  • STRANGELY ENOUGH I LIKE THE MUSIC IN THE INTRO

  • I actually thought the song was ok.

I know, I know, usually I hate random songs I never heard of on intro videos too.

  • Good video. Great weapon. Can you describe how the loaded stripper clips were installed in the ammo pouches? Thanks.

  • pretty german shepard in the back round

  • SKS are so awesome. Why anyone would buyer a Ruger mini 14 when these are available is beyond me.

  • Great view on the sks, I have a norinco paratrooper that I modified with the tapco stock and 20rd mags. This video no has me in the process of converting it back to stock config. because it looks so much better that way. Thanks

  • i have a chinese type 56 sks and im wondering if there is any way you can remove the barrel from the reciever?

  • nice shooting. I have two yugos-one used with grenade launcher and the other a "new manufactureed" one-basically is a reworked yugo no grenade launcher and a new barrel. I was really impressed with the accuracy of both rifles.

  • now thats a sexy SKS if thats possible

  • Every time I take mine out, after about an hour in the sun oil seeps out of the wood like crazy. I guess it’s from when they packed it. Anyone else’s do that?

  • Izhevsk is the town where the izhmash factory is, right?

  • @Anounulisly I believe so, there's a couple of good official Izhmash factory videos showing the factory and their products over time. It's in Russian, but if you don't speak Russian like me, you can still understand generally what's going on.

  • where do i find a grnade at for my sks . thank you

  • this music is horrible its like a spanish wannabe iron maiden but they dont even come close!!!!

  • name of the song at the intro? and why the hell is on Español??? XD

  • Hey Ruger, you were wearing the Chinese bandolier wrong. it's made to cross on your back not your chest. hope this helps. cheers

  • I am having serious thoughts of getting this weapon. I am a beginner and just got my license (Possession and Aquisition License or PAL) Would this be a good weapon for someone to start out? The ammunition for this weapon are noticeably cheaper than a .30-06. I have heard problems with this weapon being inaccurate however and concerns about jamming? Please get back soon - And if you suggest any other weapons for a beginner. I am from Canada so AK47 is illegal :( Or else Id get that.

  • @ScopedPewPew - Yes, they're simple and fairly powerful rifles. The accuracy is decent out to about 300 meters, and it's pretty tough to hit anything with any gun with iron sights only past that range. Ammo is cheap, recoil is light, and if your rifle is in good condition it should be very reliable. Overall, better than an AK.

  • @ScopedPewPew Well, from what I hear, you are limited to ten rounds.

As for this rifle being inaccurate and jamming, the latter I can tell you I doubt would happen.

From what I hear, russian firearms like these rarely do so, unless of course you damaged it to such a point. But by that time, I doubt the rifle would even be serviceable. As for the former, I can't really answer that.

  • @ScopedPewPew

I've had both the Chinese and the Yugoslavian model of the SKS both with the stock iron sights and both were extremely accurate out to at least 300 meters never had any targets out farther than that but I'm sure if you are able to see a target out past 300 meters you'd hit it.

As far as jamming issues, I only had 2 and those were caused by faulty magazines.

The 7.62x39mm ammunition is pretty cheap as its available almost everywhere it seems like due to being so popular.

  • does it kick hard or not and great video

  • @teether16 - Recoil is pretty easy on you for any rifle in this caliber.

  • you keep saying "brief" but I don't think you know what that means. you're an odd little man and maybe just a little gay and I'm assuming ultra right christian republican, but the worst part is that you think you're interesting. Just freekin get to the info.

    second guy is ok

  • @gmyers2112 wow whats your problem?

  • 3 minutes plus into the video and you're still yaking about crap. Get to it windbag>

  • @gmyers2112 You realize the point of this video is to "yak" about "crap" regarding the SKS, right? There are plenty of videos of people shooting one if that's what you'd prefer. If you're wondering about something specific than ask a question, don't throw insults around.

  • hi - could you tell me where I could get a bipod like yours? thx - Dan

  • I just bought a yugo SKS and it has a jamming problem (mag feeding) with the original 10 round mag. Granted I know most of these rifles were made in the 40's-50's and the original mag has probably seen better days. . but I just recently purchased a tapco 20 round mag in hopes that it perfoms better. . have yet to recieve it in the mail. Tried to find a new original 10 round with no luck. Any advice on this?

  • Just bought a Russian sks 45 and I love it

  • Hehehe ... instead of "Ijevsk" you can just say "ish-mash" which is the short of the name of the factory, and ijevsk is the city.

