  • Assalamu Alaikum :) i just wanted to know do you have a tutorial video for the hoojab you were wearing at the beginning? also would it be good for school because i would like to see if i can find a better style for my scarf - even my non muslim friends want me to do a nicer style :L

  • Thank u so much Sister. Ur dis video helped me a lottt!

I work in recruitment agency, dnt feel comfortable in dress shirts, n I thought cudnot wear dis top with dress pent. Thnks a lot sister.

    Jazak Allah.

Any link dis hijab plz, I cant find in ur videos.

  • Sister, please do not purchase from Marks and Spencers as they fund Israel directy who inturn build illegal settlements and cause alot of grief to Palestine. I was quite upset to hear where you purchased your outfit from.

  • Assalamualaykum. Great video and tips! MashaAllah thank you for sharing it with us. I'd like to request you for advice on how to wear properly for an audition in the media/broadcasting field. I'm a newly hijabi sister and I'm going for an audition for a host/tv presenter for this one local TV station in my country this early February 2012. Please Amena, would be grateful if you could share with us your 2 cents for the outfit including the hijab style. JazakAllah :)

  • salam aleikoum sisters. I'm 18 years old girl muslim, and I live in France. So I think that you know that in France we can't wear the hijab to go to school or to go working.

it really make me crazy. I want to wear the hijab but because of that's stupid loys I can't :'(

    what can I do?

I wanted too to tell you amina that I really enjoy your videos. bonne continuation ma soeur. Baraka Allah u fik <3

  • what about the poor skin-it needs to breath..what the heck...my culture we are modest but not ashamed of our bodies

  • @Tearrze We aren't ashamed of our bodies you idiot. If you don't understand why we dress modestly then go learn a thing or two. And besides, just by covering up doesn't mean we are depriving our skin of anything. Its actually healthy because we don't expose ourselves to harmful UV rays. Oh and your culture must not be so modest if its okay for you to show skin.

  • ever skirted it to an interview? :p

  • Assalam sis ...Thanks soooo much..i got an interview and i really didnt know wat to wear...now am relief :) .....great job..keep it up :)

  • I am not Muslim, but this video was very helpful. I am looking for a blazer at the moment for an interview purpose- I'll need it in a few year probably. I just have large shoulders so it's difficult. Hopefully one will come my way that will fit (long arms too). It's out there... somewhere. Or God doesn't want me to get one at the moment. It'll come when I need it.

  • Love your accent :)

  • Hey, please do reply and tell me what tutorial it is in which you show how to wear the scarf the way you have worn with your first outfit. This is also a Hoojab right, the smaller one? You said it in the video I think. Thanks in a advance!

PS: your tutorials are great help!

  • It's been less than a year since I started wearing hijab. I am still getting used to other's reactions to it and your videos provide some encouragement I need to stick with it. I have an interview soon and I am conflicted about wearing the hijab to the on-site visit. I am worried about being judged based on my faith rather than my intelligence. I have faith in Allah that things will work out but I am worried about being denied the job as it would help my family out. Do you have any advice?

  • please tell me about butterfly abbaya or mulhafa I wanna get it stiched by tailor i need some samples

  • ASA. Great video. thanks for sharing as always. I look forward to seeing more inshaAllah.

  • MashaAllah Amena, I just love how fresh and young your face looks! :) Jazaakillah for this video, many du'as heading your way. :)

  • whats a hoojab and how do you wear it differenntly to the hijab?

  • Assalamu Alaikum, I was just watching a video of somebody giving a review on your pearl daisy products etc... And one of the comments said something like not to support pearl daisy as Amena (you) copied the design of a hoojab from some designer named Rabia Z. They also said you have taken credit for her designs and you buy all your goods from china!!! I have mo idea where this person got these false accusations from and I certainly don't believe them, however I just thought it would be useful f

  • @ChickAndTweety101 Wa 'alaikum as-salaam! This person has been stalking me and my friends for a while now lol. Some people are sad and their slander reflects their own state. Ignore them and make du'a for them! :o)

  • @Amenakin Sorry to hear, amena (the downright stalking part)... it happens on the internet so easily and often sadly... your answer is inspirin though, you are a role model :))))

