Do I have to have a computer running lion to make the USB drive? Or can I use one with Leopard? And also will this run on a 1.86 Ghz Intel Celeron processor (single core)?
hey!! thank you for this video, i have one question,is the ahcpi modus for this installation way needed?my hp pavilion g7 haven`t this ahcpi modus.....
@theharlinator ROFL. I never seen someone as dumb as you. You were giving a solution and still whining that there is a problem. No one is forcing you to like anything.
Hey all, I made the USB disk, but when booting on one PC I get the message like dave1997 with the -v option but even that doesn't do anything. I copied the mach_kernal file... On an other pc i get the message to insert the boot media in selected boot device or reboot and select proper boot device. Maybe a stupid questid, but does the lion dvd has to be in the pc?
Hi,I've successfully installed Lion 3 weeks ago but today after a power failure my system won't boot anymore, it gets stuck at a line saying something like UUID error , strange thing is it would boot from SATA 3 port but not SATA 6, another thing is in the bios setup in Boot Device Priority, My HDD: WDC WD1002F has changed to IDE: WDC WD1002F when i'm using SATA 6!
I'm using AHCI in storage configuration but have no clue why it says IDE!
I have a strange problem, i followed ur tutorial but when i pop in the drive and try to access the installer usb on boot screen, the screen flashes and i am back to the same screen. I hit enter numerous times but the screen flashes and then is back on the same screen. I tried to run it with -v -x -f, same results. i have a VAIO EB series core i3 350m, hm55, ati 5650m. Any ideas?
got lion working on separate partition, running like a dream, finally got graphics card working! but i have a quick question.. may seem odd but is it possible for panther hackintosh? just dished out an old laptop with only 1gb ram , OLD dual core processor..? or even tiger?
@daye1997 PcEfi from netkas has correctly specified where the kernel is if you install Lion, because the install kernel is not on the default location, chameleon can't find the kernel on the default location, so copy from the install_esd the mach_kernel to the root of your installation device (kernel is hidden, so turn hidden files on)
Hello, Thanks for the reply. I figured it out and did put that mach_kernel on the root. I was able to finish the lion installation, however, failed to reboot after the installation. Had to manually reboot, then, the Bios got reset. still could not boot to the Lion partition. Even tried to ElliottForceLegacyRTC.kext. no luck. Any suggestions. Thanks.
Ok I followed this video exactly and it didnt work. When it came to booting up the thing just flickered with some error which I couldnt read. Nothing ever loaded!
it says "mac os x cannot be installed on this computer please restart and try again" i have followed the video to the letter but it still gives me this any ideas
NVM my last comment. But the problem is that when i boot the usb i press enter on the 'installer' drive and it flashes a really fast error message and won't do anything except that, it won't even boot the other drives (which boot just fine normally)
Hi, i did everything on the Video. i had to delet -usecache from appleboot.plist Cuz i have quadcore CPU. Now the bootloader loads the kexts but i got a Kernel Panic with appleintelcpupowermanagement, Even with nullcpu kext. How can i fix this please help
hmm, no tutorials i've seen have done this, i'm happy using a proper GUID Mac OSX Extended partition scheme :) Just not seen this error appearing on any tutorials.
Anything you can think, or have read would be appreciated. Managed to with ease on my hardware for OSX 10.6.x
lo bud, SO close to getting this to work, Didn't follow your guide as it wasn't about when I started (Everything is pretty identical), apart from a FakeSMC being on the installer USB stick.
I nailed OSX 10.6.x on the rig i'm trying to do 10.7 on, I've got a working USB stick installer... I can boot from the actual USB stick, it loads drivers, gets to a GUI state without any kernel panic'ing, but when i click forward to select language, it says "Cannot be installed on this computer", any ideas?

Hi Thanks for the video. I made the USB disk. When I boot it to my DELL Latitude D630, I got the prompt:
hd(0,2) Installer.
Press Enter to start up Darwin/x86 with no options or You can type -V ........
I tired both. Nothing happened. What seems to be the problem ?
Thanks for you help.

@Kludgedean You can patch the OSinstall.mpkg, but that's not the most easy fixes there are ;)
I can maybe do a tutorial in the future.

@Kludgedean You also have an smbios with a Apple Mac Model in it that is capable for running Lion?
Or try mine from the download.
osx86tutorials 10 months ago
@Kludgedean Change the OSInstall.mpkg file in your USB Installer in /System/Installation/Package for this one: megaupload(dot)com/?d=V1IIS2AD
And try again.

@Kludgedean Change your OSInstall.mpkg of your USB Installer for another one, search in the web for that file
