I have one of these with a 4 inch barrel. It's relatively accurate. However, the trigger and hammer pull is very stiff. I have run about 500 rounds through it and its still stiff. My thumb is getting very strong. Also, the spent brass sometimes is difficult to extract.
I used to plink away at cans, bottles and small plastic army figurines as a kid with the Walther model 2 .22 rifle that i still have over here in Sweden. Still as far as handguns goes, we're pretty screwed on that deal, have to be an active member in a shooting club to get the license to own one.
Purchased a 941 22 mag a few weeks ago and am in the process of the Taurus return nightmare part 3 (cylender locks up mis fires cylender will not rotate, ect...) WOW what junk; do not buy this junk!!!!
@JUKEBOXX1990 In my opinion it was poor machining and shop practice. Taurus sent Fedex to my front door on each of the returns and the gun was sent back to me within a few days but this did me no good as the gun was never fixed. The cylender would stop rotating after about 20 rounds, unable to swing the cylender out etc.. (yes, it was clean). I have already sold this junk for a fraction of what I paid for it. This was my personal experience with Taurus.
@boatslob damn that really sucks to hear that..what do you have now.cause i was really considering the taurus..also i only want a revolver in .22.thanks for your answers
@JUKEBOXX1990 I do not own a 22 revolver at this time. I own a .357 Smith and wesson that is a good revolver and smith makes a .22 revolver in single/double action. Ruger makes the single six .22 revolver (single action only). Taurus is much cheaper in price and they tout the "lifetime warranty", but for me it is not worth it, because I like to actually fire the guns that I purchase, so next month I will be shopping myself. Good luck.
Great video will subscribe when soon but would like to hear more about the gun also that's one of my best childhood memories shooting cans and signs with a .22
they do heat up after about a 100 rounds.bring another gun with you and let the 22 cool down.it will be fine.sometimes they seize up its the heat they get hot.i have the magnum version the 941 and have had no problems with it.love these pistols
@coltperc.... What is a "recoil shield" on a revolver? I know what the "forcing cone" is, but not the "shield.". Please educate me.
@Hickock45, great video as usual. Id love to see a comparrison with this gun vs the S&W m617 .22 revolver. More reviews i reaf say the 617 has major reliability probs. Im now sold on this Taurus.
I plink with not only with tin cans, but also 2 liters because my parents drink over a dozen a week, and soda cans 'cuz my bro drinks 'bout 2 cans a day. No, I'm not kidding you.
I own this particular model, the gun does feel solid in your hand. Personally I think the trigger is a little on the heavy side. I've shot a wide range of rounds from a super colibri cap to a 60 grain 22.
@deathfromabove555 No, unfortunately, the model 94 is in .22 long rifle only. You can buy a Taurus that shoots a .22 Magnum. However, the .22 long rilfe is cheaper and will deliver a lethal blow to the heart, lungs, liver, brain, and eyeballs of any human or animal. Many a man has drawn his last breath due to the .22 long rifle ammunition.
Normal grains for a solid "head" is 40grains, HP are 36 grains, Subsonic are 40 grains, colibri are 60 grains and stingers can go either 36 grains or lower depending on the manufacturer.....
Hi. First of all, thanks for the tutorial you're providing on youtube. I'm figuring out a cal 22 for my wife. Actually I am considering the weight, looking for something really light. What can you tell me about it?
Barricade, my range is 3, 7, and 21 yds. At three and 7 I'm at a 2" and 5" group on da. At 21 on sa I'm somewhere around 7", give or take. After 2k rounds my finger is way stronger, and this gun keeps on kicking.
When I say this I really mean it, .22 is the most deadly caliber ever made. It's what assassins use, and it's cheap. It does that job with little sound a recoil. My personal favorite caliber next to .357 in pistols.
I have the same exact revolver fell in lov with it because of the finish but my trigger finger began to get sore from shooting it so much gonna trade for a ruger vaquero bisley with a lil cash
@excap your gay, why do u watch videos just to post hater comments go somewhere else to do that shit. and let me shoot u with a 5.56 MM out of an AR15 (.22 Caliber) and see if u can make it to 87 before your heart stops u fuck
S&M P22 Semi Auto, I put 800 rounds through it the first day, not one jam or failure. Repeated it with 500 rounds 2 weeks later same story. No Jams, Failures, excellent automatic .22. BUT.. It's not going to be my defense gun for 64 year old momma. Round in chamber, it has tension on the firing spring so no. Despite how great it is I just don't' trust a cocked gun even with a safety. This looks like a great revolover, would you trust your life to it if no large round was viable?
