  • Top Gear has tested both of these cars, anyway - and liked them both. There's something about the MG's chassis and handling that had Jeremy grinning like more of a loon than usual.

  • LS1 baby

  • I like my car to be fun and id take the Holden anyday, this is coming from a Ford fan too

  • Saw a ~Vauxhall Monaro in the car park outside where I work today with Holden badges stuck all over it. Waited for ages to see if the owner was around, no luck. When I got off my shift it was gone. =(

  • The outcome was obvious but i still prefer the MG. Has more character.

  • I thought the Vauxhall Monaro looked like a HSV Coupe not a standard Monaro

  • @tadpole5555 It's meant to be. All Holden-derived Vauxhalls tent to be based upon the HSV versions. The VXR8 is literally a Club Sport R8 with Vauxhall badges

  • Outcome was pretty obvious - matter of opinion but personally I think the MG is bloody ugly and the interior is hideous! The vents etc in the console/dash are the ugly cherry on top for me...

  • Ummm... 100kg less, 900cc more, and 64bhp more? Also, sporting estate vs "muscle car"... No wonder it won.

  • the newer monaro, the vxr500 is even better

  • Just love this car. It's a damn shame they don't stick the Opel badge on them and ship them upwards.

  • you're completely right Noavaileblenames, what an amazing and beautiful car!

  • Yeh but mate, the Monaro is not made by Vauxhall, its actually a Holden so that makes it Australian (quote Top Gear) and that means that the monaro will probobly last forever!!

  • lol i agree completely

  • the car maybe aussie and its cool, but now that i seen the coupe 60 concept monaro it looks a little dated , but that big ass v8 is straight out of yanky land if your gonna get one of these then you gotta spend the extra few thousand for the far superior hsv models

  • You guys will love the Vauxhall VXR8. Another Aussie made V8 tyre smoke machine :D

  • id have the vauxhall any day!

im british and over here we tend to still call it a holden even though it has a vauxhall badge.

big up australia and there wicked muscle cars!

  • If you like this check out the Vauxhall VXR500. Supercharged monaro with 500bhp!

  • Both fantastic cars. I'd have the MG by choice, shame you can't get them anymore except cheap crap chinese versions :-(

  • btw i hate how other countrys dont use the proper term aus made for the car.. Holden Monaro

  • Btw, it's a Vauxhall Monaro.... Just as u get opel etc... moron

  • Top Gear tests cars that most everyday people will never get to drive, fifth gear is the same but tests more everyday persons cars!

  • yay! go australia! Gotta come here for the best versions of holdens though.. :)

  • I hope you dont mean that you have to go to the uk for the best holdens. What a retarded thing to say

  • He means that over here in australia, we produce superior versions of this car, badged under Holden Special Vehicles with more power, upgraded suspension and better styling, which we don't export!

  • Its bcoz GM (General Motors) owns Holden and Vauxhall 4 mre info about cars send me a message

  • couldn't agree more MGazT

  • Very true

  • 5th gear is better in terms of motor journalism.

Top gear is better in terms of entrainment factor.

  • Might I say, 5th Gear isnt as good as TG!

Tiff is a good power slider, have you seen him do the FWD, RWD and AWD driving techniques?

  • tiff is a power slide god!