  • I'm going to sound like a crazy woman but...Thank you thank you thank you :D I requested this a week or two ago and I was just having a look at your new recent videos and was sooooo happy to see this...I'm not sure if you'd seen my comment or not but either way I'm so grateful...I have an interview next week and I'm so stressed :( I have my outfit sorted except for my blazer...let the blazer hunt begin! Anyways great video..keep up the amaKng work :)

  • @Sahunali Oh YEY! I did get a lot of requests so I probably did get encouraged by you to do this video. Thank YOU :oD

  • please sister amena my skin has reacted

  • Salaam Amena,

I just had a uni dentistry interview today and I found it so hard to find an outfit thats smart but also modest--> I opted for a charcol coloured suit with a black and white shirtdress which looked very similiar to your top, but black with a white stripe! And I wore black pointy shoes with a little kitten heel! U seem to be reading my mind sister lol :) Alhumdulillah Interview went very well too!

  • J'ai aimé cette video :-)

Vraiment interessante et differente des thèmes habituels.

    Bonne continuation 3

  • @kimimouche Merci beaucoup :o)

  • Thanks so much for uploading about this!!! I was wanting you to do an interview presentation efforts as a hijabi as Im new to hijab being facinated and inspired as I have been watching you videos for a long time. Thankyou sister!! xxxx

  • @atyishere You're welcome! Congrats on your wearing it! :o)

  • Rayray I'm just saying my opinions sister amena likes that

  • Assalamoualaikoum. Is the black seamed hoojab that you are wearing at the begining of the video in stock? If not, then will you have it back?

  • sister amena please do another spot tutorial because i bought the zapstick and i wore it for 2 months my skin just reacted and made even more spots thanku sister :)

  • @afsu73 why are you lieing for!

  • assalamualaikum sister amena i only made a youtube account but ive been watching your videos for ages you are such a inspiration to me and thanku inshallah you and family stay well

  • Perfect timing..I had no idea what to wear to my interview till I watched your video and wore a similar oufit, but my shirt was full white. And?? I GOT THE JOB!!!!! Thank you so much, I love you Amena!!!

    Kisses

  • @Amenakin

No, it's a public highschool so it wont matter :D

  • Bring back the original hoojab... Please.. i need a standard black hoojab, and a few standard hoojabs..!!

  • @evergreend

    wow thankyou :)

its harder because I'm in a wheelchair. I think people are worried about offending me if they don't offer their hand. I've considered wearing gloves on any occasion I may need to shake hands.

I'll Google it now, thanks so much! XX

  • I think 2'respectfully decline' shaking hands,I'd mention it's nothing personal, since generally, some may feel its personal or hurt. Next I would be firm n friendly mentioning that you prefer not to, or that its something u dont do or something like that. I think its best not to go explaining details and waffling on, unless they specifically ask. But as you 'respectfully decline' n mention u prefer not to, or its not something u do, just nod ur head respectfully at them instead. Hope this helps

  • Sorry this is in regards to someone asking about it, I didn't want to reply to them, because they asked sister Amena, but I just wanted to offer something.

Thanks for the video Amena! :)

  • Dear sister,Is that really you?

too many surprise you give me today.

so so so happy I am.

Thank you sister! I can not use any words to explain my happy and thanks to you now. WooWWWW !!!

  • Assalamu alaikum dear sister,It was very very usefull to me.Thank you very much.I like your all style.my english is not good i need to see this vidio many times.thank you again for teaching.

Allah bless u and your family.best regards!

  • @Farida0523 Wa 'alaikum as-salaam! Thank you for watching!

  • Salam amena. Amazing vid! Can I ask you what foundation/concealor you use? You're face is flawless mashAllah. I remember you said Chanel lumier on you're fb page is that correct? Thanks if you can reply xxx

  • @isaidthisok Wa 'alaikum as-salaam! Usually I use Bare Escentuals but in this vid I was wearing the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation :o)

  • amazing video.. thank you so much. i always thought a lil longer top from the blazer would look weird but it looks nice. and second one is also cool.. but plz can u show a full lenght pic of that!

