Read Article I, Section 8, Clauses 1 and 2. It says that Congress has power to lay and collect taxes, and to borrow on the credit of the United States for purposes of providing for the common defense and general welfare.
So the stage was set long ago by the founding fathers to enable Congress to enslave you. And there isnt a thing that you can do about it.

You don't think the defense industry would do whatever it takes to pull the wool over our eyes. There is way too much money to be made. After WWII, the defense industry never dismantled or slowed down. Citizens don't automagically go to war, they have to be shepherded to it. Germany became that way starting with Hitler's bombing of his own Reichstag.

And, for the record, I do support the stimulus package. However, I feel more should've been done to help it. Temporarily, it's effective..But that's the key word. I love the fact that we will get jobs in the private sector, and I love how infrastructure will be rebuilt. But those jobs won't last forever.
And more importantly...Alot of this money is coming from the west, over seas. It's sad, but fair that China and the East-Asian market is dominating the global economy and us.

Kireraven, it's easy. Even though they should have never passed this monstrosity, a similar thing happened under spendthrift Carter. The people offset it by saving their money. Businesses collapsed on their own and people rebuilt under Reagan. That's what is going to happen again, hopefully. But if they reelect Obama, there won't be. You have to offset spending with saving. It's common sense. Obama doesn't know how to save. If you look at his own personal history, he doesn't have a clue.

The reason why they republicans are putting up Jindal as their poster boy is because he's got the best record for producing a surplus and not a deficit. He can brag about that achievement whereas the Bush-types can't because they were never true conservatives anyway and that's the problem. We've had a republican and now a democrat, both of whom spend like crazy. We need a person who can lead the people by saving and rebuilding.

28 states as of today declared their sovereignty and put the Obama administration on notice. That's bad. That's never been done before in this many numbers. That's more than half the country who refuses, in one way or another, to accept his plans, citing the Constitution and Obama's illegal attitude toward it. Yes, under Carter the deficit did go from 65 billion to 85 billion but under Reagan, he set a new US record at 100 billion! At the end of his term it was over 200 billion! After Bush senior took it up to 400, it took that mad spender Clinton to reduce it to to almost zero. Another Bush in the White House sent it to almost 600 billion. Yes, it must be Democrats who are always the big spenders
