First off I did not vote for Obama and am a conservative. The only reason why I think the repeal would be a good thing is because there are NO term limits on congress...many congressman are much more powerful than the President (any President of either party). When you've held office for 20, 30, 40 years, these guys tend to consolidate power...so that is the only reason why I wouldn't mind the repeal..although it would be better for congress to have term limits, but that will never happen.

How dumb are is haostrom, the poster of this video? She entitles her video, "Congress repealing the 22nd Amendment" and then speaks as if this bill was passed into law last week.

Just because a bill is introduced by a Congressman, does not make it a law. It must be passed by the House and the Senate, But this is not an ordinary bill, it is a Constitutional Amendment and then must be ratified by 3/4rds of the States. This Amendment has as much chance of passing as my cat being elected president.

The 17th Amendment calls for direct election of the Senators rather than appointment by the state legislatures. The design of our government was to have checks and balances. When they passed the 17th amendment, they took away, the voice and the power the states to control the federal government.

the reason this amendment came to be in the first place was FDR. it became apparent that he could have run (and won) forever. imagine the sheer inertia that would operate once a president had won 3 or 4 terms. we would indeed have an emperor. a king. a dictator for sure. i cannot imagine the rationale for sponsoring a bill like this. well actually i CAN, but i cant imagine any responsible reason. its also odd that this bill would come to light during the reign of savior obama.
