I'm finding it very hard to find a mouse i really enjoy. i want something comfy and quick for FPS but with at least a few extra macro buttons (i hate having to move my hand from WASD for anything). Currently I'm using a logit g700, which has some very handy buttons down the left hand side, but i am really aching for something a little more gamer-y with a better feel and preferably a sniper button. am currently having trouble choosing between the rat 5 or the corsair m60 or m90.

@welshmouse The RAT series are the only mice I know of which have the precision aim feature. You could have a look at the Cyborg MMO 7. It's basically a RAT 7 with more buttons.

please help meh! I'm not sure quite what you know about the R.A.T 3, but I just got one (the 5 was a bit TOO pricey) but there was no software disk or anything with it. I was told to get the latest drivers and software, however after I downloaded the ST Profile Editor it just said "No Controllers Found"

It clearly says "2 programmable buttons" but if there is no software to programme them with... what do I do :O

Where is the software downloadable from? Please help!

i have had my rat 5 for a year, and it has lasted brilliantly. however the thumb scroll broke before 6months but its no problem as it is kind of a pointless button for gaming. it is a very comfortable mouse, I'd recommended it

Rat 5 is amazing i got one :D i recommend it if you want a good gaming mouse, if you got extra to spend buy the ray 7. rat 9 is quite bad, looked at a few reviews.

I got the R.A.T 5 and really like it , however when I try to install the software to customize it keeps saying no controller detected? same while trying to update drivers says "plug in controller you want to update" and when I do does nothing :S any tips?

i have this mouse and its great ....until today when i got an almighty jolt i got a decent shock from it for some reason....it went off but came back on about 15 mins later scared the bejeeezus outta me lol. but alls fine now and it seems to have stopped wanting to kill me.

looks great, but im worried that i would accidently press the precission aim mode al the time, i seem to grip the mouse quite tightly and the button looks like where my thumb would rest, is it very sensitive?

@EuanHall123 It takes a bit more force to press than the left/right click. You can always just disable it, but I think my thumb didn't rest on it so even if I did grip hard I wouldn't have accidentally pressed it.

it isn't easy to press the PRaim button you will know when you do it sticks out and is s solid button

@C00lman555 If you want to rotate the thumb rest, a pinky rest, and a couple of alternative backplates then get the RAT 7. Personally I found the RAT 5 comfortable enough so it was the better choice for me.

I have a faulty mouse now... The damn thing drifts for no reason. No movement but the thing is just moving across the screen on its own. Also, the precision aiming button is way out of easy access. I have to uncomfortably reach with my thumb to get the button. Its impossible to get if you put the back further.

Things started out great with my R.A.T. 5. I was very pleased with the product and it's features. I've had it for about 3 months and is used primarily for FPS's. About 5 minutes ago the right click became intermittent then stopped working altogether. Upon closer inspection I was shocked at how cheap the left and right click buttons were designed imo. One little plastic tab breaks and it's pretty much game over. I'm glad I didn't go for the 9. Back to the SW x8 for me.

@demonwolfdawg Maybe this reaction is late, but maybe you're still wondering. First of all, make sure if you want it to be wireless (9) or not (5,7). Second of all, you shouldn't pay attention to the size of the screen to compare it to the DPI, but with the resolution (1080p) and what YOU are comfortable with. I personally think 4000 DPI would be enough though. Nonetheless, it's your decision :)

@ZonixZ59706090 If you want to pay extra for an adjustable thumb rest, higher DPI (which isn't really needed as 4000dpi is more than enough) and some interchangeable plates then the RAT 7 is better, but personally I don't think it's worth the extra money so I went for the 5.

I have a RAT mouse. I loved it, but now its jumping. Its 3 Months old and doing an annoying twitch on sceen. Jumps at random times like 1cm, enough to close a program when you want to minimise it. Really annoying and going to get a new mouse. It also does this on other computers to it is the mouse.

@xXM1litantXx No, there is no slot or interface to attach a pinky rest on the RAT 5. The only way you could do it is to break or take apart the RAT 5 and maybe glue a pinky rest on, which I wouldn't recommend.

Thanks for the review, have just thrown my rokat kone (some £70) mouse int he bin after mouse button 1 failed to click several times. (the wheel broke a 6months after getting it) I mostly play mmo's and just want a comfortable mouse, I dont tend to care too much about having thousands of extra buttons, however want to find a mouse like the kone's size, Hopefully this will be adiquate.

I had my thumb scroll set as left click but somehow it does not work now i have tried reinstalling the driver as well as reprogramming the mouse using the software but for some reason it wont work.... suggestions?

@IamMrRagequit it definitely works with mine, but you do have to activate the profile, and activate it after a restart. i also use it on minecraft, scroll left for right click, right for left click, i also set it to click 10 times per tick of the wheel. it also works as an auto-fire on games that require it. Dont set it as too many clicks per tick of the wheel, or windows will get mad and beep at you about 2 times a second until the clicks stop, preventing any other mouse inputs.

@I9kieran94 The back grip on the RAT5 does not come off, it only slides back and forth. You MAY be able to break it off and fit the RAT7 grips on, but it's not something I'd try.

Also the mouse doesn't tip if you don't have ALL the weights in it AND have it pushes all the way back.

@Stipice You don't have to unlock anything else. It's as easy as pushing the little lever in and pulling back as I did in the video. It can be a bit stiff though.

Go into the software, programming tab and set right or left (or both) scroll to the space bar, or whatever button you use to jump in CS.

the reason the mouse was tipping back is your weights are on the wrong side of the spring, if you put weights on THEN spring then screw it in, it will not tip back on you :)
