  • dannggg...the split looked like it hurted :O

  • Twang!!!

  • @Durkie52 We are talking about a Chinese weapon here so I assumed you were using the Chinese definition. You are right about the American definition. However, as you have explained that people use karate for any marital arts (usually oriental), it is just wrong... I prefer the Chinese definition.

  • @Durkie52 The dao of sword and the dao (as in dao de jing) are two different characters, two different tones, hence two different words. It's not a dialect issue.

  • Comment removed

  • @Durkie52 A "Dao" is definitely not a sword. Why? because "Dao" is the direct translation of "knife" into Chinese. (kitchen and dining knives are also called dao) In Chinese, Dao is a bladed weapon with one edge and a sword has two.

  • @RaptureandZune Plese read my post

  • It's official, home movies in other countries are more interesting.

  • and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the Chinese used to slice bread in the Ching Dynasty...looking back to the Ming,,,,,

  • @ML1995 Looking back in to the Ming they used Tai Chi to make noodles and steam buns.

  • LOLOLOL that's a saber, not a sword XD

  • @Haruka247 that's a dao. sort of a sabre.

  • Great balance and poise for a little kid.

  • and jet li is great...................

  • Comment removed

  • he's bloody dancing

  • The reason for the "flashiness" guys is clear if you've ever swung one of the non-sport kinds (some are very heavy, esp. for a one-hand). It looks only flashy, but it's to keep momentum going, this is a lopper, and although it does lots of damage, having it halt midway from a block can sometimes drain the energy out of ya, so the philosophy is, keep the opponent guessing, build momentum (and because of the curved blows, it allows you to keep some momentum even if blocked), and strike hard >:)

  • ownage.

  • Dao shu

  • loker344 yes you are right, thats probably why murders may be more frequent now

  • He is the real Jet Li who everyones know???

  • @Mutsusho When he was young he had an amazing wushu skill. He was 12 years old and beated adults in wushu competitions. He may be an actor, but he could easily kick your ass :P

  • HD FOR THE WIN.

  • the chinese sword technique is more some dancing instead of fighting, somehow looks so...

  • Reminds me of a time when I used to do sword dances with twin swords.

    That aside:

The mere act of pulling a trigger or swinging around a piece of steel requires neither skill nor intelligence. Killing requires no skill, that's why there's so much of it with both knives (women sized swords) and guns (more than 95% of firearm offenses are committed with illegally accquired firearms).

@Zarafraze You obviously don't know what a sword is.

All comments below this one are stupid.

  • @Locker344

Clearly, you haven't tried any long range target practice with a handgun. It requires an incredible amount of self control, concentration, and skill.

  • @drumslikeagod it takes no skill... aim and shoot.... only a sniper needs skill...

  • @drumslikeagod not really man, it takes a steady hand, and that is all...

  • That´s not a sword it´s a saber

  • I'm a little skeptical as to whether that's actually Jet Li, but the kid rocks!

  • @EvilDarkJackel nice grammar: wholes and buy are in the wrong context, they should be holes and by

  • and they wont let american kids run with scissors

  • Ostie! Du balai armé XD jk

  • @defileucan Peu importe que tu trouve ça viril ou pas, il te réduirait en charpie...

  • that looks just like yun seung's exposition theater kata from soul calibur 2

  • woooahh is this jet li? the real kid jet li?

  • Wu Shu is like Ballet that can kill you .

  • @BAEism wushu is like fighting that can kill YOU, "BAEism"

    dumbass

    wu = martial

    shu = art

no other kind of chinese kung fu....

kung fu is only chinese and chinese only

cept for maybe wing chun, but doesnt stand a chance up against any version of martial art, china, jap, etc. meaning taek., karate

  • @AsianBlazenTV when people use the term wushu usually nowadays, they refer to the contemporary wushu sport. (jet li is a practicionner) that was put together by the chinese govt in the 50's in an attempt to nationalize the martial arts in china.. It is true that by definition wu shu means martial (military) discipline (art) but still..

  • @AsianBlazenTV and wing chun originates from china by the way.

  • Ta Daaaa!!

  • take the baton from an inner city girls hand and give her a sword in its place and she would own this little kid.

  • Comment removed

  • i am much better

  • i dare you to take his Candy away. lmfaoo see what happens.