@vulpixgrant Don't listen to people who say 22's aren't deadly you have a better chance of killing someone with a 22 than a 9mm or.38. 22 LR Remington Yellow Jacket hollow points are a good no recoil self defense round, I have shot them many times. I put a few threw 2- 2x4's lined up together easily penetrated both. And if it hit a bone per say in a living creature they tend to bounce around internally and ruin a lot of vital organs, And yes this gun is trustworthy but a bit heavy for a 22.
@donniedarko66699 - Bought one a week after I posted, sent it back to Taurus the next day. Got a Defective Cylinder that the spent cartridge didn't want to eject... But it's a known defect and I got a unlucky one. Should have it back in a couple days. But it did Fire and it's very accurate for what it is. I know 22's are deadly, just like any round is with proper shot placement. LR is not ideal, but can shrapnel in body tearing up the insides like you said. Have NAA 22 Mag/LR WASP also.
Hi Hickok I watch alot of your videos, havent seen them all, keep it up best shooting videos Ive come accross. Anyway I got one of these 94s for my brother for his b-day. He picked it up and we shot it today, its got to go back to bass pro and be returned to taurus. Nothing works well and I was tired and my fingers hurt after 100-150 rounds. Mt brother maybe shot 50 or so and he was tired. I shoot 357s and 45 colts alot, 22 should be cake, not the case today.
hickik i love your videos, after seeing this video i went out and bought a taurus 94, this is the second gun you have inspired me to buy the first being the xdm, keep up the good work
That was an awfully long winded excuse to fire a 1911 at the end there. In the future if you just want to pull out a 1911 in the middle of a video, its okay, go ahead. You don't need a reason.
aquila's are the worst for you gun ever. i could litteraly see the black smoke coming out of the barel, as i watched the bullet curve, twas a sad story.
my only complainte with it is the trigger pull aswell. i got rid of mine cuz of the trigger pull and got a ruger mark 3. much better trigger. let me know if the trigger loosens up. i wouldnt mind getting another one if the trigger was better.
I just got this gun I hope I don't get any problems with it as you and a few others are having. If you find out what's going on please post a video on that . Thanks in advance
@hickok45 Hey, mine starts to get a little sticky after a couple hundred rds or so. Seems it has a little trouble after it gets warm. I read that polishing the cylinder works wonders, but I haven't done that yet. Let me know what you guys find out please. Thanks.
@hickok45 The trick on Taurus revolvers is to polish the face of the recoil shield, until the hang-up problem goes away. I've had to do this on Taurus Tracker 357 Mag and 45 ACP, as well as the Model 94. On the 45 ACP Tracker, I actually had to file the firing pin area of the shield until it was "square" to the rest of the shield. Now it will also fire 45 Auto Rim!
I remove the cylinder and use 400 grit wet&dry sand paper wrapped around a file. Taurus revolvers are a bit too tightly fitted.
Hey hickok45... after watching your video here, I went out to Guns and Leather and picked up one of these little Model 94ULs (2 inch version). Thanks for the great info in your video. Good to see Tennessee represented so professionally and thoroughly on YouTube. Keep up the good work.
you are right about 22 bullets being dirty. I have 2 semi auto rifles, a mosberg plankster and a marlin 60ss and after about 40 rounds with the remington ammo it starts to missfire and get jammed up.
I have the same pistol in blue with 5" bbl. I bought it for the small grip for my son to learn to shoot with. Taurus revolvers have heavy trigger pulls in DA. I own 4 Taurus pistols - 2 revolvers and 2 semis. Taurus usually work well or are problematic. Mine all function well.
oh jeez, i just saw this in a gun store.... the steel was black though, but it was the same gun. it looks amazing, but in that store they had it going for way too much
What is your overall opinion of Taurus firearms? I will be buying my first pistol pretty soon (a little late getting to it), and my girlfriend's stepdad is big an Taurus guns. He has a PT99 that I shot the other day and it seemed alright. He also has a Judge he likes a lot. I do however hear a lot about their quality being poor from other folks though, and was just wondering what you thought of them.
@savagesanity i personally would not buy a taurus. had a 22 pump and was not built well had trouble with the quality of it. looked at a 22 pistol and the person at the store himself said it was junk. spend the extra money and get a smith and wesson you will not regret it take my word
