I would also like to note that a vast majority of the violence in both Iraq and Afghanistan arouse from sectarian violence that we had little to do with. Quite frankly you're a misguided idiot.

The only thing that has caused it to spike during our occupation was that we took out the tyrannical dictatorship that was holding it back in the case of Iraq and the Taliban that kept it in check in Afghanistan. Granted we didn't take into account what we were getting into and we didn't always make good choices, but it is foolish to make such general and ridiculous accusations.

I assume you are talking about the thing they fired at? It was probably a training excercise seeing as they were just standing in the open with a tow missle on a tripod and the guy casually filming the event with a camcorder. Which means the thing they fired at was probably empty.

@songoku2300 - I disagree. The troops over there aren't the bad guys. They're trying to get home to their families and go out of their way to avoid collateral damage and unnecessary casualties which is far more than I can say for the insurgents. At the same time I agree with you that not everyone from that region is a terrorist which is a common misconception in American and leads to quite a bit of unfounded bias towards them.

@yomama629 - It is the responsibility of both sides to minimize civilian casualties. At the same time, when we would move into a town usually the civilians would move out into the mountains so the civilian death toll was rather low all things considered and often times came from poorly executed IED attacks.

@cashbradley - Although in some regards I would rather take on a TOW missile than an IED. At least you can see a TOW missile launcher and take the guy out before he can take you out in some instances.

I fired two live rounds back in 1984 and 1985. This weapon was very effective when hitting the assigned target. It was something that I would never forget. I fired those rounds at the Yakima desert training facility in Washington state.

There aren't really that many different varients of the tow but some can be mounted differently. This one here is the ground mount. There are different types of missles for different uses. If you google "types of T.O.W. missles" you should find a list of the different kinds.

It could be fired from a tripod, an armored personal carrier, the jeep or hummer, from a tank or helocopter.

@captaindouchemonkey - I'm not entirely sure. I went to a school for it but as with everything in the army they made the name far more complicated than it had to be. I know it was the newest variation and all the older versions from the 80's have been phased out.
