  • I'm from Ireland and that's how we pronounce it, I have american cousins and they say uh-dee-duhs. What really pisses me off is they think they're pronuncing it correctly and we're wrong.

  • Thankyou this has settled a argument i have been having over the recent years! Thankyou so dearly!

  • german people rule!

  • i noticed americans pronounce it a-dee-dus. in australia we pronounce it ad-ee-das pretty much like the way the guy said it, americans... always trying to be different lol jokes

  • Remember though every country has it's own accent, in an English accent / American it should be pronounced a-dee-das

  • @ChrisDonaldsonVideos in my opinion that does not count for brand names. i personally think they should be pronounced the way they were "invented". another example: most people here pronounce "nike" wrong, not "nikey" but nike like "hike".

  • @assbach at russian wikipedia written what "nike" - godness and pronounce like "nee-kee".

i saw many nike commercial but in all videos "nike" never pronounce. riddle...

  • @ChrisDonaldsonVideos In English there are still two ways of saying adidas: Australians tend to say "addy-das" than "a-dee-das"

  • @ChrisDonaldsonVideos Actually in England we pronounce it the same way as the Germans. :) Or at least I always have, I'm from Nottingham.

  • Here in Australia we pronounce it adde-das

  • Lol I'm from southern U.S. and everyone here says a-DEE-dus. It sounds much prettier the German way!

  • no it isnt look at the uder 1z it difrent

  • OMG thank you. I came to North America and try to tell them the truth. But they are stubborn asses.

  • Argument won. Thank you.

  • Australians say it the same too

  • believe it or not...Thai people say exactly the correct German...uh-dii-daas

  • Im brazilian, and in portuguese its pronounced exactly this way

  • I'm from an slavic nation and everyone speaks adidas like that.

  • I say A-DEE-DAS

  • my friend at school got mad at me for telling him the correct way of saying adidas

  • wat solln dit fuern scheiss

sag das doch mal n bisschen ruhiger mit nem langen Aaaaa...

for all english/american fellows, its pronounced with a long Aaaaa...

  • at first i thought it was

    uh dee dis

  • Ich habe gelernt zu sagen adidas richtig in mein Deutsch Klasse

  • I hate when people pronounce it uh-DEE-duhs, but I think it's only in America (maybe Canada too?) where they pronounce it like that so I don't have to hear it too often :-)

  • @DavidL999 Yes, we say it au-dee-duhs. But now I know how to pronounce it the german way.

  • @dannysmith15 Yes I find it annoying too. I will continue to say uh-DEE-duhs to spite ze Germans. ;)

It actually takes a conscious thought for me to say it any other way and frankly its just not worth that 2 milliseconds.

  • thanks, I've been saying it wrong apparently

  • some ppl say add' e' das

  • After Dinner I Do A Shit (ADIDAS)

  • omg when i clicked this i tried to pronounce it by myself before listning and i got it right. yay! lol. so you live in germany? cool.

  • @destined2bebossy yes, i'm german and I still live here

  • yes you are a legend, you confirmed the CORRECT way to say adidas. (: XXXXXXXXX

  • Yeah sure, that's the German way of saying it.

The common anglicization heard in the United States is uh-DEE-duhs and thats how I say it. It sort of makes me cringe to hear news anchors employ a fake accent or pronunciation so I guess I feel the same way about this brand name.

Don't be afraid of who you are.

  • well, it's a german brand just like porsche - most american say "porsh" or "porshee" afaik - and that's just wrong. germans on the other hand say brands like "nike" wrong mostly. they dont say "nikey" but well yeah "nike" like in "like".

  • @assbach good luck going to Japan then... the pronounce everything wrong :P

  • @assbach

sorry but, WRONG! "nike" is not pronounces like "like". see IPA symbols ->

    wikipedia -> nike

the way most germans pronounce it is in fact correct :-)

  • @michaelbz wrong? what's wrong? I didn't say Nike at all. I know it's pronounced like "nikey"

  • @assbach

ahh dammit i got you wrong, sorry dude :-)

  • @michaelbz Learn to read, dumbshit. He didn't say anything wrong, pisshead.

  • @outlawbawla Yeah. Do you mean aDEEdus. When people say it like addy-das it pisses me off! some english people say it like that (southern england) GRRRRR

  • @outlawbawla thats right... I say nikey though... am German and have been to the states for a year..but u totally got that right dude

  • Bist du deutscher??

  • yes i am

  • Its a german brand its still said the same way

  • y do so many people say ad-E-dus its so annoying and they think there right....

  • Comment removed

  • this guy epically succeeds

  • finally the Americans can learn how to pronounce it properly rather than sounding like a bunch of retards

  • i say it like that. but my girlfriend says it like>> adee das it must be a northern thing.. but im from birmingham.. n americans think they mek everythin lool

  • Everyone pronounces it differently in countries because of accents but Adidas shouldn't be too hard for us Americans to say it the proper way. After all if you really listen to a German speak, you can even understand what they're saying so it really shouldn't be hard for us to say it the correct way.

Also I have come across people who say it like that.

  • Lol I have this friend who has a boyfriend who is American and he laughed at me when i said Adidas (the correct way) and he's like "i would know because it's an American brand" -_- The next time i see him I'm guna shove this in his face because i was right!! lol

  • That's how I always said.

  • yes some one witch knows how to say it im am always argueing with my frends thts how u say it but they say

    adeedus lol stupid

  • Haha, das ist lusitg! Jupp, aber so sagen wir das!:)

  • Love it! It sounds so much better than the way americans say it.

I used to live in South Africa, and the first time I heard an American pronounce Iraq eye-rack I was like 'what an idiot!' Now that I live in the U.S. I have fallen. I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I say it the same way :(

  • uddy-duss?

    add-ee-dazz?

    ad-ee-dass?

  • tell you something, in German you don't have th sound and the s is harder.................. i will go with uddy-duss making the 2 ds hard and equal and here in america people talk like crazy.........damm fast........

  • Lol.

I guess here in America we pronounce it "uh-dee-daz" It's sort of fast. i guess. I don't know. :P Lol. But that's how you pronounce it. xD

  • americans fuck up everything

you pronounce it the way he said it

seems it is a german made brand

damn americans are anoying they fuck up the english launguge

  • What the hell, man?!

    Excuse you!

I think everyone pronounces it differently in countries because of their accents and what not.

So you can just apologize to me, and that would be lovely. :D

  • Wie spricht man Adidas denn auf english aus?

  • Es ist eine deutsche Marke also spricht man es eben überall auf der Welt so aus, wenn man es richtig macht - genauso wie "Nike" "neiki" ausgesprochen wird und "Porsche" nicht "Porschi" oder "Porsch" :)

  • Achso ist das ^^

    Danke für deine schnelle Antwort

    mfG

  • I'm almost tempted to say it that way~ Except then people will be all like "huh"?

  • thats how they say it in australia

    where do you live?

  • Canada. Last person I heard saying it said it like "Ah-dee-das".

  • It sounds almost as we say it here in Chile... except for the "d"

  • I just learned this two weeks ago, i'm gonna start saying adi-dass now

  • Haha looked at this because my boyfriend was trying to teach me how to really say it. Oh North Americans.. what strange things we do to words...

  • Vielen Dank fur posten =)

  • gerne