@savagesanity i wouldnt say taurus guns are poorly made. id just say they are not as well made as others, but the good thing about taurus they have a lifetime warranty. which you cant beat ever. i have a taurus 1911. out of about 3000 rounds mine has only stove piped once and i think that is because of my handload
@savagesanity my experience: bought a Judge and was disappointed at the precision and tightness of cylinder lockup for what it cost. the firing pin broke and Taurus was right on top of sending Fedex over, for free, to pick it up and send to Florida to fix it. got it back in 3 days!! fired 10 rounds and works fine but i WILL sell it. i'm pretty sure i'll never buy a Taurus revolver again. recently paid the extra to get a S&W 357 revolver and am very impressed with the workmanship.
i wish i could say i grew up on .22's.But unfortunately ive only shot one .22 rife and it was real fun.Im 15 and have been growwing up more on little metal bb guns.lol
I bought an M94 just over a month ago. Its used and I would say it was broke in well. I really enjoy shooting it. I just wanted to say I enjoyed your video. It was well made and fairly informative. Thanks
Recently bought a Taurus M94 for the cheap ammo, 9mm gets expensive when you shoot 300 rounds every time you go shootin', The first time I took out the Taurus, I lost the yoke retaining screw assembly! The screw's on backorder through Taurus! I would love to see some more of the 94 in some your next vids while my gun is down.
HIckock, I have to correct you. For many in the US, the .22 is no longer part of growing up... sadly, it has been replaced by electronics. We need to make our future generations aware of the outdoors, and firearms especially.
I never really had an interest in .22 pistols, but you completely sold me on the Taurus 94. Thanks for the video Hickok. I'm a big fan of your channel.
@shockeyshock , Thanks. Just keep coming back, and make sure you have not missed any videos! :-) Let's see, though, if you were going to send me some back issues of my favorite Hugh Hefner publication, I'll be firing off my address to you! :-)
@hickok45 haha, get this, my father passed down his pb mags to me, and one of them, suprisingly is a 1974 issue of pb, with Nancy Cameron on the cover. =), but unfortunatly, that one is an untouched classic my father passed down, he has others, wonder if he'll let me send one off to ya!! lol, take it easy Hickok
I only shot remington golden bullets in my walther p22 because of the price. when i first got it I used 100 rounds of cci mini mags to break it in ( first 10rd mag of remington did not work well) after that the golden bullets work about 98%. but i have no luck with the weichester and federal in my p22
Hey Hickok, I was looking for a .22 semi-auto pistol but all I hear about the models I like (Walther P22, Sig Mosquito, ISSC M2 and others) is that they all have jams and none of them are 100% reliable.
Do you think that revolvers are the only 100% reliable design for a .22 handgun?
mate wow ur so accurate in every one of your shots, yes u may occationally miss one but otherwise ur an awsome shot with all your handguns, i like your revolver the most, it looks so good
it is a shame that in the uk we are not allowed to enjoy shooting like you guys in the US the problem over here is that people who know nothing about guns like to over react when ever the word gun is mentioned and the Gov bring in laws to make those same poeple believe that they are safe the truth is there are more illegal guns in the country in the hands of some very bad people not responsible shooters.
your video posts are the closest i'll ever come to pistol shooting thanks hickok45
Hey hickok you mention shooting when you were a kid.. Did your father and everyone witness you to be a great shot then or was it something you discovered when you were aged? I wont say old you have the spirit of a kid on that range haha! thank you for sharing your time and skills!!
hi hickok45 I live in the uk and I left shool when I was 12 so me and my dad did a lot of shooting at tin cans but wher I com from the frist gun you get is a airrifl and mine was a b2 I still shoot whith it but me and my dad did shoot cans and rats :)
The 22short is small but the 4mm M20 is tiny. I have a revolver which comes in this caliber. It´s like plinking around with a pellet gun. "piff" ............... "ping" ;)
I've used those three bulk .22s. It seems to me like the Federal and Winchesters are extremely similar. They might even be made on the same machines. They're accurate and reliable; the only problems I've had have involved a Ruger Mark 2 with a weak striker. The Remingtons, however are foul. They're dirty, inaccurate, and inconsistent. I can hear the difference in powder charge between the shots.
These cost like $375-$400:( I wish I had a lot of money:(