  • nice, stock just needs to be sanded and finished though uggggh. maybe the light stock is popular for that manufacturer but daaamn its ugly

  • I am very interested in buying one of these very soon. Can anyone tell me how much these usually run for? Is it possible to find a nice one for under $200?

  • @piff235 No. You can get one with a pitted barrel for $204, or one with a good barrel for $245, from Colorado Gun Sales. Best price you'll find unless a buddy gives you a deal.

  • @piff235 I got mine, chinese arsenal #625 unissued, circa 1965 fo $189. Forged and milled receiever (not stamped) chromed bore and every damn piece on it numbered. It's a thing of beauty. But I live in Canada, so that doesn't help you. does it? I can get 100 more if I wanted. I love this rifle! CAse of 1200 rd for $239. Can't go wrong.

  • love the sks!!!!!!!!

  • My GF says that we play dressup with guns the way girls played with Barbie dolls. I say "nut uhn, do not!"..unfortunately I was watching this video and she pointed at the screen during the cool opening shot of this vid and said 'what the hell do you call that?!?!?!?!"..........I had nothing for her at that point LOL

  • I hate Simonov (SKS) rifles. I use to have one. I rather prefer a Mini 30

  • @FullBloodedHmoob i agree.

  • @FullBloodedHmoob well good for you. you would rather prefer a mini 30, you could say i perfer the mini 30 or id rather have the mini 30, but to say i rather prefer a mini 30 sounds stupid. im sure you'll call me anal. but yeah i am, and apparently your anal about sks's

  • @skizzerbo STUPID FUCK,,,,,,,,hi, and good bye

  • @FullBloodedHmoob ohhh big words, small man

  • @skizzerbo big man, small brains and small dick and no common sense

  • made by zastava the same people that bought you the yugo automobile.

  • do the chinese paratrooper sks's have crome lined barrels?

  • Just thought I'd chime in here,

    Izhevsk Pronounced like Eeez-yef-sk

    Hope that helps :-)

  • lol dog in the background was like oh hell russians!!!!

  • re: Slamfires - Apaprently you can fix this by getting a new firing pin. Look up "Murray" and "sks firing pin" then make your decision.

  • Great work, thank you for the review!

  • this may not be the thing on the top of everyone's mind but its actually pronounced EESH-HEV-SK but these Zvasta models are exelent builds and have a few cool gadgets I'd really love to purchase one of these M59/66's 8D

  • He says that the type 56 is more of a carbine and other than the couple inches shorter and being lighter what is the difference?

  • @McHermsquatch

    *to an assault rifle (SKS)

  • I've been reading these people's comments how the SKS can out shoot an M1 Garand, laughable to say the very least. The 7.62x39mm cartridge is no good past 400m regardless of barrel length or action, it's a heavy round pushed by a small amount of powder. The M1 Garand originally chambered in 30-06 (technically a magnum cartridge) was periodically used as a SASR (special application scoped rifle) in WWII, with plenty of confirmed kills out to an beyond 800m. You're comparing a long rifle (M1) to

  • Is that easy to chage the rear sight of SKS?

Ilike to change to SKS Yugo with rear 2 DOTS ..Coolest SKS I saw at the range

  • What's the better stock on the SKS-45? The hardwood, or the laminated stock? What are the advantages of each? Disadvantages?

  • since you have a grenade launcher on it, does that mean you have the tax stamp for class 3 weapons?

  • Great video and gun but long intro and stupid annoying song

  • dude nice touch with the spanish metal name of the band and song plz and thank you also awsome vid man

  • If the Yugo model is so much better than the China model type 56. Why don't you take a China model type 56 round to the chest with a vest. The Yugo model is only a longer barrel with a kit on it. It's lethality is no different then the the other variants. Case closed or rather closed casket if anyone think the type 56 won't do it's job!

  • im fixin to pick one up in the next week or so... im pretty stoked

  • wtf is up with the wetback beaner music ?

  • sks = slamfire p.o.s.

  • Iraqveteran I am a huge fan and I was wondering how accurate this rifle is and is it good to hunt with?

  • How can I tell which model my SKS is?

