If you're aiming downwards at a log like in the clip, barring freak accidents like sneezing and shooting into the air etc. all of which can happen at a shooting range. Unless someone sneaks up and throws themselves infront of the barrel there's no chance of hitting anyone.

FMJ.( Full Medal Jacket) is no legally up for sale in the U.S.A due to the highly penetrable round that could easily put a lethal wound in someone so I doubt you have access to that.

JHP (Jacketed Hollow Point) is considered the best option for most situations, because it expands and stops at the first thing it hits. FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) is generally cheaper and should be used only for target practice.

Although the news media tries to make JHP look bad (usually by uneducated news reporters), FMJ is really the ammo most likely to cause issues, because it's hard shell causes it to over-penetrate and unpredictably ricochet off objects.

I want stopping power for a large animal. As for people, the easily concealed glock 26 is more than sufficient (especialy with hollow points). I do fully intend to purchase a 22 if for no other reason than they are fun for plinking and easy to aim. I was just thinking a 44 mag is a little overkill and would hurt my wrist (for bears and such)...

12 gauge shotgun with slugs or maybe plated 000 buck and/or at least a .44 magnum(not with hollowpoints you want penetration), probably bigger if your worried about grizzly bears, trust me your glock 26 and probably even a 357 magnum will just piss it off, also you want to stick with revolvers for stuff like this things become very cramped with a bear on top of you