  • @deadlydamsel04 Sorry, I should have shown it!

  • @evergreend

I don't get what you mean :( can you please try to explain a bit more? I know explaining actions in words is difficult but I have a real problem with this.

bit personal, but I have anxiety problems, and shaking hands makes me feel invaded, men or women. I know it sounds silly but I hate being rude and just ignoring a handshake.

    thanks :) :) :) xXx

  • @Gothmummi Oh! :) guess what?! I was googling a pic to display the position for u and I found something really interesting. Google "book of body language" choose the westside toastmasters link in the results, then go to Chapter 6 and scroll down to this title "Holding Hands Behind the Back" and see the display picture, and don't forget to read the description for it, it's especially for u :) subhan Allah! Hope this helps, I tried to put the link here but error popped up every time

  • oh, and i got the job alhamdulilah!

  • for my job interview, i wore purple and black. my hijab was purple as well with a black bone(:

  • Ah you're so pretty MASHALLAH ;)

  • jazakallah for the vid sis. But if i wore a white shirt aroung 4 inches longer than my back blazer, would it look weird and unproffesional?

  • @xxxxxxxxSARAxxxxxxxx Nah, I've worn them to interviews and never had probs. Hope your interview goes well, i'A!

  • Comment removed

  • @uniquehijabs Um, ok? My employers have never found my clothing unprofessional, and wouldn't have hired me if they had thought that.

  • @uniquehijabs hey thanks for sharing your opinion, but what would you suggest that a muslim woman should wear to an interview that is professional yet modest?

  • @uniquehijabs Uhm.. I've never tucked in my blouses or shirts. I personally feel it's old-fashioned (except for when it's tucking in top wear into jeans which suit the style, or very high-waisted trousers), and with some suits it made me feel somewhat too "revealed" (I am not wearing hijab but believe it or not the inch or two of fabric being tucked in or over the trousers made a difference to me for some reason). I have never had issues neither in corporate nor public management jobs...

  • @uniquehijabs I think its good you share advice and i am interested in anything i have not yet heard... but please allow me to say i would be very suspicious of ANY institution which turns away otherwise qualified individuals on a reson like THIS.. (classy attire is somethin important, but this is a detail where either way - tucked in or not - has its pros and cons in looks, and i disagree one is outright more "professional" than the other)

  • jazakallah for the vid sis. But if i wore a white shirt aroung 4 inches longer than my back blazer, would it look weird and unproffesional?

also which do you think looks more proffesional, the exact colouurs your wearing or exactly what your wearing with a navy hijab?

  • @xxxxxxxxSARAxxxxxxxx I prefer to match my suit to my hijaab colour, but I think a deep navy colour would also work with this type of outfit!

  • im trying to get into the education sector. TA would be ideal. With someone coming from a finacial background what advice would you give? How would i approach the schools? What qualifications are required?

  • @TheJalal15 I'm not sure what qualifications a TA requires, to be honest. I'm sure there must be one or more courses involved. I don't think a University degree is a requirement, and I think it varies depending on the country you're working in

  • Asalam Alaikum Sister Amena,

Can you do a video on outfits for highschool, I can't seem to find anything modest yet stylish :$, shokran :)♥

  • @haventhadenoughofyou Wa 'alaikum as-salaam! Does your school have guidelines with clothing colours or hijaab styles?

  • I was waiting for the lower part of the second outfit :D

Thanx for the tips though, loved the first one, more professional

  • @evergreend haha yeh, it was the same as the first one but I should've done a quick full-shot. Sorry!

  • Let me ask you, how do u think we should inform the company who is interviewing us that we cover hair everyday? I don't use hijab, but I wrap my hair in turban every day. Like I have a pic of me in the CV so that they already know, but the other day I faced a "oh you are wearing the same style as in the pic of your CV"... uhm no, that is my everyday lol

  • @nattylionesss I don't think you should need to inform them. If you really want to tell them, you could drop it into conversation in your interview. But I would've thought that most people would figure it out anyway!

  • Great outfits:) when i go for interviews i wear high heels cuz i think it looks formal xxx luv ya

  • @glitternight16 Cool! I would probably trip lol!

