  • im learning how to work on my creative side for my music and these videos are really helping thanks :)

  • It was slightly confusing because you never mentioned that the formula you're doing is the major scale. My biggest question through the video was why are we doing the steps in this order.

  • I am really listening and following along, but does this video series useful for learning guitar? or just piano.

  • @tsteward091 Both. ;)

  • Finally...Thank you kindly sir!!

  • @cav1986 'Finally'? what? You are welcome for the lessons if that's what you mean. ;)

  • Every time he says "half-step" you drink! Cheers :)

Thanks for the help please keep posting videos.

  • @snakerex LOL! Thank you for your comment. Yeah, I'll post more when I get some spare time. Cheers. Tony ;)

  • this is great!

  • @trainsforever8 Thank you! The lessons are a bit boring but, I hope you derive some useful info from them. ;)

  • @Topdoginuk Your lessons are not boring, not at all,its 1:56 PM and i'm enjoying this! I wish every teacher could show us theory in such a simple and clean way!

  • @trainsforever8 Thank you for your very kind words. You are a great encouragement to me that gives me hope to think about creating more videos in the future.

    Tony ;)

  • @Topdoginuk Dear Tony, I just want to say that you lessons are a) not boring!!! b) very… very helpful.

I wish I had a music teacher like you at school. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW :) Thanks a lot. Art :)

  • @Ar2rleader Ah! Thank you for your very kind words of encouragement ;) Best wishes for your music journey and if I can be of any help, just drop me a line and I will try my best or give links elsewhere.

    Tony ;)

  • Correct me if I'm wrong

for whole steps is it like addition?

    D + Dsharp = E. E + F = Fsharp and F sharp + G = Gsharp?

  • @AeonFlexMusic

    you mean on a guitar?

  • I like this! Thanks for doing these! I always wanted to learn music theory but hated paying for leasons 15 bucks an hour an not see much improvement. Im going to try to learn these when i got time or get another guitar lost my other one :( These videos will go into a collection of mine so i can always look back on them.

  • Haha, I like the way you put a clock to remind you of the 10 minutes. Great videos! Thanks for all your efforts.

  • Thanks it helping me a lot , your lessons are the best I've seen and Ive looked at a lot of theory books.... thank you for the roadmap

  • I'm a 'learn by ear' guitarist, I've always been uncomfortable with theory. But these videos are a great way to learn. I can easily make notes and what not, it's just much easier to concentrate in an environment of my own choice. as a posed to a classroom. Plus, being as I have chosen to watch these videos in order to gain an understand of music, the theory isn't going in one ear and out the other. So congrats to you for taking your time to make these videos! It's much appreciated =)

  • @SeagoGuitarist Thank you for your kind words. I'm very pleased you are deriving some benefit from my videos. It makes the effort worth it when a person appreciates them. Good luck with your musical journey and, remember, learning by ear is also a good method too. Take a look at Justin Sandercoes lesson via my link, he's very good.

  • This is very good. I've learned a little bit before I found your vids. So, I alreadt know part 1 and 2, but you got it step by step, but with all the other ways to learn I could have jumped from maybe 3 to 25 or something... So, when there's things I don't know it will be really really usefull. Keep it up!

  • so a whole tone or semitone is the same as a whole step or half step?

  • @Nevanator7 Yes!

  • Excellent, thanks a lot for your vids man. One suggestion - put the summary for each lesson in the info so people can find which vid they need (or need to start from).

  • You're a great teacher, breaking everything down into simple Half-Steps, and everything you write and draw are perfect notes to copy from, it's clear and simply organized. I shall pass there videos onto my friends on facebook and twitter.

  • @crunkmonkey305 Thanks again. I'm really pleased the lessons are helping you. It's great when someone appreciates my efforts because they took a lot of work to get 'em done and avoid mistakes!

  • Omg, THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR YOUR LESSONS! I've been searching and searching for some good lessons, I've been playing guitar for the past 8 years, I know chords, and power chords, but from that I have nothing, I want to learn riffs, but without music theory I have no Idea where to start. These vids are great, some of the things you're saying make soo much sense but I would of never thought of it, I shall continue watching.

  • @crunkmonkey305 Thank you!

  • Wow thank you finally someone gets it right.

  • Thank you sir, 99% of the videos here on youtube don't help, but your yours helps a lot.

It's good to see that there are music teachers who use pedagogic methods that work.
