  • Nice information my friend. I go to a school here in Tennessee called Fire and Water. We teach Not only 8 styles of Kung Fu, but also Aikido, Judo, Kickboxing, Tai Chi, Chin Na (Which is where you find the Eagle claw system). We teach the Bear, Monkey, Mantis, Crane, Tiger, Snake, Eagle, Dragon, and sometimes the leopard.

  • Leaving off at harnessing( fucking I touch)...Internal energy or chi but the shaolin are the only people who refer to it as chi as far as I know but again I could be wrong and I probably am since chi literally means life energy

  • Nope god damnit...okay so I train myself because I'm all depressed over a girl so to cope with the stress and anxiety I push my body past it's limits and I know about this because I study it before after and during training I feel slightly ignorant though because there are a few more styles that I didn't mention like eagle which is from the temple and then there are various animal styles from different martial arts and each specific martial art also seems to focus on harnessing I German en

  • I just typed so much shit I hope my last post is there

  • i do tiger and mantis

  • he also brought them the secrets of "chi" which they apparently perfected over the centuries and

  • this is so ridiculous i actually had to sign on for this shit why are you making up all of these styles ...the five main styles are mantis, tiger, crane, monkey and snake ...When Bodhidharma came to the shaolin(i dont know how to spell that) templein 527ad........and....drunkenstyles are drunken styles..and again mantis is one of the five animal styles taught by Bodhidharma....and all of the styles are completley based on their own respective animals natural characteristics

  • @TheZyrinx you are 100% right. cant agree more...looks like you know you stuff man. how do you know this?

  • @TheZyrinx Um No! Mantis was NOT one of the styles taught by Bodhidarma. It was developed and taught by Tang Lang. And all the styles this kid mentioned ARE legit styles. Many have never been heard of by westerners, and some are very old and are rarely taught. Bear, is one of those. However the school I attend does teach Bear. You really need to read more, and learn better. Not saying that I know everything, but I know what I know. And you are wrong, sorry.

  • hey where did you get your information about both crane techniques

  • The smell of anime is present

  • good job your reading from a book right you left the frog styles the main five would have been enough though also the eastern chinese monks made eastern praying mantise which focuses on defensive-offensive attacks mostly hooks and pressure point attacks but very well done

  • Kid shut the hell up. Ur more boring than my chemistry teacher

  • @jbwkeez328 there are also the frog, lepard, scorpion thats all i know for now

  • @jbwkeez328 The main ones are tiger, crane, leopard, snake and dragon.

  • woah, i never knew their were som many kung fu styles and variations

  • Thats not nice, I love kung fu. Pluse it is not right to make fun of him!!

  • And here we have the a fighter here by the name of twatweed87...he techniques are being a little bicthand talking the talk instead of walking the walk...also he is weak in every fight....so it suck to be this fighter...which I am talking about you

  • Good job however you forgot a few like Hung Gar which is a tiger crane system. Also Elephant and Lion i'm not a hundred percent on the specifics about them because Sifu doesn't teach them until I reach my black sash

  • i noticed a few inaccuracies where did you get your information?

  • what about wood dragon? is it the same as dragon?

  • is there bat or centipede style

  • is there elephant or rat style?

  • elephant style is the root of a lot of the animals styles there is also a turtle style

  • what are stances of turtle style? and is there shark style?:D

  • is there lion style?

  • yes. there are many styles that are kept secret that most dont know about but yes there is a lion

  • do u know the stances of lion style. oh is there duck kung fu

  • I know how lion practitioners form their fist, but since i dont practice Lion I don't know specific stances. And there is a duck style as well. It's rather awkward looking though....

  • is there bat, or shark kung fu

  • have you been watching cartoons? this all sounds like something my nephew told me. but if you really wish to know more about these styles just message me. Some of these are secret n some would like to keep it that way

  • I will

  • Yea i seen the duck style its amazing and awkward and the guy's forearms are huge so i would guess the style utilizes short range punches for the most of it

  • where is the Horse style.

  • monkey is my fav!

  • that video is kind of weard

  • Well I never heard before bear, bour, bull and deer, but I wish I can see ppl do theses form. xD

But anyway what is the different beetween leopard and snow leopard?

  • as he said the snow leopard protects his frozen paws by striking with elbows and knees instead - i like chinese analogies :)

  • There really is a Bear Style!!!!!

SWEET!!!! I already had my own

Bear Stance. Thanks for the info

    DUDE!

  • where did you attain your info?

  • great video. Knowledgeable kid

  • boar is such a simple style i barely see effort

  • wat the fuck r u talkin bout, the mantis style (espesically seven star) is all bout blocks and counters!!

  • wat is the strongest animal style, if any?

  • ummmmmmm heavenly dove style...it doesnt really matter its the person who uses them

  • I've herd that the Tiger is the

    strongest in Kung Fu, but

    I may be wrong.