  • My normal hijab style is always volumised

  • I love the hijab style you did with the last outfit, the one with the brown cardigan. It seemed to have no beginning or end.You should call it the infinity wrap.Do you need a hoojab to do the infinity wrap? Can it be achieved with a scarf that has extra length to it?Do you have a tutorial so that maybe I could try it with a regular scarf?

  • @trichmomma That's a nice name - thank you! Hmm, I don't think you could, unless it was also very slim (like the "wings"), but then it wouldn't cover the head properly. You could experiment, though!

  • I cant believe I requested for this video a few weeks ago. I was looking through my subscriptions and I was shocked when I saw the title! I was soo excited. It has helped out alot too, I definately know what to keep my eyes peeled for next time I go shopping. Jazakallah for taking your time out to record this video Sister Amena, I really appreciate it. Can I also just ask all you sisters to pray that I get the university offer and pass my aptitude test! Jzk! =D x

  • @d3sire100 Oh yey!! It always makes me glad when these videos actually help in real life situations! Best wishes and dua's for your University career - make the most of it!! :oD

  • whats the difference between hijabs, and hojabs?

  • @greenANDpurple0708 hi the hoojabs have a hood on it whereas the hijaab is flat!!

  • @greenANDpurple0708 Check out my video called "What is a Hoojab?" :o)

  • mashAllah loveed it! but can u pleeaaassseee do an ootd fo the mini skirt with straight legged jeans!!! :)

  • My boyfriend worked in the web/graphic design sector for 7 years before going to uni. He always went for interviews in a suit. Even just in the one industry some places were jeans and tshirt for work, some were full suit so best to wear a suit and then ask about the dress code when its appropriate.

  • whoooooa lovely!!!

  • @dinavienna Thanks, Dina! Hope you're well sweetie

  • @Amenakin ya i'm fine thanks a lot!!! hope you are doing well with your little treasures too :)))))

  • i love the last look! jazakallah khayr for doing this :))

  • Funny how hijab is forbidden here in France. The law is disgusting! :(

  • @theshirodoll the hijab too? I thought it was only the niqaab?

  • @hanerz94 Well I meant in the work place. Niqaab is forbidden in the streets. And Hijab is forbidden at school, on ID pictures, and in work places.

  • @theshirodoll Really?! Wow. That's terrible. I always thought it was just Niqaab, I didn't think they had a problem with Hijab too. So, it's only allowed in the streets? What's the reason for it? I mean, I know the Niqaab is forbidden for identification reasons, but why would the hijab need to be forbidden for that?

  • @theshirodoll :o(

  • @theshirodoll uhm.. its forbidden in public schools , but you can wear it in private schools all day and in the streets all the time you wish (outside of school hrs in public schools).. niqab is now forbidden to my knowledge, but not hijab.. i have never heard it bein forbidden in the workplace (aside for school teachers i imagine). i was working alongside many veiled ladies some yrs ago in fact (although that was before the niqab ban, but the loi de la laicité was already in place)

  • @dinavienna What are you talking about? Hijab is FORBIDDEN in working places! You cannot wear the hijab at work, period. Do you live or work in France? O_O

  • @theshirodoll I used to (work in France) last time about 6 yrs ago (AFTER la loi de la laicité). They cannot forbid hijab in just any workplace. they can forbid it in "republican"/public institutions for people working there, they can forbid it in public schools etc.. they can according to ec directives like the framework directive 2000/78/EC not forbid hijab just in any workplace. if your employer tells you this s/he's lyin, i urge you to seek counseling with anti-racism ngos.

  • @theshirodoll please tell me the law you are talking about so that i can check it (i am fluent in french so any newspaper article or better legal source available online is fine). anyways any national law would be overruled by the above directive

  • I recently had my very first job interview and Alhamdulilah I got the job!! It's a casual campus job, but it'll mean I'll be able to help the parents out with finances insha'Allah!

It's a art's job so instead of going too "neat" I wore a dark navy julbab with a bright pink cardigan and a dark blue hijab! seemed to do the trick :D

haha tell "Reeeeeta" the Pearldaisies say hi!!!

