I begun bow hunting this year. My words of wisdom, dont focus on the rack. I shot a 7point and hit him in the shoulder blade. was not a kill wound. I followed up by taking a spike. As soon as I forgot about trophy hunting I begun to focus and started getting good kill shots. I talked with an elederly man the other day who took more than 100 deer with a recurve. His advice was dont let anything walk by you as you can't be choosey with a bow.
I was given an golden eagle orion. It is prob 20 years old. but it was free. I waxed the strings, put a walmart stabilizer and fiber optic sight. Had a pro shop cut me 6 arrows and bought the cheapest release. What im trying to say is the indians killed with a bow so can you. you dont have to pay 1000 for a bow cause some celebrity tells you. Get one and practice and practice. I would rather my slow arrow kill then miss with a fast arrow.
can't believe your shot didn't blow through- did it hit sternum on the bottom or something? Looked like a yearling, no? Fine steaks, I'm sure. Congrats!
Great Video!! Real good shot!! Result. Clean humane kill.... That is what it is about.... Alot of people have opinions on both sides of the fence. If the deer is legal to take and is done as ethically and humane as you and your equipment can perform. Then it is a good deer to take. Whatever the reason someone pulls the trigger on a deer is always a personal reason for that particular time. Enjoyed your hunt alot. Hope you many more to come. TFS
nice video josh and a great shot i see everyone here has there opinion about shooting a fawn if your in it for the big does or bucks then shoot them let the fawns go but on the other hand if your providing for your family shoot whatever walks walks in front of you!! its all about what you want from the hunt
I couldn't disagree more with your comment about killing fawns..taking out fawns is a bad idea..it is the mature does that u want to kill, they are the ones that run yearling bucks off the property..and by killing mature does you keep the big bucks on their feet searching for the chance to breed..keeps competition high for the right to breed which ensures the most dominant bucks will pass on their genes.
Ok that was not a Bambi size fawn but they r good eating

Nice video. One note though, I tried to shoot some "little does" this year and ended up shooing two nub bucks, not what I was looking to do haha.

Doe fawns do get bred later in the year. It is just as important to let the doe fawns grow up as it is to let young bucks walk.