  • tiger

  • lol, what the fuq are you reading? re-do this and start with 12/5 shaolin then explain the others like pai ho, seven star etc, do your research and make an original and respectable documentation of chinese martial arts pls

  • Got any demostration vids of the style?

  • I'm actuatlly pretty good at bear, dragon, and white crane styles

  • bour? its boar!

  • Easy... It was a simple mistake...

  • yeah i know. i was just in a hating mood

  • duucccckkeeeeeeerrrrrr

  • Good job little one. I've read some of the post and...it is not the style that makes one great but the individual him or herself. Everybodys talent or understanding level is different. Kuwaimaha I'm impressed by your post. I've trained in two different styles of Dragon. Shaolin Dragon and the Wudan, as well as Tiger, Northern Mantis, leopard, and Crane. It is only effective if you Train, Understand, and Believe in the technique.

  • i truly love researching the styles of certain animals and how they reflect there counter parts, is northern mantis just called northern mantis or is it called wah lum?

i train in wah lum and that is why i am curious. i have heard of 7 step, 5 star, wah lum, southern, and northern. they are all mantis styles or techniques and it gets confusing.

  • i can name some styles you forgot but i say grats for getting the main, their is also centipede, (requires ab strength spinning movement occur alot with punches & kicks its very rare and hardly ever seen but exists, eel except has more flicking motions and more kicks, dog unpredictable like the drunk or monkey but involves also alot of leaps. i do not know about the mantis exact styles because i think another name for northern is wah lum and their is another style (which is tthe basis) tong long

  • chow gar

  • dragon is a lost art my freind, but their has been recreation of it.

  • oh yer and elephant

  • u dick u forgot duck, chicken and dog

  • My opinion of TKD is that the sport style is pretty useless in real life, but the authentic style is very usefull.

Also if your a surgeon or a chef, or in some other professon where nerve damage to your hands (causing shaking/unsteadyness) would prevent you from working them TDK's wid range of kick techniques would be the ideal why to protect yourself.

  • The thing i hate most about some people is that they know to much when they are not ready.

If anyone here has ever seen Forbidden Kingdom

Jackie Chan says something that is so true

"How can you fill your cup if it is already full"

I'm studying Kung Fu now and prefer to encounter these styles, when my Sifu feels i am ready.

And i doubt anybody here has studied all of these styles in depth.

  • DIE IN A HOUSE FIRE

  • wheres the cat the bat the rat.....& toad or frog styles? I would love to learn deer style! or the cat the bat or rat! YAYS!!!! I enjoyed your vid thx! I had no clue there was THIS many animal styles! I wuv animals! I have a kitty 2 rats and a bunneh! do the have bunny or hare style? that would be awesome! or raccoon or fox!? OWL!!! thad be AWESOME too!

  • i learn five animal kung fu! monkey, crane, snake, tiger, dragon

    it's very cool and fun!

  • Comment removed

  • black tiger style is of course a branch of tiger kung fu the only difference is black tiger focuses more on the srength of the strike rather than the powerof the strike.

  • anyone heard of...BLACK TIGER style? if so could you post about it?

  • i love the bear style =D

  • Xióng Chuan

The bear is the most basic of fighting animal motions. It uses the most basic principles of body physics to great speed and power. Linear centerline shifts and direct line reinforcement are characteristics of the bear.

  • haha i'll be studying panther on monday.

    hellz yeah.

  • Informative video... but somehow I feel like you don't actually know much about kung fu animal styles at all. Is this based on internet research, or have you actually seen these styles?

  • Tiger style, snake, crane, I have seen first hand, and remember this movie is old, over the years I have refined my research, but haven't had the time to redo the movie

  • hugz04drugsz0 i hear there is a wolf style

(i want to learn it myself)but it is not very popular in china.Great vid!

  • My style is monkey:)

  • thanks super video

  • theres a lot of kung fu styles you have to pick the right1 for your body type

  • Boar is my style because that is me...

  • The chinese dragon hasn't ailes....The dragon has ailes look like a lizard

  • wht is wolf style cuz like i was some thing on tv and was like i wish there was some kinda wolf style but there arnt any wolves in chinaland

  • My favorite style is Mantis.

  • It would be cooler if you showed the animals, then the fighting stance or something. Also, there is frog, dog, lion, I think wolf, and rat from what I've read somewhere.

  • i choose cobra

  • You should feel responsible cause he died

  • mine as well, that is why I am learning it

  • the dragon [Pic] should of been and eastern [serpentesque]Dragon, its based off that, not the movement of a Western Dragon [lizard like]

  • i tooks jujutsu do combatent jujit best is dragon i face one in my class he kicked my ass

  • i the white crane not a part of the crane, like drunken monkey, laste monkey, stone monkey woud monkey and sea monkey.

