  • Kefka: you find anything!

    Soldier: No sir!

    Kefka: How about you guys!

Soldier 2: Not a thing sir!

    Kefka: Did you

Soldier 3: We ain't found shit!

  • 'wheres he goin? lets follow him'

'i oughta rip his lungs out'

    lol

  • Blitzball. what is this blitzball you speak of?

  • cider is alcoholic...

  • You know, in the Japanese version of this game (Or at least, the fan translation I played), Relics are just Accessories. I wonder why Woolsey felt the need to call them "Relics" like each one had some mystical origin or something.

  • Haha Kung Fu Suit. What was it renamed in the GBA version?

  • locke can equip the heavy shield, but the mythril is better anyway

  • :::Attention::: bot677 from ubotstudios com approves of HCBailly's videos. That is all.

  • Call me immature, but I got a great laugh out of the hyper wrist boosting your vigor

  • im playing the advance version, the translation for dog eats strangers is the same. but instead of "slit mamma's throat" it's "kill his own best friend"

  • @Yojimbo2233 I'm not meaning to offend or anything (mainly because I haven't even played any FF games, ever), but I've heard people say that both X and XIII were both terrible... It must be all a matter of the person playing.

  • yeah ppl say that, but both are awesome. Dont listen to everything you hear. If you can pick em up.

  • @silvertigrex I haven't played XIII, but the only part about X that I liked was Tara Strong as Rikku. Maybe if every party member in the game were voiced by Tara Strong (And God knows she'd have enough voices to do that) I would have actually enjoyed it, but it just felt so much like a chore to me.

  • Yeah I hear where ur coming from. lol most of the voice acting was pretty atrocious.

  • @silvertigrex (I forgot about Tom Kenny being the Blitzball commentator. That was also awesome.) It's not just the bad voice acting that brought the game down for me. The gameplay itself was just completely unenjoyable, and even pressing mute whenever dialog happened didn't help me like Yuna any more, which is a bad thing, because she was basically the central character. I couldn't even finish the damn game, it was so tedious for me.

  • Yuna was pretty...average in the character department....mabye alil below. And yeah, the gamplay mechanics seemed to downgrade a bit since 9 which was beast. But hey, im pretty easy goin when it comes to rating games, so mabye thts just me lol

  • bless you HC I was stuck in that town thinking that there was somethin I had to do in there to move on with the plot.Lol

  • The hyper wrist? Which increases your vigour?

I sense some sort of innuendo here.

  • Where is Bannon? Unimportant details. The point of this game that I knew since I first played is to just keep exploring.

  • Giving Edgar a mythril pike just for strength...that has a name in WoW. Ask your brother.

  • This game looks hundreds of times better than the new final fantasy games (10,12,13 etc)

  • @samtorrance5590 Ten is awesome. As is thirteen.

  • are you playing this game legally (owning the actual game cartridge) or illegally (not owning the game) I just wanted to know because it'll help me decide whether I should get a rom for this game or not

  • Comment removed

  • @nintendozonezzzz

He's definitely playing a rom of the game on an emulator. He uses savestates all the time to show you what treasure to get now and what treasure to save for later. Additionally from what I can tell the emulator he is using is SNES9x (SNES9x FTW!).

  • Why do you have 3 goggles in your inventory? Didn't you say that the dark status ailment was bugged in the version of the game you're playing?

  • in final fantasy 6 advance locke can equipt the heavy sheild.

  • In the playstation version Locke can equip the heavy sheild. Do you recommend I do as this is the version i'm playing along with you on.

  • when he said comb the desert i was waiting for the spaceball scene :p

  • 01:20 It was wine.

  • i can explain what happened with that girl. she leaves whenever you talk to the two people below her, because they talk about an impending attack. she rushes outside, and you can see her north of the building later running around panicking.

  • Wife: "There's always a draft in here. I wonder where it's coming from"

    Husband: *FARTS*

  • Shadow still says "The dog eats strangers." in the GBA version.

  • Holly crap... I've played this game for a thousand times and I had no idea about the secret passage on 3:10... =/

  • @Nandonoikarus --> Same here!

  • lol I just got the title and this my second time watching this LP. Duncan Donuts! I love those Donuts lol

  • thank you

  • I always found it lame how Locke cant equip a heavy shield.

  • @BeastingYouForever er..he CAN. it just so happens he can equip a more powerful shield

  • I think he does actually say that the dog eats people in the Advance version. I certainly remember him saying that. It really is quite a funny line, isn't it? ^_^

  • Nice pun in the title.

