[after recording a cover of The Beatles' "I Am the Walrus"] There! I did it! I defiled a timeless work of art! For my next trick, I will paint a clown face on the Mona Lisa while using the shroud of Turin as a dropcloth.
I was just looking at this for screen studies Hollywood topic at uni, as Jim Carrey is the actor that I most associate with offcasting and product differentiation... him doing serious roles, rather than comedic, and music added to his star power.
Awesome cover.. If nothing else for the simple shock value of who is singing it. However, you cannot discount Bono's version, as it is technically, and vocally superior.
John would've loved the fact that Jim sings this in the most ridiculous way possible. Such devotion to the spirit of the original recording. Brilliant.
Here's the trick. You can connvert this clip to an audio mp3 file at a web site called audofier daht cahm. (This wouldnt post unless I misspelled daht cahm).
este hombre no toma nada enserio jaja, ni siquiera por que esta George Martin ahi, eso lo hace un idolo de muchas personas, en donde sea encuentra el humor. XD
@MySerpentine That is George Martin, he was The Beatles' recording producer at abbey road. I'm just curious, if you didn't know who he was how did you know he is british? lol thats weird
being a comedian (and i mean the part where he can be another person) can really help cause you can change your tone of voice needed in this song. now i love jim carrey more! this is such a hard song to sing!
I love Jim Carrey -- his joy, his crazy abandon to humor, his absolute love of fun, his connection to people, his talent, his heart. Yay, Jim! Good on you!
@MySecretagentman I think he took it as serious as he could. Thats Jim. XDDD But I think he did very well. If he were completely fooling around I dont think it'd be nearly this good.
"There! I did it! I defiled a timeless piece of art! For my next trick, I will paint a clown face on the Mona Lisa while using the Shroud of Turin as a dropcloth." OMG LOL Jim Carrey! :))
Lal this is like the most awesome thing i have ever seen! A legend covers another legend. If someone ever could cover the beatles it should be Jim Carrey:p enough said. I really liked this one
This was for the George Martin: In My Life album. It came out in '98. It is a Beatles tribute album with a lot of celebrity performances. It's a fun one to listen to.
@davidfinkledrums Someone might have already said, but this is from an album that George Martin put out featuring his friends singing Beatle songs. It's pretty good, I'd reccomend buying it.
george martin wanted to celebrate his works from time with the beatles by producing an ''In My Life'' where he chose different people to record each track in the style he thought worked best. There was a documentary at the time where he explained that although the beatles recorded, that he would have got other artists to record it in different ways if they hadn't been so popular. Goldie Hawn covering ''Hard Day's Night'' in lounge singer style was brilliant. - try the album !!
I would work on becoming an actor just so I can work with this man... Definitely one of my favorite actors/comedians of all time and this is just even better.
In Carrey's version (in my opinion) is Much better! Don't get me wrong, The Beatles are amazing(we have a FULL wall dedicated to The Beatles), but Jim does such an Amazing job covering it and it just sounds sooooooooooooooo good!:)
