I want to do this for my six year old but the eye doc keeps telling his dad and I that its foolish and doesnt work and is the biggest form of quackery. How do I get dad to understand its at least worth a try. I believe in this!
@aRawLifestyle Do some more reading about vision therapy and share this with your husband. Your child's well being is more important than a Doc's biased opinion.

holy shit ive suffered my whole life from this defect and i tho iam mentally ill or something it made me struggle in my highschool and now i know theres a treatment !!!!
i did on and off. This was few yrs ago. I've seen the dr. on 24 dcmbr this yr and he told to wear some glasses for about 5 to 6 weeks and i got to start some therapy again but i have a feeling that they r not taking me seriosly. I don't know if its my insurance or what. Also there is another dr. in town that i heard he is really good but he doesn't take any insurance and his fees r too high can't afford it .....anyway thnx alot for replying back :)
While i keep on listening to you it sounds as u r describing my probl. I have dealing w/this for yrs. I've gone to diff. dr. even tham couldn't underst.what was my probl. i kept on taking anti-depres. not working. I did some reasearch online thats how i found out my probl. so than i was diag. w. strabis. converg. insuffi. and my eyes r turned a little inward (week muscle). So besides headaches,my eyes et times get kind a buldgy and it feels like they r out of the orbit also i have anxiety !
In addition, I've also undergone surgery for strabismus when I was 2 years of age (I'm 22 now), and still have a little of it on my left eye when I'm not focusing.. Can Vision Therapy still help me in the right way, even though I've undergone these suregerys?
@MortenSkjemstad I have a number of post surgical strabismic patients who I am also guiding toward greater functional vision with much success. Check out my blog on the beyond2020vision site. Some people are even have depth perception changes which is very encouraging.
@eyeconfess Ahh.. so pleasing to hear!! Thank for the fast answering... I love the fact that I finally stumbled upon this.. I knew there had to be a way to consciously affect my own sight...
Kaplan I have a very important question!!! Can you have as much benefit from Natural Vision Therapy when you already have undergone LASEK, and it wasn't perfect? (For instance I see double when I look at lights with my left eye, and non of them are near 20/20).. Can I still fix my eyes with Vision Therapy?
@MortenSkjemstad I have worked with clients who have had Lasik and other forms of corrective surgery. The approach is to increase functional vision. What this means is to increase function with what is present. This means there may still be residual problems, however, the person has greater visual efficiency. You would need to speak to an individual Doctor who specialises in vision therapy to find out what their approach might be.
I'm 20 yo and unfortunately I have no stereoscopic vision. I live in Poland and I've been looking for a solution since last year I guess, but without success by far. I'm afraid there's no hope for me. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance
@kaplaneyecode I found out I had amblyopia when I was about 6 or 7, I was told to wear a patch but never did, I recently went to the eye doctors and they gave me glasses and said there is nothing I can do with my eye and that I mite have an astigmatism in it. All I want to know is the truth, What can I do about my eye!? I've had a cat scan but they said they never found anything. I just want it fixed so I can see better. Please help!
@dhayden2101 - Thanks for your comment. I would suggest you bring this question up in the group Ask Dr. Kaplan on eyecode.info You have to be a member first and then Dr. Kaplan will respond.
i also have double vision =( im 20 and i hate wearing primas glasses because they are horrible i have been wearing them since i was 11 i there is no result. i never did vision therapy exercises coz my doctor didnt recomend it for me =S
Surgery for a short time will correct how the eye looks, but it will soon drift. The only way I have found to correct amblyopia or strabismus is through VT. Plus, you must be committed totally. You can't take time off from it. I feel for anyone who has to deal with eye problems.
VT has saved me. I've been doing it for six years now, and my eyes are finally going right. It's been difficult, but it's worth it not to be looked down on because of having a goofy eye or looking scary. I also don't miss the terrible headaches and the tightness my eyes experienced. I had two surgeries and wish I hadn't.

Vision therapy as described here is orthoptic exercises for convergence insufficiency. CI can cause bothersome double vision and headaches while reading. (reading glasses will make CI WORSE!) VT is really helpful! As for the behavioral or learning disability benefits I've yet to read a good independent well-conducted sufficiently powered controlled prospective study in any respectful peer-reviewed journal. At best VT's role is controversial...
The vision therapy I described in this video is actually integrated vision therapy, that is based on a book I wrote called: The Power Behind Your Eyes. This plus other books describe clinically valid procedures with many references to valid research. This approach is way beyond Convergence training, truly a new generation of vision care, that goes beyond the treatment of symptoms and directly to the cause. I am a living example of the benefits.
Fantastic, looking inside, connecting eye problems to deeper problems...creating insight, and we can control everything...and how life can become different according to us. Thank you"
is this convergence insufficiency? i was diagnosed with it, i am a student and i find it extremely difficult to study and read. i think i need to seek out vision therapy as well.
Yes, convergence insufficiency was one part of the problem. The other, was the movement toward exotropia and double vision. Definitely seek out vision therapy.
i hate wearing glasses... i cant think as well... i cant wear contacts cus my eyes are to dry... i am going to try to relax my eyes and body and get rid of my glasses for good... i feel ur pain.
