If you look closely at the notes, you will see that Alex Acuna takes a break on this track and Jaco Pastorius plays the drums (with Badrena on congas). Therefore the drums are dubbed in. I reckon the hi-hat shuffle was used as a reference to set the tempo, then everything else was overdubbed.

As a percussionist myself, I have to say I've listened to a lot of weather report, and you guys are building this drum part too much. There are way better examples of groove and technical skill, maybe you should smother that joint you are smoking.

Teen Town was a club in Ft. Lauderdale that Jaco hung out at as a teenager. He wrote this song later as a tribute to those days.

After 4 days of intensive practising (from 4 to 10 hours each day), I got it !

Now I got to clean it and to play it faster to have the "relaxed" sensation of Jaco at this tempo.

For those who are working on it : Don't let you disheart, you'll catch it soon !

There's just one limit when you're practising : when your wrist hurts you so much that you can't play anymore.

I think you should see it if you haven't already here on YT, type : jaco lives... It shows what a guy Jaco was, he is a little high, so funny like a boy, but says some pretty interesting things about composition, music and his life