  • not martial art

  • in south america and in africa, tribes generally carry machetes. gun ammo is hard to come by. blades are still being used in tribal warfare.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox thats the common of of executing someone...theres nothing wrong with swords. If you hate swords then dont bother watching movies or youtube clips that have swords in them

  • if that was the case lol then only japan and china would have the upper hand lmao kidding of course but they probly would

  • HOLEEE SHITTT

  • Very impressive! Is he really Jet Li?

  • Amacing!! the little shaolin fighter!

  • dam he is like a ninja

  • its an art..should be preserve..

  • If anything bows and arrows, or boomerangs, and other killing weapons will come to be the main signs of death.

  • It's a good and bad thing that swords are now not used in warfare, bad cos there are now faster ways of killing someone and in larger amounts. And good cos straight shots aren't as messy and painful as cutting someone into pieces with a sword.

  • Xxvalevirexx@ that's so funny

I'm sure people would still get killed, man makes the weapon, man uses the weapon.

Ithink ninja assasin says fear not the weapon.

Anyway I'll b keepin my Dessy!

  • i say that we should ban the use of guns and revert to allowing everyone to have a sword.

crime rate would go wayyyy down. rob my bank with katana?! HAIYA!!!!!!!!!

  • of course nobody uses swords for killing anymore. they are just decoration and sport mainly now lol. some armies still use katanas and sabres but it is sad that swords have been pushed aside for guns which dont require near as much skill

  • @Locker344 saying that swords have been pushed aside is going abit far. almost all countries have bayonets that when fitted are used is the same way as a spear, machetes are still carried not only for cutting but they make a perfect jungle weapon.. in the times of the sword long range was dominated by the bow and arrow the short by the sword and spear today its artillery and guns and bayonets. war dosent change.. it adapts

  • But a bayonet is still not like a sword. Like a spear, it requires little skill at all. In fact a spear requires a lot of skill compared to a bayonet.

  • Guns do take alot of skill though, It's not as simple as aiming and pulling a trigger. I do know what you mean though and hell sometimes I iwsh we still used swords instead of guns.

  • @Locker344 It's not about skill, it's about efficiency.

  • @Locker344 maybe one day all the gun will be destroyed and matrail artists will take over the world XD

i hope its gonna be soon XD hahah

  • True. I think it's an awful shame that military swords have been degraded to merely ceremonial weapons, 'cause even the armies that still use these only have them for show : (

  • @Locker344 depends how you're lookin at it. clear a room on hispeed each shot taking a target down that requires just as meny repetitions as learning how to use a sabre or a sword

  • @mazilin2 And dodging a bullet is way harder than dodging a sword lol

  • @Locker344 I agree

  • @Locker344 except for immortals, vampires and the casual dueling guy

  • @2White2Cloud2 lol yeah you're right about that, their swords can probably shoot deadly rainbows and whatnot

  • @Locker344 So true.. to fight with a sword brought honor to the battle. The skill of one was what kept you alive or lack there of killed you. To watch a true master at work is one of the most amazing things to wittness..

  • @tscotty32 I wish we did battle with swords and other ancient weapons like bow and arrow, or spear. There is no honor in taking a man's life with a mere squeeze of a trigger. It is sad that decades of skill and practise can be erased with a gun.

  • @huoyuanjia1963 I agree 110%. To study and train like these warriors did, to become one with the weapon and way of life is really beautiful. Jet Li is an amazing artist/fighter... i would love to sit down and have a good long talk with him. I know i could learn much from him.

  • @Locker344 seriously? You know how fucking retarded your statement was? How about you think about the middle east and all the horror report stories of American's being held hostage and having their heads cut-off with swords?

  • @NineTailsDemonFox Hey dumbass he was just saying that people in general don't carry around swords anymore. Do you carry around a katana when your going to the fucking grocery store? So instead of calling other people retarded, why don't you get your ass off of watching fucking naruto and try to learn how to interpret what people are fucking saying.

    peace and love, cunt-face.

  • @NineTailsDemonFox do you realize how stupid your comment is.. how many people do you think are dying in the middle east from guns and explosives

  • @Locker344 I just wish we could go backwards in times sometimes ha.

  • @Locker344 Well, the debate sword vs guns skill might go on, but as much as I love sword, I've gotta give respect to modern soldiers... It requires diffrent skills than swordfighting- in sniping, you have to calculate the bullet path, which isn't easy under pressure.