Can't really shoot .22 mag and .22 lr from the same cylinder anyway. It's not the same as .357 and .38 or .44 special and .44 magnum.

my only complainte with it is the trigger pull aswell. i got rid of mine cuz of the trigger pull and got a ruger mark 3. much better trigger. let me know if the trigger loosens up. i wouldnt mind getting another one if the trigger was better.

This reminds me of my childhood H&K 9 shot 22 LR. A very fun gun to plink with in the country.

Hey, do you have any issues with the model 94 seizing after a few hundred hounds?
kalel01a 1 year ago
@kalel01a , Actually, it starts hanging up after 10 or 15. We're still working with it trying to figure out where the problem is.
hickok45 1 year ago
@hickok45 Hey, mine starts to get a little sticky after a couple hundred rds or so. Seems it has a little trouble after it gets warm. I read that polishing the cylinder works wonders, but I haven't done that yet. Let me know what you guys find out please. Thanks.
kalel01a 1 year ago
@hickok45 Have you found out the cause of the hang up? Could it be lead buildup around the forcing cone?

@kalel01a i am looking at the sam thing. how is the accuracy 6 months down the road? 20-25 ft accuracy? 50 ft accuracy?
i kno it is a short barrel so i want to c just how it performs compared to the 4 inch.
baracade777 7 months ago
you are right about 22 bullets being dirty.

I do however hear a lot about their quality being poor from other folks though, and was just wondering what you thought of them.
savagesanity 1 year ago
@savagesanity i personally would not buy a taurus. had a 22 pump and was not built well had trouble with the quality of it. looked at a 22 pistol and the person at the store himself said it was junk. spend the extra money and get a smith and wesson you will not regret it take my word

@savagesanity i wouldnt say taurus guns are poorly made. id just say they are not as well made as others, but the good thing about taurus they have a lifetime warranty. which you cant beat ever. i have a taurus 1911. out of about 3000 rounds mine has only stove piped once and i think that is because of my handload
dSOVIETb 1 year ago
@savagesanity my experience: bought a Judge and was disappointed at the precision and tightness of cylinder lockup for what it cost. the firing pin broke and Taurus was right on top of sending Fedex over, for free, to pick it up and send to Florida to fix it. got it back in 3 days!! fired 10 rounds and works fine but i WILL sell it. i'm pretty sure i'll never buy a Taurus revolver again. recently paid the extra to get a S&W 357 revolver and am very impressed with the workmanship.

I was wondering besides the caliber and the fact it only shoots eight, is there any extreme difference between the 94 and the 941?
iSh0cKzz 1 year ago
@iSh0cKzz the 941 is 22 magnum and the 94 is 22 long rifle.

It sure is obvious Taurus sure doesn't shoot like a Smith or Glock. Darn good shooting though. Great video tooo....

HIckock, I have to correct you. For many in the US, the .22 is no longer part of growing up... sadly, it has been replaced by electronics. We need to make our future generations aware of the outdoors, and firearms especially.

JoeDurobot 1 year ago
@JoeDurobot Semi-autos are almost never 100% for a .22.
creepycody 1 year ago
@edd217 I think Hickok doesnt know about long term storage, he must shoot all the ammo he can find in the house as soon as he sees it.

mate wow ur so accurate in every one of your shots, yes u may occationally miss one but otherwise ur an awsome shot with all your handguns, i like your revolver the most, it looks so good

it is a shame that in the uk we are not allowed to enjoy shooting like you guys in the US the problem over here is that people who know nothing about guns like to over react when ever the word gun is mentioned and the Gov bring in laws to make those same poeple believe that they are safe the truth is there are more illegal guns in the country in the hands of some very bad people not responsible shooters.
your video posts are the closest i'll ever come to pistol shooting thanks hickok45

Hey hickok you mention shooting when you were a kid.. Did your father and everyone witness you to be a great shot then or was it something you discovered when you were aged? I wont say old you have the spirit of a kid on that range haha! thank you for sharing your time and skills!!

Looks like a nice one! You can't beat the cost of plinking with .22 either. Teaching my kids the fundamentals is much cheaper that way.
I want to look at this model the next time I'm at the gun shop.