Ah, I didn't know about the bottom person going first on preemptive; I'll have to remember that.

  • it was sake not cider

  • i'm getting FFV, and FFVI because of you my friend! :D i already have FF1-FF4, plus, FFVII-FFX. so now i hav them all!! :D

  • I know! I'm even thinking about getting FFVI and FFVII because of HCBaily!

  • Well since were talking about animal names, my cats name is Kitty :3. Seriously it is. Interceptor's cool to, also Shadow. But my cat is just so silly, that he only responds to Kitty. We did name him Charcoal, but... yeah.

  • "the dog eats strangers" is still in the GBA translation lol

  • spaceballs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Heavy Shield: Actually HC, Locke CAN equip it.

  • 2 things i've noticed 1. In FF games, if you name a character then eventualy they will be in your party. and 2. Shadow, is the name of my cat.

  • Are there many (any) games where you name characters that won't be in your party?

  • In FFVIII, there is a part where you name your ring (yeah, ring). Its default name is Griever, and it ends up being the name of Ultimecia's Guardian Force and one of the game's final battles.

  • Really? Thats a cool cat name. I named my dog after Shadows dog, Interceptor.

  • About the 1st half of what you,ve said, is not true in FF 10-2 game, the characters names are fixed for good, you can't name them, at all.

  • Hmmm.. I'm playing along with this LP on the exact same version and Locke does seem to be able to wear the Heavy Shield.

  • When you say "comb the desert" I can't help but think of this one movie where they took that literally...if memory serves, that was Spaceballs. Could be wrong though, it's been ages since I've seen it.

  • Yup, Spaceballs.

  • ya it was spaceballs. he may have even been referring to it

  • Yep, it's Spaceballs.

  • That was the reference he was making.

  • I just put the one to the top who I want to look at. :)

  • i think it was wine not cider

  • you can never have too many ribbons ; )

  • I didn't know about leaving the chests OR that secret passage! Thanks!

  • Regarding what Shadow says in the Advance version about his dog, he still says the dog eats strangers, but Edgar, instead of saying he'd "slit his mama's throat for a nickle" says something about selling out his best friend or killing his best friend.

  • 4:30 Whoah, did you just properly synch up the music? wow, awesome :O

  • I get lucky every now and then.

  • Greesemonk... WTF?

  • I didn't know Duncan's wife!

  • You have a cute voice. =)

  • Wait, didn't you say this before, 28?

  • I did! I JUST WANT HIM TO KNOW! Because he clearly knows he does.

  • Are you thinking, "I want to hear that voice talk dirty to me" or, "I want to hear that voice on the phone" ?

I have the feeling it wouldn't have the same HCharmBailly either way 8) <3

  • Regarding Haste, I place a lot of emphasis on speed in RPGs. Actually equipped Odin on everyone to where the speed stat was over 100 for every character, stayed in the Gelnika to max out Cloud's speed via sources in FF7..but that's just me^^;. Ive watched your stuff for some time now and finally remembered my login info, keep up the amazing work!

  • Most of the people in South Figaro don't look at you when you talk to them. What a bunch of jerks... I hope something horrible happens to them.

  • Yep, it is son of a sandworm, but I just saw the "Leave Us, the dog eats Strangers" line, so it is there.

  • I'm pretty sure that they left that the dog eats strangers in the advance version of the game. (lots of the translation is the same, such as the "Fire, Fire" I didn't catch if they left in the Son of a Submariner or not though.

  • They changed it to "son of a sandworm", IIRC.

  • So many great references; HC has gotten really good at slipping them in. I've never seen the little girl leave the "cafe", either.

I wonder why we can't talk to the guy behind the counter at the "cafe"; NPCs that're impossible to reach and/or talk to always make me wonder if they had any lines programmed..or if talking to them via a walk-through-walls code will crash the game because they didn't have any lines at all.

  • Usually a game will only crash if talking to someone will activate unfinished code; if their is NO code at all, nothing will happen, just like talking to wall.

That said, I'm pretty sure you can talk to him at a later point in the game, whenever Shadow and his dog aren't standing in the way any longer.

  • The Figaro brothers rule. Why? They just do.

  • Rhodox can not be suplex'd by Sabin thats about the only special thing about them

  • Cool!! You are showing us what each worthwhile Relic, Armor, and Weapon does!

  • Haste is helpful for reordering who goes first. If Edger is equipped with a weapon and he jumps or someone jumps him his attack will be larger and if your weapon can cast a spell it's good too.

