I LOVE YOUR VIDEO! Next week, I will be attempting to create my own headboard. I have a full size bed and have no idea what size panels I need. I was curious if it would be harder to make one long panel and many button holes? Is there something that I'd have to do much differently?
What height did you use for the panels? I would think you would need enough height to pad your head if you were sitting up. I was thinking around 36"? And do you hang them where the panels end right at the top of the mattress? Because I've seen some where they are hung so where it ends at the top of the boxspring. If I did it this way, I would have to add about 11". Thoughts?
This was made for a queen size bed. Each panel was cut just fractions under 20" wide. The were about 19 1/2" as I remember. The full width of a queen size bed is 60".
Do you think you could make a list of the items you need for the project right under the video for the rest of your videos. It would be very helpful to us newbie DIYers.
I love this video, I can't wait to make my headboard, but I want to use one big piece of wood for my queen size headboard. Do you know where I could find one? Thanks in advance! :-)
This is a great video. And I really enjoy how simple you keep things. I am going to make a headboard soon and I plan to follow these guidelines. Thanks.
I love love this idea, I can't wait to make this!!! I was wondering what size wood did you have, and how big do you think my headboard would be for a queen size bed? Thank you so so much... I can't to get started!!! :-)
How would you do this to a headboard that was attached to the bed? I want to upholster my existing headboard but it's attached to the bed, not the wall so you can see the back. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you!
You are really cool for doing this. I have a question, what exactly were you doing at 5:38? Oh and if i wanted, could I drill more holes for the buttons?
Hi, you make it look so simple. Awesome. But WHERE did you get the mounting hardware? What is it called? I am struggling to find such hardware to mount my headboard. Thank you
Hi Shelly, I have a queen size bed. I have a three panel headboard that I am planning to reupholster and maybe shorten height. I know your headboards are 20" in width but what about in height? They look rectangular.
@saidabella6 They are rectangles. You can get them cut to any size you want. To be honest, I think these are a little short. I think you should at least make them 26" inches tall. I was conserving on wood.
i was wondering if i could just double on the batting casue the foam is kinda expensive will it still look good?, or is ther a substitute for the foam?.. btw love this!!
Alicepin-It's a long tufting needle, not a crochet needle. Not sure a crochet needle would work. You can hang three in a row right on the wall. Super easy, efficient, easy to move, etc.
Well, I made ours with the three 20" panels, with padding and a little space in between so they go a smidge beyond the mattress on each side. You can do them any way you want, any measurement you want. They look good no matter what. I've got like a billion headboard ideas for filming.
Damn... thats one of the best DIY's so far! Great job on conveying the simplicity of making a tufted headboard/s. So accessible, and now I am going to make myself a tufted headboard! =)

What size is each panel? and is that for a king side bed?

Hi, just wondering what you need the cotton batting for? Could you just put the fabric over the foam?
BenAar0n 2 months ago
@BenAar0n You always need a buffer between fabric and foam. Even though the headboard won't get any wear and tear, it makes the fabric look nicer.

is the width suppose to be identical to the bed's width? or is it suppose to be few inches wider to look good?