  • @Locker344

Which armies still use katanas and sabres?

  • @Locker344 well it gets the job done and that's all weapons in war are required to do

  • @Locker344 Just wait.

  • @Locker344 indeed it is sad that why i want a time machine to stop europes advance into others culture take out the whole fucking part of the world save asia from beaing changed so much

  • @Locker344 yeah i totaly agree but that wuz don because whn moderation came people became kinda more stupid and it would take alot more time to master the cold weapons thats why they inventd guns they dont ned almost any skill and everybody could join the army. Cuz when thre is a lack of Soldiers just give a bullet proof vest and a gun to a citizen and thre u go a Soldier..........i wish the army still used swords its definatly more awesome than some stupid gun. i want th freaking things back!

  • @Locker344 "NEAR as much skill"? There is NO skill in operating a gun (called a firearm to make it sound sophisticated by the northern meat-heads.) All you do is pull the trigger and MAYBE add more ammo. The beauty and grace (NOT TO MENTION HONOR) in sword combat is impeccable. No thing on this planet will ever re-create such finesse.

  • @IDOG321 LOL. YOU LIVE IN FANTASY.

  • @IDOG321 Easily the more retarded of the comments!

  • @IDOG321 By the way firearm is the original term simplified to "gun" for neanderthal types like yourself, also colloquially used to mean hand"gun". Now you have a good day sir.

  • @IDOG321 As a practitioner of both martial arts and firearms, you sir, are very wrong. There is a great deal of skill in operating a good with accuracy and precision. The same applies with martial arts. Anyone can throw a punch. Being good at it as where the "skill" comes into play.

  • @IDOG321 everything you do and how well you do it depends on skill even "operating" a gun. there is beauty and grace in everything.

  • @Locker344 I beg to differ. Anyone can hack and slash as well as anyone can pray and spray. To be spot on with what you're aiming at and actually hitting it without getting hit yourself requires a lot of skill for either weapon.

  • @TheQuinian Easily the more intelligent of the comments here!

  • @Locker344 the last time I know that people used swords to kill each other with, was the 1970's Chicago Dojo Wars

  • @Locker344 I think thats the purpose of whoever invented the guns... kill more people with less efforts

still, its nothing compared with the beaty of a fine crafted sword in the hands of a skilled warrior

  • @Locker344 i couldnt agree more.

  • @Locker344 it's sad that countries fight each other in the first place.

  • @Locker344 but no one wants to be cut apart or lose a iimb from a sword.

  • @filipinoninja8 true, i'm sure a gunshot feels much better lol

  • @filipinoninja8 I dont think anyone want their face blasted off by a gun either.. ha ha..

  • @Locker344 I disagree with the skill part :S

  • @Locker344 I know how u feel man

when guns were born cowardice and lack of honor came after

  • @Locker344 If you actually look at military history, the gun replaced the spear, which also took little to no skill to use effectively. Of course, some cultures (Greeks and Chinese) developed highly skilled spear techniques, but that is not too different than modern armies developing specialized fighters such as snipers, Navy SEALS, Spetnatz, etc. Warfare hasn't changed really at all from the standpoint of the skill involved in wielding a weapon.

  • @DistendedPerinium

But it also doesn't change one thing:

    War fucking sucks.

  • @Locker344 bayonette

  • @Locker344 rubbish all weapons require skill and practice and discipline

  • @Locker344 I don't think it's sad. Because of the gun we're no longer ruled over by a military elite class that has access to training facilities.

  • no swords are made for killing? What about a broadsword? Katana? Longsword? I would say about 80% to 90% of all swords where origionally intended to be used in battle. Only some of the shorter blades, like machetes, where never intended for combat.

  • @Aspenly thats what im trying to say dancing sword work doesnt work

  • ahh.. I see what you meant now. Your lack of punctuation makes it easy to misinterperate your meaning.

  • @Aspenly yeah its cool im a 11 year stick fighting vet give my vids a look

  • alot of the dance stuff just doesnt work in combat trust me...

  • Really...

  • this is a routine, but the movement isn't useless. the say the fast movement is to distract the opponent, and it works trust me, ur gonna get a blade in ur face without seeing it coming

  • this is about skill, not about killing someone.