  • I always wondered what is your job?

    kisses and hugs :*

  • @SevgiCarmen She's a teacher (:

  • @SevgiCarmen she used to teach biology at secondary school & college, i think. she mentioned it in her very early videos. :)

  • @SevgiCarmen Currently I'm a stay at home mum! My last job was a College teacher :o)

  • that's a great topic to address Amena :), & reading through some of the comments, i think a follow up video would benefit when it comes to more outfit suggestions, the whole "hand shake" option,& i think especially in the western world (though sadly even in predominantly muslim countries) to talk about being confident & positive about applying not necessarily as a hijabi but muslim woman in general, how confidence & attitude plays a huge role.

love the criss cross kinda folds in the 2nd look :D

  • @Noor2388 That's so true - confidence and competence will get you very far in the workplace. I think that as Muslim women, it's about being comfortable in your skin and displaying who you are, without feeling like you have to be on the defensive. Most people out there are open minded so it's good to remember that in interviews. Glad you like the criss-crossing ;o) hope you're well x

  • @Amenakin you're so right, it was definitely something i had to get over when moving here, though again sadly i know friends with hijab who got discriminated against in jobs in ARAB countries!, confidence is always key!

OH and going with sincere "tawakol" on Allah (aw), and making "estikhara" prayer when possible, even if just saying the dua'a before going in :)

  • I'm still at school and that's why I actually don't need the tips for now at least but your lovely way and your sympathy makes me watch every video ....

may alla´h reward you greatly for making me happy amena sis :) may allah keep shaytan and all bad things away from your loved ones , especially your 2 lovebugs :) !

  • @journeytopeace Are you going to work again after you've had your princes ?

  • @journeytopeace Aw, I'm SO glad that the video makes you happy, alhamdullilah! And thank you so much for your duas - means a lot x

  • BHS sell the Tammy clothes you were talking about :) x

  • Tammy IS Still Around - Its In The BHS Store :))

  • perfect vid at a perfect time :]

i have an interview soon, and because i'm a new hijabi i'm slightly unconfident i don't know why but i feel like i'll be judged on it and a muslim with her hair on show is more likely to get the job because i may seem controlled and opressed but i neeed it and WANT it soooo bad.

How do i shine and stand out positively

    :)

    its for the police x

  • Mashallah! Your videos are seriously a life saver! I just began wearing hijab full time a few weeks ago! I am the only student at my university who does and everytime I try your styles I get oodles of compliments! I am looking for a job now so this video will come in handy! Thank you sister!

  • @muslimahlikeyou You're welcome!! Congratulations on becoming a full time hijabi :o)

  • i laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaav youuuuuuuuuu!

  • @Asma06X lol! <3

  • Amena thanks for the video! The problem that I have with suits is that they don't cover my rear end properly and I'm not comfortable with that. I think wearing a longer shirt underneath is gonna make it look less professional. Do you have any suggestions for more coverage?

  • @Maryamk121 some arab or possibly also indian style tunics look very classy to suits in my opinion.. they will come to the middle of your thigh if you are comfortable with that (and when your pants are not too tight i suppose) or close to your knee dependin on your own height and the style..something about them suits simply colored suits like black or grey or white quite well in my opinion.. youll have to try! (some countries call the style kurta, under "tunic" you should find lots, too!)

  • I like your videos a lot, but why your hijabs are allways so big? Can you make video where your hijab is not so big and thick? :)

  • ahh i love the longer videos <3

  • Concerning the hands shaking...it's very interesting for me because I've recently spent some weeks in a muslim country and I didn't notice that the girls and boys would keep such distance. I didn't know this formal contact is a problem. Or is it just personal preference?

  • loool i love how u get all serious at the start like ur in an interview. THANK YOU sister Amena for doing this for us xxxxxx

  • yaaay i'm glad you're doing HFW!!

  • Whoa why so many dislikes?I loved your tips Amena you never fail to impress, thanks. It would be nice to get interview questions tips in another video if you have time.