Any way great to know this

  • you did studer alot but u did put effort into it so i gotta give you credit for that

  • Kung-fu is mostly about breathin; for instance after ever form you do a series of breathing to show that the form didn't make you tired. Also the most breathin includes the tiger and the panther.

  • thx big help

  • which style is best for me?

i have very good balance but tend to hold my breath.

What styles do not focus on proper breathing?

  • Lol

My friend, breathing is a necessity of life. If you can't control your breathing now, you'll have a hard time in EVERY Martial Art. Any style will help you learn how to breath properly (provided you have a good teacher), but it takes DISCIPLINE and COMMITMENT.

You could be optimistic and try them all one by one, starting with Eight Step Mantis.

  • ^_^ All styles focus on proper breathing. Do you want to stop breathing? Apologies, but you will have to deal with that with any martial art you chose, Kung Fu or not. Try Hung Gar, maybe. It's a combination of Crane and Tiger, and was created by a Shaolin Monk during the Ch'ing Dynasty. The crane should help put the balance to good use, while the tiger should help you learn of the opposite and help with breathing and tenacity.

  • weel perhaps crane...tiger is pritty good also and dragon

  • nice video

  • are there any fighting in it.

  • which is best for me

  • the drunken monkey is actually called Drunken Master Walk or Drunken Fist : ) I do that and also Snake form : ) Tis good good

  • No drunken fist and drunken monkey are different styles.

  • I am medium low strong but am extremly flexable almost like a proformer. i can learn quick (at least TKD wushu) i dont block much i dodge. although my arms cant get stronger no matter how i try ( i tried many times) my legs are strong and make up mostly my strength that why i do taekwondo and wushu. and im a buddist. i dont like to eat to much so i can see my chest bones a little.

  • which is best for me.

  • snake is probably best for your lower body strength and flexibility

  • what kind of kung fu would be good 4 me? i am quick, can block many attacks, focus on slow, strong kicks and fast punches. i am somewhat flexible. wat is good 4 me?

  • i would say snow leopard but you do need to give more detail about tour abilities

  • What do you mean by tour abilities. Do you mean nagation?

  • i think he meant your

  • aight im pretty flexible, can run fast, sneaky quick at dodging but sometimes i block, use a fist for fighting but sometimes the pointer and middle fingers. i use many high kicks and low punches, fast punches, and mostly slow kicks, but sometimes fast. i only use my elbows and never use my knees. i rarely use my elbows and only if i am hurt a lot. my strenghth is well balanced throughout my body, and my strenghth is pretty average, but i can push my body to the limit, and that gives me strength

  • i combine jeet kune do, bruce lees, and monkey style, and practice it every day

  • ummm im fast stealthful strong moderately sized person and can leap very far.I am not however flexible nor am i a fast attacker. Which would be best suited for me?

  • a cobra

  • Leapord, snow leapord, or tiger

  • Good work and very well done.

  • Wheres Toad style??

    I do 8 step mantis

  • southern mantis sounds like wing chun from what he's saying (not about stances or blocking, but the actual hitting) is this true?

  • i am a small fast and stealthfl person what animal would be recomended for me? i always wondered

  • either snake style or leopard (panther) style

both styles utilize speed, but the leopard is more a style of surprise attacks and ending the fight quickly

    id suggest leopard

  • I'd learn the Praying Mantis or Drunken Fist if I could... :p

  • you forget lion

  • I'm not sure if the Chinese had ever seen a Lion before, aren't they native to Africa? I could be wrong .

  • there is no lion

  • or monks might have traveled to india where there is leons. like they traveled to the komodo islands to learn dragon style

  • thats asuming they didn't learn from real dragons.

  • it's done by learning from retiles like the komodo dragon or the chinese alligator

  • how do you know? were you there when they were created? Whos to say dragons didn't exist at one point.

  • in one martail arts documentary. also i do believe that dragons are real

  • @yashamaru2

    Ure the biggest idiot alive

  • If you don't have anything significant to add then be quiet and don't waste my time.

  • @yashamaru2

The closest animal that is describe as a dragon is a Kimono dragon.

  • Did you mean Komodo dragon? and no that is a lizard and doesn't match up with historical descriptions of asian dragons, not to mention that they don't live in china.

  • ya there is no lion

  • there could be, lion's used to live in India and India is where the southeast asian martial arts originated.

  • That was very interesting and very educational, nice choice of pictures too

  • where are rat, wolf and lion forms?

  • Hmm. Judging from the description, I'd say that Wing Chun took a lot of Southern Mantis and improved it.

  • ...in 2:50...is George W.

  • Im starting a new style based on the alligator forms and the animal itself, btw where did you get your info?

  • did u watch watch the video, there is scropion in there so read and watch

  • Why did you take so long with the bug (mantis) and the monkey?

  • Those are some of the more popular styles.
