  • Guys an very easy way is with a teaspoon just work around the knob. Added bonus is you will still have two eyes when done :)

  • Got rid of the rest of the plastic it was under my knobs and made a loud screetching noise whenever I changed the tone or volume, that covered my whole strat as well. I used a rubber wire without putting any marks on it.

  • some models you need a screwdriver!

  • Im scared of breaking it. lol

  • Thanks again. Everything worked out fine=)

  • Thanks man =)

    Tried and it worked. =D

Too bad that one of my knobs, has a too small hole under it so I can't fetch the lace underneath it. I'll try with another tool =)

  • Can this damage my guitar? =(

  • Fucking plastic!

  • mine just slide off when i pull them

  • @T16Akatsuki

Well arent you the belle of the ball.

  • @elitemathlete hell yeah ;)

  • I did this while sitting in a couch with the window behind me open... Damn, it flied away

  • i'm gonna have to try that out, got to clean out that stupid plastic left behind from when i ripped the plastic after i took off the sticker. fender really needs to stop putting that stuff there

  • can this method ruin the guitar or the knobs?

    thank you by the way

  • Thanks!! This Work Great!!!!..I was a little nervouse at first try try it!..Considering I was removing a control knob from a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass!..But it works awesome on Bass controls too!..Thanks again!,,How no clue how to the hell to take it off!

  • @Rubo812 Had* not how lol<--from Rubo812

  • Thanks dude. it works perfectly for me!!

  • do they just pop straight back on? plz answer

  • Great! I was wondering how to do it, seeing I'll probably redo my replica (just for fun ;-)).

  • thanks a lot, i will give it a try, i didn't know how they came off, i thought you had to twist them like a les paul, but i was wrong

  • thanks, dude. this worked great.

  • Some strat knobs have screws in the side, if you did this.. that would wreck it.

  • They just pop back on yeah?

  • thanks dude

    that was very helpful

  • another easy way to do it is with dental floss.

  • awesome !!

  • thanks a lot, it worked for me perfectly!!

  • This was pretty easy man, thanks a lot, goodbye to that stupid plastic underneath the knobs (:

i still dont know why they put that plastic on it.. it seems useless to me

  • i left the plastic on mine when i re-vamped the pick ups and marked the 10 spot on the vol and tone knobs. i marked them with a a sharpie and wrote which pickups were going where, but youre right the the piece that is left under the knob is a pain in the ass

  • sweet, super easy

  • easier way is to jack it up gently with a flathead screwdriver I reckon

  • you could scratch your guitar doin' that.

  • lmao

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!! It was easy =)

  • Can you put them back on once they're off? How?

    Thanks.

  • shove em back on.....

  • I usually use fishing line tied to a doorknob ... then close the door ... this woorks if you need some money from the tooth fairy as well ...

  • Wear your safety goggles ~!

  • Thanks for the tip. My fingers are hurting after trying to replace the knobs on my old ibanez proline. Got the first one off easily, but the volume control knob is a bitch.

  • Thanks now i can get the leftover plastic underneath them

  • i wonder how you balanced the camera on you nose!

  • Haha, Taped it to his forehead.... Haha! I'd do that!

  • hahahaha i did this a couple of minutes ago on my strat. Duude those things fly skyhigh and they're kinda floaty in the air XD

  • omg, dude, this is the easiest way 2 do it! thx fer the post! omg it hit me in the face too. =] funn.

  • haha..you are welcome.

    ohh..i know!!

    it hurts too!!

    hah!!

  • hey thats a cool idea thanks.

Is that a highway one? looks just like mine.

  • no problem.

    naw..it is not a highway.

  • will this work on a fender jazzmaster?

  • really, i'm not sure if it would work because i haven't tried it, but i think that since it is a fender model, you can probably take it out using this method.

the knobs on the stratocaster and jazzmaster look the same, so it might accually work, but i'm not sure.

  • Can you put it back on?

  • Yes. It will just slip back on. Just make sure to get the numbers on the knobs the way you want them before you put it on, if you know what i mean.

  • Awesome thanks man

  • how do you get the tone switch out? i am removing my pickgaurd and can't get it out

  • i dont know, dude. sorry, but i think that the white tip of it could just come off. i dont know how to do it safely though.

  • yeah thx i pulled and it just came off, now i'm having trouble "de wiring" the strat. i'm planning on making a frankenstrat and the wire travels from the main cavity to the output jack and it's saudered to both ends so i'm gonna take it in to a guitar center and ask if i should unsauder or cut the wire and reconect. thx for u help.

  • no problem. glad that i can help. good luck with your guitar!
