  • Look at Carnotaurus and Abelisaurus for some relative links BTW...

  • proceratosaurus facts:

    length:(uncertain)

    Family:(Uncertain)

    Location:Europe i guess

  • Proceratosaurus is a tyrannosauroid, closer to Tyrannosaurus than it is to Ceratosaurus.

  • @MetaKnightsKirby

Mortima said Rauhut and Milner (2008) restudied the skull and referred Proceratosaurus to Tyrannosauroidea based on- short premaxilla; well-developed jugal recess; steeply sloping basisphenoid; premaxillary teeth that are considerably smaller than the maxillary teeth; D-shaped anteriormost premaxillary teeth

  • @Allosaurus333 T-Rex is actually a descent of the Ceolophysians, and Ceratosaurus is far from being juxtapose to ceolophysians, lol.

  • @MetaKnightsKirby

While this is quite possible, especially if taxa such as Guanlong and Dilong are also basal tyrannosauroids, unpublished analyses including all the supposed tyrannosauroid characters of these taxa suggest they are slightly closer to birds instead."

  • Proceratosaurus is actually a bird-like coelurosaur rather than the ancestor of Ceratosaurus.

  • well, what is certain is that it is a tetanuran (ie more derived than a ceratosaur). whether it is a coelurosaur or not, I cannot tell you for sure. one classification says its a basal carnosaur, another a coelurosaur, as you say.

I personally want to see more information first.

  • well, I'm back with a more conclusive answer: you are ceratainly correct; its not the most birdlike coelurosaur, but it sure has affinities to Ornitholestes from North America, and is one of the two oldest coelurosaurs, the other being Gasosaurus.

  • Pro ceratosaurus doesn't look like Ceratosaurus, but more like ornitholestes

  • There is believed to be not just one but two different types of british ancestors to the Ceratosaurus and they are (as shown) The Proceratosaurus and the Sarcosaurus.

  • sarcosaurus, yes (not certain), but proceratosaurus no. see my reply to heatofeast-its a tetanuran of uncertain stock-in other words it cannot be an ancestor of ceratasaurus. thus one can argue that the name is a misnomer, as it is not a ceratasaur.

  • Its alright. But you didn't have enough of Proceratosaurus. You had to much of Ceratosaurus and Ornitholestes.

    I gave it 4 stars though ^_^.

  • it has but of the Ceratosaurus and Ornitholestes because there are few images of the Proceratosaurus

  • Fair enough then. I can understand that.

I triad looking for picks of Proceratosaurus myself after I saw your video. And I only fond 3 more, then the 4 I have already -_-.
