Haha. The old guy in blue single-handedly owned the two pro-political dynasty. He merely used reason and common sense, while the other two tries so hard to justify their side. Theyve been trying so hard to the point of stuttering and rushing their words.
I think the aftermath of the hostage taking on August 23, 2010, showed, that the Philippines are doomed. The government failed to react and clean-up. We've lost face once more. That's it.
@GaolisVideoLog I saw your comments and I must say I totally agree with you. I am from EU and I sometimes travel to Manila. If only majority of people there had your reasoning, Philippines would be an economic giant in Asia in a matter of 2 or 3 decades.
@trodmi Sorry for the late reply. My father is German. I'm currently in Germany and have been studying in Bielefeld university for the last 2 1/2 years. I am just stunned at Europe. They way everything works here is simply unbelievable compared to the Philippines.
@1818JoseRizal1898 Well, Ctrl. Luzon rose in 1896-98. And they rose only for Luzon. The revolution against USA failed, the Americans call it, upto this day, "the Philippine Insurrection". At the end, they set us free in 1946, but kept all their privileges, incl. on our resources & human rights. We had a gov. under Japanese rule. Aquino's granddad was the president back then. The Philippines, just like China or France were split into 2 govs.. Somehow this has been erased from the school books.
These two guys sen. subiri and prof. brillantes are talking SHHHT themselves. these two guys symbolized the corrupt and rotten filipino political mentalities. Shame on them..how can they compare US of A and Philippine politics. It's just the opposite of day and night. Duh!!!
The media will never broadcast anything that will hurt the image of the government.
I read Marcos has used the media well to promote his achievements as well as himself and no media has criticized his administration during Martial Law period.
If Filipinos don't want anymore Marcos or Arroyo..vote right this time. Next year is the most important year for all Filipinos.
Filipinos won't see this kind of documentary because filipino media is owned by political clans. PERIOD! And how many tv networks that can reach remote filipinos? only one and is controlled by anti marcos lopez political clan. ABS-CBN. I bet they cannot afford to air western like documentaries. Great Russia was and is ruled by peasants and what country they are!
at the end its still the people who decide if they want to be fooled by this political clans... thats one of the draw-back of true democracy, everybody can do anything, even to be fool.
This Philippine Congress has done little to help the poor since EDSA revolution, they haven't passed enough laws to benefit the welfare of the majority especially health care which is very important, anti-poverty programs such job creation through private sectors, increase funding for micro financing, legal aid services, tax breaks for companies to promote jobs in the rural areas, etc.
If people now are better than 20 years ago, people don't mind political dynasty. If it's worse..you know why
I am afraid that philosophical discussions on political dynasties lose relevance when the vast majority of the population live at or below the poverty line. Shouldn't the more compelling discussion be about a true revolution?
Political dynasties may not necessarily be bad. If they are better than non-dynasties in uplifting the lives of Pinoys, Im all for it. While Sen. Zubiri is right that better-educated & experience is preferable in leaders, the will & values to pursue the interests of the people is more so, if the nation is to progress. What the average Pinoys want is a better life. In the end, have the leaders made a difference for the people?
I cant believe this guy from UP. He is so narrow minded. And this senator is trying to talk sweet by saying the poor needs political finance - seriously, that is rubbish. We know that will not happen, and if it did, money is more than what people need to go against this dynastic families. Aye to the guy from Ateneo, at least he knows that action needs to happen now..and that dynastic politics is not true democracy. Now the real question really should be..What to do about this?
But there is alot of evidence suggesting the USA kept Marcos in power on purpose. I mean seriously....The Philippines, should be where japan is...without US Involvement it might be farther along. I love the Philippines, I love the language I wish the best for the Philippines
it's up to the filipino people itself why the political dynasties thrive...when the people sell their votes , they lose the chance to make their life better than before....so what's happen next is the same cycle for the next 100 yrs....pity!
in a country like the philippines that is blessed with cultural and social diversity,a need to change in the government structure must be imposed in order to give the proper representation of the people.not to those a few political dynasty.i believe power belongs to the people, and it is the people not the political dynasty who should have the voice in congress and senate.WAKASAN ANG MGA POLITICAL DYNASTY!!!!!
Political dynasty's have been around for all time and I do not see how stop them. They are in every country pretty much, people from the same few families having the power. You cannot expect them to make laws against themselves so it is very hard to provoke change.
You cannot solve the problem of political dynasties by simply condemning it. The right structural remedy must be the strengthening of political parties that does not allow shifting of candidates easily and that does not just allow the sons of so so to run for office overnight.
keep it up Grace!!! Break the Shackle of "False Democracy"....Inform and educate the PEOPLE of their rights!!! dont let PARASITIC clans from sucking all the HOPES and DREAMS of the improvished PEOPLE!!! dont blindly follow into the BUSH!!!!! they been in POWER 2o out of 28 YEARS!!!!
Globally Educate the young Generations, put computers in schools - education, education, education and participation...Vote out the corrupt politicians ... Dynasties can be controlled by enacting impartial laws ....
One can hardly call the few members of the Clinton family in the US political arena a "dynasty".

Filipinos are so proud of their history in terms of rising against their oppressors: Spain, America, Japan, Marcos....
But are we wise and courageous enough to rise and revolt against corruption--of our own people?

i think what your trying to say is:
Filipinos are fighters and warriors that cannot fight against poverty and corruption

that Subiri guy is from the Subiri family of Bukidnon who also LANDGRAB many Lumad lands and turned it to plantations, mining, logging
if you notice their argument he tries to minimize the bad disadvantage of Oligarch family effects in the political system of the Country
