  • I have 4.10 gear in my 05 stang and it has thrown the speedometer way off. It shows that I'm going alot faster than I really am. I had it reprogrammed and the problem still exists. Anyone know how to fix this?

  • @joshvsmith I have the Superchips tuner (I think it's the X3). In it there is a place to enter that you have 4.10 gears, but if I remember correctly, you have to do it every time you make a change. Good luck, I did it once and it feels and looks very strange to have the tach and speedo not moving in sync to what it should be.

  • nice stang man. What do you top out at in 4th gear with the 4.10s?

  • @2K9GT Thanks! And you know, I've never topped it out entirely. I've had it to about 125 or so, but she still had quite a bit left.

  • whats your rpm look like around 80mph?

  • @boosted05stang I had to go out and check it! It sits around 2650-2700 RPMS at 80 mph. What are you running?

  • @bradrenfro1974 On my 05 Mustang GT Ive got a Paxton Novi 2200SL supercharger, Manley rods and pistons, steeda one piece driveshaft, ford racing 3.90 gears, straight pipe exhaust, SCT tune with 7lbs of boost (4 since i broke my old trans), and I just ordered 15x10 crager wheels with 27x10-15 Hoosier slicks. My bearings in my rear end are going out and ive been debating on just doing a 4.10 swapp. with 4,000 ft above sea level at 80mph my rpm's are at 2700rpm, so the 4.10's have me iffy.

  • @boosted05stang What do you think of that Novi? 4 lbs is not bad at all, do you know what HP you are running? what trans did you replace it with?

  • @bradrenfro1974 I failed to mention the 8 rib belt and pully swapp... on a sea level dyno pull the car made 485 hp @5lbs of boost with the out the box tune with only the blower before i had any other mods. after the belt and pully swapp, and the internals we were able to hit 575hp with 8 to 10 lbs of boost. The shop went for a 15lb setting but my factory transmission broke a servo, clutch and band. had a guy rebuild the trans and did a fancy chrio freeze deal to the input and output shaft....

  • @bradrenfro1974 ....added a shift kit and the trans held pretty well until about 2 months ago when my car shifted from 2nd into 3rd and i twisted my input shaft snapping it off into my torque converter. A local shop heard about it and offered me a factory trans out of another 05 for 300 and since thats all i had i took it and had the car dialed to just 4lbs( roughly 445-450hp) and adjusted the shift pressure to make this one last, but to answer, i love the paxton, a belt driven turbo....

  • @bradrenfro1974 i see boost at 3k rpm so on the highway i keep my factory mpg and when i get on it ive never had issues hitting 140mph. u would love it, just sux u dont get the whipple whine, but u get a awesome blow off gush! vids of my trans breaking and me hitting 140 are in my vids. look for mustang cruising and transmission snap in my video section. im saving for the streetfighter trans from TCI Auto. $3100 for the trans and 3000rpm stall..and yes, my car is a auto, but i dont miss gears!

  • Riding off into the sunset

  • hope he came back to get you

  • How much of a mpg drop did you see from the swap? My next mod is 4.10's, then set of cams.

  • It dropped probably 2 mpg overall. It really depends on how much highway to city driving you do. Mine is mainly highway, so if I drive it nice I do about the same, but I usually don't!

  • @bradrenfro1974 Thanks for the help. I finally did the swap, best mod I've done besides frpp hot rods. Overall I didn't see a milage drop, which was great. Made the car way more fun to drive for sure.

  • @2strokerider I agree! Hit me up with some vids if you make some!

  • @bradrenfro1974 Alright I will bud!

  • very nice!!!

  • i just got mine in but i dont have a tuner yet. what is your top speed now.

  • With the 4.10 gears it does lower the top speed. I haven't actually topped it out all the way, but from what it looked like at 110-115, I think it would be around 140-145 with all the gearing how it is. Enjoy your stang!

  • how big of a difference did you notice going from the 3.55's to the 4.10's?

  • a LOT, i would say it dropped about 3 tenths from 0-60 times. more difficult tho, is that you have to shift more to get there!

  • yea big difference i ran a 13.3 with stock gears custom tune and a 13.0 with 4.10s and a custom tune. Now i have a lt intake tokico suspension, and o/r exhaust with my 4.10s and i pull 12.8s all day street tires.

  • THAT SOUNDS FUCKIN SEXYYY !! m8 im 16 nd my boss has one nd i told him im gettin 1 no matter what lol AMERICAN MUSCLE !!

  • Thanks man, you should definitely get one, they are worth every penny!!