  • I was wondering, how did you obtain Bioblaster for Edgar?

  • bought it in figaro castle

  • Easy, just buy it from Figaro castle.

  • Actually HCBailly, it turns out that "Cider" is a perfectly accurate translation. That is exactly what it was, mind you that in Japanese that explicitly means that it's the alcoholic variety.

  • Comb the desert!

The last two times you've said that I've been expecting you to insert that scene from Spaceballs where Darth Mask's minions are combing the desert with Ace combs and a hair pick.

  • I don't know if anyone has posted this yet or not, but in the original SNES version of this game if you hold the A button or the corresponding button for the emulator it will speed up the timer for your characters actions. I honestly don't know if this is intentional or a game glitch, but after extensive testing with a stop watch I know it does work.

  • Isn't some Cider alcoholic anyway?

  • Yeah it's called "hard" or Apple Jack. Just fyi think about that the next time you end up in the cereal isle lol!!

  • Only one fight!!! where is the killing!!!

  • Holy crap I never realized about that secret passage @ 03:30.

Re Bannon: I always assumed that Locke and Edgar knew where he was.

  • it was originally soke where do you get genji gloves

  • How the hell does a little girl get into a bar?? rofl good job HC ^^

  • SUPPOSEDLY the ability to walk behind that building is a glitch. OSTENSIBLY the programmers didn't put the water tiles in a spot where they weren't visible, so your character can pass through the space as normal.

I don't buy this at all. The secret passage does have certain gameplay implications, but I'm pretty sure it's working as intended -- the only oversight is some of the dialogue you get next time you visit South Figaro.

  • Nuu...more "do not want" treasure D:

Anyway, do you know that in most of the menu sections (e.g. Skills, Equip), you can switch between characters using L and R without having to swap in & out of menus like in FF V? Need to kill your habit of that... :P

  • Not sure if anybody asked or not, but what kind of beverage do you get at Starbucks?

And Happy 4th of July, HC! ^~^

  • 1:21 - Ale. But yes, it's alcohol (as evidenced later in the game by the old man's reaction to it).

  • I think this is possibly the best FF of them all, probably my personal fav... I thought I knew just about everything about it, and I've already learned so many major things from this playthrough! Yikes!! I never had any idea that leaving chests would improve them later, I always gobble up everything I can grab as soon as I can find it!

  • In my opinion, this is Square's best work next to Chrono Trigger.

  • Agreed. 100%

  • @Cmckerracher don't forget The Kingdom Hearts series.

  • @Cmckerracher My 2 fav square games are Chrono Trigger and FFX

  • Actually, the "dog eats strangers" line is kept in the Advance version. I am playing through that version as you do this one so that I can compare, and when I came to that line I cracked up.

  • that spoony woosley.....translating some funny lines.

  • Yes. It's about to get intense.

  • I'm playing along with this LP on the advanced version. Are the Hyper Wrists worth keeping and using? Or just selling?

As always, the knowledgeable HCBailly makes me glad to watch these videos. I learn more than I ever knew about the SNES RPGs.

  • I don't think Hyper Wrists are worth it in any version. It's such a minimal difference in damage.

  • Thanks for the reply, more money to spend I guess :)

  • great work as always, HC. can't wait to see more. :D

how are you liking this LP so far?

  • Based on how much fun I've had with the first few episode, this could easily become my favorite LP so far, and I haven't even gotten to the good parts yet.

  • Hear's a hint for one of my favorite parts "la la lala"!!

  • Does HC do the commentary during gameplay or after hes recorded everything?

  • during.

  • Records while hes playing.

  • trust is it was Sake in the japanese version

  • Sorry about your internet issues, glad that it came back at home at least.

  • Those Rhodox remind me of Mu from FF7.

  • That's what they're called in FF6j, if memory serves.

  • Rip his lungs out? I know what your talking about XD

  • You're gonna get the Genji Gloves, right?... RIGHT?

  • Don't even ask. He deeply researches his LPs before he plays them. Don't even worry about it...

  • Ahh, this brings back memories. :D

I know who Edgar is talking about! x3

  • I think he still says "The dog eats strangers" in this Advance version, but the "He'd kill his mother for a nickel" is "He'd kill his best friend for the right price."

  • I don't know but i think the latter sounds more intimidating

  • That sucks that you had to pay for that internet connection and then yours came back 2 hours later HC. Anyways, excellent episode as usual.

  • I've actually been playing through the Advance version recently. He still says that the dog eats people.