  • wow. i realy admire chinese martial arts. even their sword handling. . best of all they are atletc.. jet lee sure is awesome.. .. but i wonder if stphen chao know this xD ohh jackie chann to.. i wonder if they were class mates xD

  • Funny thing is, I bet he still had to deal with the no running with scissors rule.

  • that's indeed a "play" \

  • Oh my god, I cant believe some of you are wondering what this is all about. Its one of many forms in kung fu, done with a training sabre. Have you never seen he shaolin monks in action? "I guess Yun-Sungs demonstration was in honor of Jet-Li"... I hope you are joking. Soul Calibur game?... urg.

  • Reminds me of rhythmic gymnastics, but with a sword

  • yeah, jet was national champ in whu shu through his teens. But he didnt compete after that, as he went into films. Some people compete through their 20s or past 30s maybe. so his time in pro whushu was short. so is he overated. maybe. but he was the champ 5 times

  • heh, even when he was a cute little kid, he still could've kicked my ass a thousand time before I had a chance to blink! Jet is awesome!

  • gotcha... running with scissors :P

  • i don't particularly know what the skipping and kicks are for..... but the rest is ok

  • The kicks and skips are an integral part of the form. It allows for free, circular movement, as opposed to the back and forth movements of fencing for example. It is also an expression of the practitioner, almost like a dance.

  • If you notice, he is not actually practicing. He is applying the techniques in form. And he is also a young kid

  • Hm this is not a sword, it's a sabre. 'Dao Shu'

  • Yes, It is Dao in Chinese, not Jian, but it still falls in Sword category in English.

  • It's a 'wushu' dao...which means it's not a real sword/weapon, but one of those flimsy props used for acrobatics martial arts.

  • If it hit you, it would still cut you... I've had a mate who almost took his finger off with one through underestimating it...

  • true. even the dullest sword can still do some damage though

  • It is a dao it is a backsword, key word in that is SWORD.

  • theres also a long handled version called the guan dao it's a type of polearm

  • cant stand bck up from a split

    u kno, this is basics

  • just awesome

  • Hm I really wish that my parents could have put me into something a little more thrilling than band. I've been getting into sword lately and this is really intriguing. Awesome form especially for a young age.

  • when he split...l couldnt help saying the 'f - word'!!!!!

then he got up - and l shut up....

    wow!

  • A prodigy. He's very flexible and does everything the better.

  • To Xaltus: As I see your DECENT SPEAK, I suppose, you are from US.

  • Holy shit!!

    He did a split??

    And got back up..

    That's fuckin sick!!

    X

  • There is such this as martial talent, and Jet Li really has it. Some people who get into MMA don't understand this, but there are people who are naturally attuned to this sort of stuff. To have this level of technical precision at such a young age puts him well ahead of the average person.

  • Oh shit! I was thinking this looked familiar then it hit me. In one of the Soul Calibur games, a character named Yun-Sung has a weapon demonstration. The demonstration is copied by this video from the beginning to the part where little jet does the splits. I guess Yun-Sungs demonstration was in honor of Jet-Li

  • thats cool

think about it he is freakin rich now because of that hahahahaha

  • his btwist is really nice even compared to ppl today!

  • Lil wong fei hung

  • Jet Li was a child prodigy, i think anyway.

He was amazing then and now 30 years later he's still amazing.

  • Jet Li is a legend, i have to admit i was a bit dubious about whether this would be him, but there is no denying it, and damn can he move at that age, unreal. It looks like a well choreographed dance routine..... but with a sword.lol

  • em... u probably dunno much about kung fu... if u think it can be choreographed like a dance... u can try but it will never work even u watch 10,000 times cos its all about steady n focus... n much more to learn!!

  • I dont claim to know anything more about kung fu, than the next guy whose only experience of it is watching it on dvd's, however, Jet Li, and many others have made a very lucrative career out of choreographed kung fu routines. And i meant it as a complement regarding how free flowing and purposeful each movement was, rather than saying it would be as easy to learn as a dance routine, cos i am in no doubt, easy....... it aint

  • Holy hell

  • hoLi shit! lol

  • :O awesome. The dao is a light sword to an adult but to a kid like he was in this video stills heavy to handle like that. He was a great marcial artist from a very early age

  • o.o

  • Three Letters OPP lol JK OMG

  • holy moly