  • @BecksShorty she gets dislikes from atheists who bullied her and haram police but we love YOU AMENA :))))))

  • @hannahraheem I'm an atheist who believes in modesty and I like her videos, if the bullies happen to be atheist so be it but the important issue is the fact that they are just bullies. I would like to think that Amena would respect my right to be an atheist as much as I respect her right to be Muslim.

  • Can't help it but it seems e flowers on e wallpaper has bloomed -3

  • Thank u so much for this interview video tips. This gonna be very helpful to me Insha Allah in the near future for any new oncomings interview as well as for many sisters, I'm sure :). And m'A formal clothes suits u very well..

  • Tammy is in BHS :)

  • Assalamu alaikum sister thanks a lot for this OOTD it helped a lot I love the style Allah hafiz

  • Can you please do winter outfit ideas for those who wear the jilbab but still want to look stylish? :)

  • @summybummy Sure, i'A!

  • Any tips on how to stay calm and not get nervous? =)

  • @iloveyummyfood Practice lots and pray!

  • Oh and of course u look lovely in the suit Amena!

  • Mashallah thanks for THE tips!

    Love, NY

  • @Nouray1985 you're welcome, Nouray!

  • OmG. I just can't believe it! I shook hands with a doctor today and then felt guilty all day!!!! It was one of those REALLY awkward moments where u just do it and then think WHY?! Anyway, I love black suits with a hijaab, only problem is finding a top that covers properly!

  • @Reeyah12 haha been there! :)

  • @Reeyah12 Was it an interview for something?

  • @Reeyah12 OMG me too!!!!

  • your at the PD hq?

  • Tammy has a section in BHS now, but is closed as a solo store btw :)

  • @thespectrebride I'll keep an eye out for it - thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • Mashallah, this video was uploaded just in time, seeing as I have a job interview this week! Perfect timing or what? :O xx

  • @zahraz4real Ooh, hope it goes well!

  • :O salaam sister amenaa!... great video once aagain, without being a pest just wanted to ask u (for about the third time lol :-s) that beautiful pink wallpaper: where isit from? where? when lol, x

  • @Rimah10 Wa 'alaikum as-salaam! It's from a shop called O&S Wallpaper in Leicester

  • tammy is now around in BHS :D it's no longer a shop though

  • @thepersonthatiscrazy oh ok! Thanks

  • amena just a quick question that i was wondering.. when the interviewer would offer to shake your hand if he's a man.. how would youuu.. 'respectfully decline'?

  • @DentistHH I'll be honest! In an interview situation - and this is the only exception I ever make - I do shake hands briefly with the male interviewer/s

  • @Amenakin Sorry, I just realised that's of no use to you lol. If you would like to respectfully decline to shake the male interviewer's hand, what you could do is smile and nod. That gives the hint usually. But if they extend their hand just apologise first and mention quickly that you personally don't shake hands with males and that you hope that you haven't caused offence (if he's already extended his hand).

  • @DentistHH I read in an islamic book that it's okay to shake hands for things like that, but if you do get the job, and they're the type of people to shake hands whenever you walk in and out, then you should tell them that you don't shake hands. But in that particular islamic book, it said specifically interviews like parent/teacher interviews and things like that, since the parent would probably only be seeing that teacher just that time.

  • @DentistHH May I share a tip that I have recently learned! if u r expecting to be hand shaken in any kind of professional event or even any occasion, just put your hands together shaken in the right position prior to meeting someone which is behind your back, keep in that position but exaggerate the face expressions of smiling and welcoming to the other person to compensate, when they see u doing that, they'r most likely won't offer shaking hands, also some of them already know! best wishes.

  • That was so helpful! Thanks for coming back to your viewer's wishes. You are always so inspiring. I love your way of dressing. Thanks again and all the best <3

  • @wonderlandies You're welcome! I'm just glad that it was useful

  • inshAllah one day when I'm older I will be taking many of these tips for a job interview in canary wharf :)

  • @DentistHH i'A!! Wish you all the best for it! :oD

  • Thanks Sis Amena =D Can u please tell me which hijab stye ur wearing in the second outfit?

  • @Riz86 sorryyy already found it.... =)

  • @Riz86 no probs :o) Hope you find it useful

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • @nashvillegirl1 thank you!!

  • 3 u! :-)
