  • 1:13 to 1:24 - get chills in my spine ..

  • The most amazing film I've ever seen. It simply shows the power of friendship, and how time effects a person. When you watch people like Brooks come out of prison, and you realise that prison, a place seen as the worst possible place to be, can actually be called home for many people and freedom can kill a man. It doesn't matter where you are, when you're with friends and people you know well, you are happy.

  • wanne khut film joh

  • By far the best film ever!

  • the best film i have ever seen...of this kind.

  • the movie never answered this question, did he do it?

  • @trevorninja100 no he was framed

  • @trevorninja100 no he didnt

  • Robbins and freeman should have won Oscars for their roles in this movies. Especially, Morgan Freeman!!!!

  • This was a damn good movie. One of my favorite films by the way. Nobody should be trashing it. Nobody!!!!

  • Yes people, this is voted the best movie of all time on IMDB. And I have to agree. Close to 700.000 votes worldwide. It is raw, deep, simple and clever. I can watch it over and over and it still touches me every time. Very rare to see a movie that reaches greater depth than a book. If you haven't seen it, you should.

  • overrated.

  • @akagami23 u just didnt get the morals of the movie.

  • @Zer0nessable How do you know if he didnt? Just because its not his/her favourite film doesnt mean he doesnt understand the morals of the film. Theres so much to take into account when choosing you're favourite film and quite frankly its not the best film ever but its in my top 5. The flaw of the film is that the ending is obvious as hell but its still great :)

  • @Th4DeuSs ;P ur actually right.

  • This must movie and One flew over the Cuckoo's nest are the best movies i have ever watched..... Freeman and Robbins were incredible!!!

  • this had to be the best movie i've ever seen im gonna get the book tomorrow and i don't even like books lol that shows how great it was :)

  • why was the guy killed by the guard? what info did he have that made him get killed by the warden and that other guy..

  • actually now its more like gangs. white gangs and others the guys side anyway

  • Whenever I watch the bit with "He had a walk and a talk that just wasn't normal around here" I just expect Tim Robbins to shout "VAGINA BOOB!"

    Damn it Family Guy :L

  • its like watching minecraft

  • nice movie, funny, i just find out that the worm brooks fed to his bird was originally a live one, but the ASPCA find it was to cruel so they used a dead one.

  • @kamikazebody HQ stands for high quality 420p. It makes things sound and look better. Stupid people who think they're smart.

  • I grew up in Mansfield just a few miles from the old Ohio State Reformatory. It was a fairly large complex consisting of several buildings. This movie actually post-poned impending demolition. All the buidings are gone now except for the castle dracula administration building that you see in most of the exterior shots in the film. The building now sits in the "back yard" of the Mansfield Correctional Institution (MANCI).

  • 1:18 ...Now how does that make you feel?....'cause i'm pleased to be a human being right now!

  • lol you're profoundly stupid :) from 1901 to 2000 it's the 20th century, from 2001 to 2100 it's the 21st century...

I haven't even THOUGHT of the fact that I'll ever have to explain such an elementary thing..........

  • @Bewegungmaffel actually from 1900 till 1999 is 20th and from 2000 till 2099 will be 21st .

you start counting from 0 not 1

  • @shyrobe You're wrong, the 21st century started with 2001. There was no "year zero", the first AD year was year 1. And since centuries have 100 years, the last year of the first century was year 100.

    wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/0_(year)

    Bewegungmaffel had it right.

  • @Bewegungmaffel in fact...your stupid AND ignorant, considering the fact some one told YOU and explaind YOU this "elementary thing" or whatever

  • I CRIED WITH JOY AND HOPE.

  • one hell of a movie but i still think that inception is the best movie of all times

  • HQ = Horrible Quality

  • l <3 this film !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 6 People have no hope

  • the best 19th century movie i have ever seen.....

  • @mynameistoshort sorry,buddy nut it's the 20th century.anyway you are right!The best movie i've ever seen!

  • @vvlad12 the movie was made back 1994 right? so its a 19th century movie

  • @mynameistoshort we are in 2011 and it's the 21st cetury,so in 1994 it was the 20th century.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @vvlad12 but isnt it 19the century considered as 19 hundred years due to the fact that century is equal to 100 years......so that means 1994 still belongs to 19th century and why would you considerd

"nineteen ninety four"(1994) when it doesnt even have 20 in it.............19th century.....19 hunreds.... 1900........... 1994 didnt make it to 2000

  • @mynameistoshort Wow, i have never heard a bigger moron than you. It is called 20th century because at 1900 19 centuries has passed, 1994 is 94 years after 19 centuries... why wud u call it 19th century? 19th century is over. 1900-2000 is 20th century because thats what TAKES PLACE TO REACH 2000........ God what a moron.....

  • @GetOutsideMr 20th century is 2000-2099 for me and dont get piss off, you wont get any credit from teasing anyone

  • @mynameistoshort Why are you disillusioned? Accept reality, get off cloud nine.

  • @mynameistoshort Sad, people as stupid as u exist. But don't worry i accept u the way u are as long as u don't come near 3000 miles near me.

  • @mynameistoshort Your still dumb.

  • @mynameistoshort When the original clock is four minutes short, what does it matter?

  • ah.......dont get piss off or annoyed or anything......its just that im still wondering why people call 2000 as 21st century because in my point of view...........21st means 21 and century would be 100 years....so 21st century for is 2100 years =\

  • @mynameistoshort it's simple.from year 0 to year 2000 there are 2100 years so it's the 21st century.just talking on youtube cant make me angry

  • @vvlad12 2000 minus 2000 is 0. Wow, just wow.