  • @MrEhud77 If it was cheap, it was probably Yugoslavian, that and it should have a grenade launcher instead of a muzzle break and grenade launcher sights

  • @PaleHorseWC2 It's definatley chinese (Norico sporting version) I did a little research on it...there is no granade lancher..but the reason it was cheap is that I got it used from a pawn shop

  • @MrEhud77 Thats cool, I always thought that the only cheap ones were the Yugo's, because of the '86 Chinese import ban. My dad picked up his Yugo around 2000 I believe for like $150

  • @PaleHorseWC2 damn that is cheap.. I got mine for around $275 I think its probably a 70s model but I'm not too sure. The firing pin on it gets stuck forward and it fires full auto..Need to get that fixed.

  • is it bad to use steel casing bullets for the sks?

  • @eLO419 No that is what the russians used, and what the sks would normally use

After maybe a 1000 shots you might want to try cleaning out any gummed up lacquer in the chamber

  • Amazing weapon. I have a Norinco Type 56 SKS. I bought it through impact guns about 5 years ago for $250 as my first gun. It had a composite folding stock and a 30 mag on it when I bought it. I switched the 30 round mag for the standard 10 and put a yugo wood stock on it (which doesnt fit as well on a Norinco as you might think) I had to do some grinding to get it on. But now it looks all original and beautiful.

  • Hey, the wood on this Yugo is gorgeous. Do you have any more info on any finishing work that was done to it? Looks like just a blonde stain with no oil?

  • i want one, how much do they run for

  • Izhevsk arsenal is also know as Izmash. They are the manufacturing plant located in the city of Izhevsk. Izmash is short for Izhevsk Mechanical Works. Just a way to say it easier.

  • I have an SKS (the Russian made version). It was manufactured in 1950 and stayed in storage there (in Russia) until I bought it last year. But the one I have has been limited to a 5 round capacity because of Canadian gun laws. It's a very fun Rifle to shoot and the ammunition is very cheap (almost as cheap as .22 ammuntion). It doesn't kick as much as you'd expect either.

  • @jasonsg4111 what, 5 round limet, if you live by montana you should come by, i dont think there is a limet on how many rounds you cna have. like the only gun law is consciled and dont shoot anyone with them.

  • yugo sks's don't even compare to the russian made. i own both.

  • I love my SKS Yugo. Good Shooting!!!

  • this rifle is a very good rifle. it can take a beating and still work.

  • That was some really good shooting man! With skills like that you shoulda made life difficult for the enemy in Iraq!lol

  • i get to shoot one real soon also get to shoot a barret .50 cal and a ar 15 plus more

  • Nice shooting, not bad for the weight of that thing, I love my Yugo, its never given me any problems, and it was one that was brought back over after ww2, long story about that but you can message me if you care to hear it. But I think the Yugo's are some of the best, diffently made to last.

  • Single Stak

  • 7:28

The SKS fires an intermediate cartridge, so it isn't a true battle rifle like the Mosin-Nagant or SVT-40.

  • @hailholyghost so its kinda a semi-auto Ak-47

  • yea my yugo is heavy as hell.. its nice tho.. besides the cosmo line in my stock

  • Thats pretty good shootin ..offhand @100yds.

  • Is the SKS magazine single or double stack?

  • @doomfromheaven double.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Single

  • Correction for you:

The SKS was in produced at the Tula Armory from 1949 until 1955 and the Izhevsk Armory in 1953 and 1954.

I have a numbers matching 1954r SKS with Tula armory markings (blade bayonet inc.).

PM me for pics and proof markings if needed.

NO disrespect to this video or you, just pointing out a discrepancy.

  • @LoadedForBear Well guess that shows the they don't always get the facts right on the internet...can only relay what I read. =]

  • SERBIAN RIFLE!

  • @ThePavles

    Russian

  • @PacificPredator10 Serbian-Russian , its almost the same thing :D

  • what is one of these guns worth i just got a chinese made brand

  • About $250-300 for a Norinco

  • and thats the chinese made brand

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Dam your paying alot here in canada you could buy a Norico off of marstar for 140$

  • @XXRichieXXrichX Where are you located? I'm interested in buying one depending on the condition and price.

  • im in ga i just sold mine for 200 didnt have but 50 bucks in it

  • I would have bought it for that. What part of Georgia?

  • wyacross GA

  • Im in Locust Grove

  • GA ?

  • @XXRichieXXrichXX

    Yes...

  • thats around ATL aint it

  • @Buddysautomart

    Yeah around 30 miles south

  • @Iraqveteran8888 hey, do you mind telling me from your testing what sks is the most accurate? if I were to use a scope?

