不足為奇，因為越南話從漢語借入了不少詞語，如片中之「政策」、­「執行」、「入境」、「問題」、「非法」、「監禁」等等。再者，­今越南話保留了不少中古漢語的語音特點，如入聲（-p,-t,-­k）、合口韻尾（-m）等等，而且聲調豐富。粵語亦有類似的等點­，所以這兩種話有些近似。

Everytime you see a Vietnamese person greet them by saying "bat dau tu nay". Look I can even speak Vietnamese: phuc dat gai viet nam ho dum phuc nguyen. It was so easy to learn. Much quicker than Vietnamese people when they learn Chinese. Vietnamese people can only say ching chang and chong in Chinese. lol
