as someone who is both black and native im offended by the stuff some of you are saying. you make it sound like white people just gave us some rights my grandfather's older brother was hung right in front of him in louissiana in the 60's. i still get followed and have been discrimnated against in 2010. what happened to that baby is shameful however it is the entire system. poor black kids die all the time beacuse of inadequate medicare healthcare system. theres not enough doctors or paper work.

During this time if a native was married to an African the white man said the native and children were black even if that African was mixed with native blood therefore no land rights for any of them. Not equal. I can't get a BIA card easily because my grandmothers birth certificate says negros she looks 0 black. Blacks are still being discriminated against by whites. My mother was called a monkey on a job.

American Indians are not the only real Americans getting screwed by rationed health care. Try being an armed forces veteran in the V.A. health care system. Service connected diabetics who were prescribed cholesterol lowering medications are being charged non-connected co-pays (which themselves were jacked up from $9 to $27 per month), because badly needed medications are being arbitrarily deemed "not service connected."

This is an old report and the figures might be different now. Most of the sexual assault crimes were done by non-natives and white people. The figures I posted are from 2008.
We know what's happening with the Natives of Turtle Island, who are the true owners and should have the first rights on their land.
They are discriminated and some of the help they can get, they can only get it by converting which many don't want since they prefer to stay animists.