  • well mansonfollower15 i have a mosin Nagant and its pretty fun to shoot recently i'm actually looking at sks cause i have the money to buy one now so idk mosins are cheaper than shit but good quality ( i would no order on line you probably have some nearby) personally i was going to get a ak century but those are like bottom of the line ak's and yugo sks are not bad at all and $100 cheaper so im goign with the sks

  • should i purchase a sks or a nosin magant?

  • Depends what you want to do with it.

  • i want the most reliable one.the one i plan to use as my survival gun if anything was to go down hill and the collapse of law was to happen.

  • me 2

  • Is that a REAL grenade?! haha sweet.

  • hey everyone im new to the rifle stuff lol and i have a question ive been thinkin about you said the SKS is 7.62x39 well i have a remington 710 30-06 and its 7.62x63 is there any relation to these 2 cartridges? thx for all the help!!

  • They both are designated as a .30 caliber round, but they are totally different cartridges, respectively.

For instance, 9x19mm Parabellum uses a casing which is 19mm long, but the 9mm Makarov uses a .365 diameter bullet and a casing which is 18mm long.

Likewise, the .30-06 uses a standard .308 diameter bullet, while the 7.62x39mm uses a .311 diameter bullet. That kind of adds to the confusion a little for people not in the know.

    7.62x54r- .311-.313" diameter bullet.

    7.61x51mm- .308"

  • @Iraqveteran8888 so the 30-06 is a .308 ? wow this is a little confusing haha

  • im going to try to help you too i hope i dont confuse you more. but 1 the 30-06 is a .308 diameter bullet but a longer casing then the 7.62 nato. 2 even though the 30-06 is designated 7.62 there is no real relation to the 7.62x39 other than they are both .30 caliber

hope i helped, i am willing to answer other ?s for ya too

  • @96RebelJeepZJ

Unless I didn't make it clear, the 7.62x39mm is considered a medium range, intermediate cartridge, compared to the .30-06, which is easily capable of 800-1000 yard shots.

  • thanks for the reply. in terms of price what are we looking at for the g43. because the sks is dirt freaking cheap but i really have no idea how to find a gewher.

  • @coozy100

The prices of G43s are all over the place. There are a few variants of the rifle floating around, with some models bringing more money. Then you have the factor of unit markings, factory code, year of manufacturer, etc.

In general, I have never seen one sell below $400, with many examples bringing around $600-750 on average. Pristine examples can fetch $1000-$1500 easily, especially with original optics.

Gun shows are a good place to look. Proceed with caution...

  • whats the difference between the sks and the g43 german made rifle. i understand theres different makes but is there anything different things about them because they look almost similar

  • @coozy100

The G43 and SKS are both self loading semi automatic rifles, but in different calibers. The G43 fires an 8mm Mauser which is a full sized cartridge, while the 7.62x39mm fired by the SKS is more of an intermediate range cartridge.

All in all, in terms of overall handling and operation they are similar, but with different design characteristics, respectively.

I can't remember if the G43 is piston driven or not. The SKS is...

  • nice german shepherd in the backround, i have a big shepherd too, his name is The Moose, he runs a buck ten

  • Ok sure thing buddy O pal

  • Why do you care if those are real grenades? All the power to him if he is that prepared. Granted its illegial IF they are real but who truley cares unless he is some wacko nut job going Postal.

  • hey whats the most accurite sks I need to know the gun show is in two days please help me out

  • They all are about the same but in terms of decent triggers, better stocks, and overall better condition have a look at the Yugos.

  • I got a Yugo, rather than a new dining room table. My husband got a big kiss for that one! Love my SKS!

  • Thats funny....Can't say that my girlfriend would want to same thing although we enjoy shooting fairly regular.

The SKS is a fine little rifle....enjoy it.

  • Is there a good place to find Yugoslavian SKS rifles in the gulf coast of Mississippi? I could find a place on my own, but it would be a pain in the ass.

  • It's actualy NOT a Yugo if it's not made before 1991...

  • I must say I like the pronouncement discussion I have birthed on this video with other people not even directly involved lol. It's nice to see other enlightened people interested in firearms still exhist! Sorry for the trouble lol.

  • "Izhevsk" - pronounce it like this: "ee-shevsk". (Put the emphasis on the second syllable , i think)

Now just replace the "s" with a "z" for that characteristic Roosky sound, and you won't be far off ;)

  • I have 2 SKS's.A Chinese[Norinco] and a Russian[1952].The Chinese SKS is more accurate but the russian seems a little better in fit and finish. They are both robust, well designed rifles.Siminov knew his stuff and brought us a beautifully engineered firearm, much better than it's cheap price would suggest.