  • hes favourite tea.... reminds me of lets play final fantasy 7... SIT DOWN AND DRNIK YOUR TEA..... WHERES THE GOD DAMN TEAAA

  • I think shadow was sarcastic there

  • it was whiskey i think.

  • hc bailly turned down a secret passage i'm shocked! :-) just joking i get why.

  • The Hyper Wrist is a good relic to give Edgar, since it increases the damage of AutoCrossbow, Drill, and Chain Saw.

  • I love the Chainsaw. Especially since Edgar puts on a hockey mask for it's special effect.

  • LMAO!!! HC you're to funny dude

  • I'm gonna call that guy Donut from now on.Haha,I like it.

  • Wine actually but technically Cider is also a type of alcoholic drink

  • Cider can be alcoholic or non-alcoholic, and so as another user commented, it was pretty clever on Woolsey's part.

  • 5:29 correction... they sent three magitec armors at narshe... remember terra was in one too

  • Vigor affects your regeneration and poison rate. However, more vigor means poison does more damage. Whoops? I don't know.

Yeah, she has an ID. It says Charles Norwood on it and it's proof of her adultivity.

  • Nevermind, I mixed up stamina and vigor.

  • It's just "sake" IIRC, which doesn't mean what it does in English. It refers to any alcoholic beverage, so think "booze", "hooch", "spirits", or just "drinks".

"Cider" was a pretty clever way around NoA's censorship, as, at least in American English, it can refer to either an alcoholic or a non-alcoholic drink.

  • 0:13 No, this is cafe, not a bar. :D It even says cafe in the sign outside. Yay for censoring.

And that cider as sake in original version if I remember corretly.

  • Wow, beat me by a few minutes. That'll teach me to type too much (and wiki "cider" :P ).

  • No cuz you ruin the original that we gave to the Americans

  • Wait, which commenter on this video ruined what that you personally had a part in giving to "the Americans"?

  • Oh, the running shoes are so important. I did a perfect stats run on advance, and in a low level game, the best strategy for beating tunnel armor without wasting anything was Celes with the running shoes/hermes sandals, and true knight/knight's code while Locke's HP was arranged to be critical before battle, celes constantly runic, then again for any other magic spamming boss that setup works brilliantly.

  • Man, who is Celes? You know we haven't seen him/her yet. O_o Maybe he is somekind of crazy hobo? And runic? Does that mean he is somekind of Runescape addict? O_o

  • I know, I considered spoilers, don't worry, but like Leo, I figured whether you know the names yet doesn't really serve as a spoiler, since you find their name out as they become relevant.

  • LOL

  • duncan donuts can i have some

  • No new weapons then? I guess they're not much better, huh.

  • Happy Independence Day for people in the United States...Fireworks are awsome...

Hey HC...does america run on this video (title)?

  • Cheers, thank you for answering my question from the last video.

  • Hey, look! A bunch of animals! Let's spray poisonous chemicals all over them!

  • I like Locke being at the top of the party order just because I think he's the coolest looking character, even though Edgar seems like the most leadership material kind of person later in the game. Although Locke seems like he could be a field leader type of person.

  • ahh i found that secret area on my own, which was cool

  • Ever closer to meeting one of my fave party members in the game.

I think I know how far later you mean with all those do not wants but I'm saying nothing FOR NOW!

  • For the first time in my life, I'm glad that Starbucks exists.

  • Happy Independence Day to everyone in the US!!!

Yeah, it's never really said where Banon is hiding out, but at least here, there's really only one way to go after South Figaro. So, at least you don't have to search forever trying to find him.

I think that Locke needs to teach that stupid merchant a lesson...

  • Hope you have a happy 4th HC!

  • in the advance version they say that dog eats stragers too.

  • Wow! In all the times I've played this, I didn't know about the secret staircase to those treasures.

  • Isn't GreaseMonk, just Grease Monkey but had to shorten it as it didn't fit?

  • At least there's not a PorchMonk. We may have never gotten to play this game.

  • Porch Monkey For Life!

It's cool, I'm takin it back.

  • that jerk. you should steal his cider...and his clothes too!

  • I skipped that cider cutscene as well as the cell area. Thanks for showing.

I don´t remember if Kefka was a general but since two of the emperor´s best men are I think he is.

  • lol when you described FFVI in the other play throughs you said everything was OP and now you comment on everything being less useful in this game ^^

  • Not everything.

  • well you get my point :P

  • Title:

    I c wut u did thar.
