I can't use a sling with the retention cord on my ring finger like he describes. Everyone I sling with uses their middle finger. But to each, his own.

Most people would get a really bad boxer's break if they punched out a windshield or a window, so if you nailed a guy in the head, or even the chest (Or crotch), he'd be screwed. Specially if your ammo and sling is little bigger and you can make good hits.

Ok, first you have to do is stop by the Balearic Islands and buy a decent sling, before completing a course on using the sling because you have no idea. Use it in a place outdoors and not near the traffic. And please, do not use marbles projectile, used tennis balls are more visible and do much damage.

thats the right way to do it for range, but should be thrown overarm like a cricket bowl for accuracy, spinning above your head can be difficult to release accurately.

Wrong.

A slingshot can only use as much force as the surgical tubes can apply. Which isn't much once you start sing a projectile around the size of a quarter.

A sling however applies the forces of inertia, your arm strength, and your weight. Plus you can apply it equally up to fairly large projectiles.

The sling is older then the Bow and Arrow and isn't used to day simply because we have guns. If we didn't have guns slings would be superior to the Bow in every way other then warfare because of it's simplicity, efficiency and ease of construction.

There are much easier ways of getting small game. Such as trapping. Personally I would opt for another method. I wouldn't try slinging and flinging marbles. NOT without a good slingshot.

here how i do it . . .when i build one, i put a tiny loop in the end and i feed the rest through to make a bigger loop to put your whole hand in. then i seat a stone or something in the pouch with one hand, and with the other i follow the strings back to my other hand, placing them both in the palm . . .and leading out through the thumb and fore finger.

If anyone is planning to hunt somewhere along the line, do yourself a favour and practice the over arm style exclusively. :D At the cost of some range, you gain superb accuracy benefits. As for the marble idea, a marble works the same as the traditional pebble... it'll kill for sure close up with a skilled arm, provided the projectile uses a realistic weight adjusted to the target to be eliminated, using a good braided sling for accuracy's sake. :D

Again, this was a theory debate, and not one based on practicality...Of course no idiot is going to try and kill a bird or a mouse with a marble from a small and lightly constructed sling, such as two bits of string and a cloth pouch. Point is in a house, with a sling like that and a marble, you could kill that small game. Keep in mind theory, I'm not going to try. Oh and that level of accuracy is possible with daily practice for 40 years. Try both, if you don't believe me.

you got it all wrong bud, make the sling longer,put the loop around index fingse,put the realese string between the middle and index. rotate it clockwise over head like a helicopter.Once your readey to throw wait till the pouch is directly behind you and draw back your arm at the same time like your throwing a pitchand relese string wile pitching it side are, takes a day of practice