  • @mynameistoshort someone needs a history lesson

  • Excellent film and a humane story.

  • theeeeeeeeeeeeeeee best fucking movie ever made!!!!!

  • Beautiful movie.

  • the 6 dislikes are the warden and 5 guardians.

  • @alexmateiu LOL dont forget the sodomites.

  • It's kinna too bad this had to come out the same year as Forest Gump; otherwise, it might have won an Academy Award or three :-)

  • Absolutely brilliant film and terrific trailer.. a spine shiverer!

  • Even though there is a lot of violence, i think it is one of the greatest movies ever made. Superb acting epecially by lead roles Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman.

  • This and saving private Ryan are amazing films!!!!!!!!!

  • the part at the end when andy and red meet again and hug on the beach always brings a tear to my eye lol

  • "to this day i have no idea what this woman was singing about. Like literally no idea. I don't know what a hallaback girl is. But i have to imagine it's a foul disease ridden thing. That wears too much make up to hide the fact that it's a 47 year old fishdawg."

    -- Cleaveland, Season 8. Amen.

  • Incredible film. Nothing more to say.

  • Thumbs up for the shawshank redemption 2!

  • The one of only 3 films I give a perfect 10/10.

  • @ThePumpkinPals what are the other two?

  • HQ my ass....

  • Insanly AWsome movie!!!!

  • 4 people were framed for murder, sent to Shawshank, and got beat by a guard.

  • If there is a word that can describe this film, that is PERFECTION!

  • Its 1998 not 1994

  • I've just realised: The Last Guardian (a forthcoming PS3 game) also uses this music in its trailer.

  • Love the movie! Especially BROOK!

  • i read the book to this movie. Stephen King is LEGEND.

  • @MrMatto91 There is a book?! I am definately getting it!

But anyways, 9.5/10. What a beautiful film. We don't see these types often anymore.

  • Wonderful movie, awful trailer.

  • a movie that you can watch a hundred times yet never fails to uplift you... truly unforgettable

  • Just saw "The Shawshank Redemption" for the first time. What a great film.

  • @Coldspin I can't say the trailer shows the best of this movie. Don't let it doubt you. Go watch the movie, and you'll never be sorry.

I have it on DVD, definitely a must have ;)

  • amazing . I love it

  • @dan11mmn01 ONE OF your favorites? Hell, this is by far my favorite. Nothing compares.

  • @MiKKA335

To me, the only movie that tops this one is Forrest Gump, but I think that's mostly because I've always been interested in the sixties.

  • @Finstahy Same, I love the 50s and 60s. Forrest Gump is my fourth favourite film.

  • when the old man kills himself i blubber like a baby!!

  • Three things are guaranteed to make a grown man cry:

    1) Geting hit in th balls by an object traveling more than 10 mph

    2) Watching "Comfortably Numb" performed live

    3) Watching this movie.

  • @MaizeRage48

    4. Watching toy story 3

  • @MaizeRage48 5. Forrest Gump

  • @MaizeRage48

I really think this is the best comment I've seen in years. Especially your No 2 I am 100% sure :)

  • @konstantinosmei If you speak from experience about Pink Floyd, words can not express my jealousy. That's so awesome :)

  • @MaizeRage48 hahhaa totally fucking agree

  • @MaizeRage48 wow dude. you really hit the nail on the head with that comment! so right!

  • @MaizeRage48 agree with you. just watched :)

  • @MaizeRage48 What you talking about you mug? LOL I watched this movie and was no wear near crying :/ sort it out you melt

  • @MainManBrad

Wow, yeah, you must be a real tough-guy to have not cried at this movie - fucking hard as nails, I'll bet, as opposed to that absolute pussy MaizeRage for having a sense of sentimentality . Also, may I salute you for your innovative spelling of "nowhere".

  • @Dabs84 Did I say ANYTHING about me being a tough-guy or hard as nails?..Erm...No I didnt LOL Just saying if your a guy and you cried at this movie your a puss simple nothing sad about it :S Just a closet gay....and dont care about spelling mistakes in honesty mate was in a rush :D so SMD peace

  • @MaizeRage48 the green mile will make a grown man cry too...

  • Most films strive for perfection, only a very few achieve it. Shawshank Redemption is one of the greatest movies ever made, sadly Hollywood doesn't make movies like this anymore. But I have "hope" they will someday.

  • The Shawshank Redemption: I Hope! To THRIVE is a great ambition

  • Stephen was when King!

  • I watched "Inception' yesterday and afterwards I thought "Woah, I think this just took over Shawshank as my favourite movie ever'. I went home and watched Shawshank. After watching it, I said to myself "Well, I was wrong. This puts Inception to shame". No doubt the best movie ever made.

  • @MiKKA335 I enjoyed Inception. However, it isn't close to Shawshank. Inception is a big blockbuster. Good, intelligent story with even greater and more impressive special effects. It was epic in scope and I left in awe. However, there is something wonderful in Shawshank that is missing from so many epics; heart. Shawshank isn't big, loud or flashy. Instead, we're drawn to it because of the timeless story and ideals. Shawshank is a gem and my favourite movie of all time.

  • Only thing that keeps me going every day. Hope. Get busy living or get busy dying and that's Goddamn Right! and I don't swear in the lord. But thats the best line ever.

  • I`m going to watch this soon... looks good.

  • horible trailer but a great movie truly a peice of cinimatic art iwas almost put off by the trailer
