Hey you're damn right. Tain is my favorite drummer in whole world. But Tyshawn Sorey is a young genius, literally, working on a music Ph.d. but playing with Fieldwork, Steve Lehman (Travail, Transformation and Flow is awesome) and Steve Coleman. Tyshawn is so creative, but he can swing, funk, slam, make ambient drum music. What a talent.
@kaseyWtrumpet I've heard Ravi a couple of times at Yoshi's in Oakland, CA.. and yeah, you're right, there's a little bit of brecker in there. it's such a damn trip seeing Ravi live... it's the closest I'll ever come to seeing John Coltrane in person. I mean, he just looks like his dad. TRIP!
