Bought this grinder recently (3/2011). Looks like the machining on the trunnions has improved considerably - they were square to the table. Mounting disks removed without much effort.
However, your information on how to remove the armature and true it up on the lathe is invaluable. I did it and it runs smoothly. Thanks!
@dickda1 Great! Maybe they fixed a defect in manufacturing so the trunnions will be better now for others like yours were for you. Mine were absolutely horrible and needed correction. Good to know the videos helped and truing up on the lathe worked out for you as well. Thanks for the post G.
Thank You for the review., and the tip's. With a bit of work you have made a nice machine.
At HF you can get some good equipment for a small price, As good as the big brands ? No, But if you are on a budget and are willing to do a bit of work to fix a few issues then HF is a good deal.
@EarlRausch Agreed! I have tons of top brand tools, but use HF to save money where I think the quality "can" be there. I consider some of their items to be kits (This grinder is one of them), and with a little work they seem to work well! Not to mention you get intimate with the tool and know exactly how it works. Thanks for the post!
