I'd probably be inclined to accept religion and God, if it didn't seem like everyone is in a mad rush to avert some deadly penalty. After all, nothing seems to happen after we die and since none of you have died before (or have you?), how can you be sure that there is an event schedule for us after death?
@jamdungrealist I like this one so I will answer it to a degree. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Sacviour as a kid when I heard what he did for me to free me from sin. Hell wasn' t my focus at the time that I know of. It was his love that spoke to me the most. It was incredible to think tht a Creator God would actually become a man and die at the hands of the ones he created to save me from sin, destroying myself, so to speak.

@ohf27 The "who programmed the programmer" is getting old hat, so to speak. God lives outside of his creation and inside of it. He is God. He is not subject to the laws of science and because of him we have science. If he wasn't real or his word then all the things we study claiming came by chance or accident could change tomorrow. OR chance, accident is far smarter than we are since we can figure very little out in this vast creation. He is an incredible God.

The DNA in man and animals is a program, a program takes a programmer and that programmer is God. Wrong. Atheism comes from the the Greek "a" (without) "theos" (gods); "without gods". It's the lack of a belief in gods. Faith requires a positive belief, and since atheism is the lack of belief, your comment about atheism being a religion is intrinsically false.

One should make a clear distinction between the discussion At. vs Religion, and At. vs belief in a higher entity. I tend to have a greater amount of respect for someone who simply believe that there is some entity which is X ≥ Universe rather than someone who live as though fairytales from an ancient book are facts.
@Carebearbull Don't think any atheist would disagree with you there. Technically that makes you an agnostic atheist. So a guy that doesn't know whether or not a higher entity exists, but by gut feeling thinks it doesn't. Scientifically speaking the only correct answer to the question whether god exists or not is agnosticism. Whether you choose theism or atheism from there is at this point an educated guess at best.

My point is that most people in at least my country are not really atheist, even though it's often stated. @syrensounds Depends entirely on the book of the bible in question. I would highly recommend TaylorX04's "Making a Messiah", (What do we know about the NT authors?) series. I would also encourage you to do your own research into the subject as well. My understanding is various "books" of the bible was written by a number of different men in different times and places and then collected and put together after a group of men voted on which of the books were actually divinely inspired. He is not subject to the laws of science and because of him we have science. If he wasn't real or his word then all the things we study claiming came by chance or accident could change tomorrow. APES ARE QUITE COMFORTABLE IN HOW THEY WALK, just as humans are quite comfortable in how they walk. Even a slight change in the position of a muscle or bone, for either, would be excruciatingly painful and would not be an advantage for survival. As a follow up to what MrFlyingaussie wrote(up on top rated), some of these quotes could as well be pro Deism, Pantheism.
One should make a clear distinction between the discussion At. vs Religion, and At. vs belief in a higher entity. I tend to have a greater amount of respect for someone who simply believe that there is some entity which is X ≥ Universe rather than someone who live as though fairytales from an ancient book are facts.

So a guy that doesn't know whether or not a higher entity exists, but by gut feeling thinks it doesn't. Scientifically speaking the only correct answer to the question whether god exists or not is agnosticism. Whether you choose theism or atheism from there is at this point an educated guess at best.

@ps3fanboy1 If you yourself don't believe in the Bible, why does it mean atheists are gay? Also, if someone believes in a Creator he does not necessarily have to believe in the Bible. No one knows for sure if a God exixts, but everyone knows for sure that the Bible is made of fictitious fairy tales. Even God knows the Bible is a fake tribute to him.

@syrensounds Depends entirely on the book of the bible in question. I would highly recommend TaylorX04's "Making a Messiah", (What do we know about the NT authors?) series. I would also encourage you to do your own research into the subject as well. My understanding is various "books" of the bible was written by a number of different men in different times and places and then collected and put together after a group of men voted on which of the books were actually divinely inspired.