  • and also if you add a mount for a scope it is pretty accurate upto 250 yards.

  • i love my sks,i have a china made model but it is not norinco.but i never had a jam and i did a test run of a thousand rounds with out cleaing.weapon ran flawless no hickups.

  • Question do these guns jam alot or are they reliable because i was thinking about buying a yugo sks or a p95-rugger 9mm but im having second thoughts about the sks because i heard they jam alot and are not a reliable gun but they do look fun please respond thanks.

  • I am not an "expert" on either one but a Yugo SKS is such a sweet rifle provided you find a good one. Rugers are sweet too but once you get a Yugo and shoot it you will fall in love.

  • Thank you for you sacrifice Iraqveteran8888, I own two sks's, one for each hand. haha I know they will serve me well when called apon just as you and our military have. Soon it will be in the hands of the people, untill then we need to be prepared.

  • Great video - but let's all start pronouncing carbine ''car-BYNE'' and not ''car-BEAN.'' It simply kills my soul. I realize it's the popular way of pronouncing it but I have had the honor of talking to a handful of WW2/Vietnam vets who agree with me.... thank god... that is all. Happy shooting!!

  • There are lots of things that people have taking an inkling to saying incorrectly.

Just like Mosin Nagant. I say it like a redneck and I don't care, but it doesn't mean I don't know that the propersay to say it is: MA-SIN NAY-GAN. It doesn't even have a T on it...lol

CAR-BEAN is just one of those types of words that IMO sounds better than CAR-BINE. IMO saying CAR-BINE just sounds snooty to my ear. Would you walk up to Carbine Williams and say "Hello Mr. CAR-BINE"

    Youre point is taken

  • I understand. Where you prefer "car-bean" as to stay with a consistency and not sound snooty, I prefer "car-bine" - not to sound snooty or smarter but it's not so rednecky. I strive to educate ignorant people who find guns to be only for republican idiots and inbred scum and show them the error of their beliefs. I respect your point of view fully and your videos help my objective tremendously. Also, who's Carbine Williams?

  • He invented the M1 Carbine.

  • According to the dictionary "carbine" is phonetically pronounced car BEAN. Just so you know.

  • Well... I DON'T have to like it...

  • This is true, you don't. But out of curiosity...why? Why does one sound better than the other to you? I myslef am satisfied on pronouncing it correctly.

Do you put gasoLYNE in your vehicle or gasoLEAN? lol.

    Happy shooting regardless!

  • yeah but but line and brine are both pronounced as the YNE as you put it. The way i see it its the same as tomAYto and tomAHto

  • Good point... but now that you mention it I'm going to start putting gasoLYNE into my tank just to stay with a theme! I can't say why it bothers me so much. I guess whenever I hear it said it brings pictures of trailer parks, cheap beer and cheetos to mind.... but you make a good point, regardless. Happy shooting to you!!

  • It is made by Zastava,Serbia. You can find it by name - pap 7.62 .

  • The "former Yugoslavian country" that Rugersix was thinking of is Serbia. Specifically Zastava arms which is located in the city of Belgrade I believe.

  • Thanks for the clarification.

  • do these run good with wolf ammo?

  • They cycle just fine.

  • i paid 150 for my norico sks. it came with a no name folding stock, and two 40 round bannana clips works flawlessly the thing was a gangsters gun and it still had cosmeline in it with the stock and everything rifleing if perfect and no visible wear or wear of the blueing anywehre

  • Yikes, you guys are getting ripped off. I can buy an Russian milsurp SKS + 1 case of 7.62X39mm (1120 rounds) for $350CAD

  • You are in Canada....

It evens out though. You guys get better deals on certain guns, but then there are guns here that are a dime a dozen....

How much do you pay for an Enfield?

  • Yes, very true. Most other guns cost much less in the US. that and out stupid magazine cap restrictions.

  • Yeah the magazine restrictions are bogus no matter how you cut it.

I wish we could be more like the Swiss.

  • last time i saw an enfield for sale 125 it was in dencen shape, butstock a little pitted but it was nice, however we have to deal with the 5 round magazine cap for semi autos, and ak47 are illegal and handguns with barrels shorter then 4 inches are a no dice

  • Thats complete bullshit...The governments of the world really are pansies!
