we used actual wake textures on a mesh conformed to the water surface added displacement and deform the mesh and UV's to give the static textures a moving appearance. and other trickery to dissipate the tail of the wake
@whelanmark3d hey, i was just wondering for the water simulation did u use real flow and integrated it with 3ds max as the water and waves look very natural! cause i want do something similar for my FYP, basically i want model a jet ski sailing through the sea, just like yours! i will be very greatful if you could help me!
Ocean surface was created using Houdini Ocean Toolkit for Max or hot4max, its a free mesh plugin, converted this to a tiling animated displacement map for the large scale ocean surface.
