I really love it! But if I could give some feedback, you should end the song on a "down" note like in the original version. I believe that it's very important to feel all the power of this song. Because the melody is uplifting and if you don't pay attention to the lyrics, you could easily believe it's a happy song, but then the end is there to remind you how sad this song really is. My two cents anyway. But great job! I play this song on the mandolin, but I play it in D and not in C like you do.
It's a very valid point you're making. I have to admit, the importance of details such as this one often pass me by. I'd say the blame lies in my obsession in lyrics, which tends to sometimes block out my understanding of the melody's importance.
