeal I think. "Traditional" green bottles and the like.
FWIW I know that Stella Artois is actually sold in brown bottles in Belgium, and only the American export market gets the green ones. When I was in Prague I'd typically buy the canned versions of these beers.
Glad you enjoyed them. Considering they are cans, next time I send something else your way, I can pop one or two in for you without increasing the weight of my parcel too much, just as an extra treat.
@elharlock Cool man. I'm definitely going to mail you a package of stuff to make up for this one. I'm going to be shooting the Oktoberfest and the Kristalweizen in the next few days, and should have them posted next week maybe.

@mrgrimviking I like Staropramen as well. Most people I know who visited Prague weren't fans of that one but I actually preferred it to Budvar.

I have always been disappointed in the Pilsner Urquell in green bottles still looking for Czechvar

I prefer the Czechvar but they are both quality beers. Cheers!

@neoyorke Personal preference. I'm also a fan of Staropramen but lots of people disagree with me on that.

@TheEndosymbiosis I love Staropramen!

Death to green bottles!!!!!
If I ever do see either in cans then I'll pick them up.

@StumpyJoeJr If I were Beer Dictator for life I'd ban green bottle entirely.
