&&& Such a Delightful perform ...the Best Version on You Tube ,Grateful to this Magnificent post ! Brilliance shining there ....for sorrow Horowitz never play this awesome opus on stage .....is my favorite
this is really good! the color changes are all there and melody and harmony or the arpeggios all seem very balanced and well thought out. Completely in control. Very nice, indeed.
for once i agree with all "the best../the most.."-comments, because this is truly a damned top execution compared to all those great pianists quoted above. Maybe Argerich at the live competition deserves the 2nd rank (but 'live' performed)!
I must say that this performance is astoundingly beautiful and technically flawless. coup de chapeau, Monsieur Andre............... I also love Garrick Ohlsson's on here
Yes, this is one great pianist. He's playing so fast that the bass notes are coming through as a melody. I have heard at least five other great pianists play this. I admire all of them. If I could play like any of them, I would be ecstatic. Ha! ha!
While I do not doubt the musical quality of this interpretation, his handling of the section from 1:33 to approximately 1:41 is the best one I have ever heard.
'd just point out that my humble thought is spotted on this specific piece.I'm not saying he can achieve such a heavenly result when dealing with all of Chopin's works or with further composers.
On this form, one of the Gods of the keyboard. The closest I have ever come to flying outside of an aircraft was hearing Andrei accelerating into the difficulties of the closing pages of the Scriabin Third Sonata at the Royal Festival Hall.
The audience were clutching their armrests as if they might crash. I overheard a woman behind me, shaking her head in disbelief, say "You have to be insane to play the piano like that!"
@smudgepots You could have told the woman behind you that "a person has to be talented and greatly practiced to play like that." But that's just my perspective!

More poetically played than Pollini's rendering, faster than Richter's and way more expressive than Ashkenazy's, the best version of this etude I ever heard.

Very good rendition of this grand Etude. Technically flowing and very expressive . To be placed alongside Argerich and Pollini.

This is a powerful pianist, whose live playing is quite something.

A kind of magic : superb technique mates
with delicate touch and expression.
Poetry and virtuosistic skill:fewest soloists
can afford such a perfect blend.

La piu' bella edizione esistente di questo studio. Stupefacente.
Tecnica infinita e poesia intatta.

to Technoboy - He's great indeed.
There several keyboard runners which can play even faster but that's absolutely meaningless: musicality seems sth. unknown to them.
