this composistion is of such a great hight that bach, mozart and other great composers would be thankful to god that after they perrished other great composers have continued to serve god with their music, we bless mr Jaco Pastorius.
If you look closely at the notes, you will see that Alex Acuna takes a break on this track and Jaco Pastorius plays the drums (with Badrena on congas). Therefore the drums are dubbed in. I reckon the hi-hat shuffle was used as a reference to set the tempo, then everything else was overdubbed.
Maybe if you fix those ugly britty-teeth you could speak more articulately leading to typing actual good insults. I'm sure anything cool you could be privy to on a daily basis is wasted on your under-developed brain.
As a percussionist myself, I have to say I've listened to a lot of weather report, and you guys are building this drum part too much. There are way better examples of groove and technical skill, maybe you should smother that joint you are smoking.
A little of my background information, Musical training with some of the best drummers/percussionist.
Starting with Joe Morello... Study drums with him at a very early age whilst he was with the Dave Brubeck..... Then... Peter Erskine, again... privately in NYC, he was drumming with Weather Report... Drums... Here is a track I loved working out most of all hearing the beautiful drumming/Percussion Artistry:

@cheerskiwi yes it does...it's unmistakable Jazz bass tone...most of them have that growl tone that you describe. Listen to some live geddy using his jazz bass...very similar.
I'm a student too, but, because I wanna become a professional bass player, all my musical projects are more important than school. And all musical projects need work, and practising, and work, and practising (you know what I mean)...
There's just one limit when you're practising : when your wrist hurts you so much that you can't play anymore.
So : Greetings from France.
And just do me a favor : Check some Frank Zappa music, it's so good !
@PolishPrisoner Hey, let me thank you my friend! One of my friend is a bassist and he asked me to learn the drum part.. Your comment helped me to sing the hi-hats part and to learn it. Haha, thank you again ! I'm playing this in a week.
@PolishPrisoner Jaco Pastorius is playing the Bass Drum!!! For some reason this 1977 musical track sounds a lot like "Julliebee Stomp" by Duke Ellington from 1928!!!
@n64wilbert Yeah, he admired Duke for sure, cause I saw him showing a book about Duke in a movie in his home chilling out with friends. I think you should see it if you haven't already here on YT, type : jaco lives... It shows what a guy Jaco was, he is a little high, so funny like a boy, but says some pretty interesting things about composition, music and his life
@alexjrmarino I've seen Jaco lives(Archaic home video's when he lived in Miami, Florida in the 1980s) for the past 2 Gregorian years when I was 12 years old!! There was no unusual characteristics being projected in those film in fact it's quite common with people whom have been consider containing genuine intellects.
@alexjrmarino For that past 2 years I've been Laughing at the his Quotation "I'm Mark Twain and I have four beautiful children and I'm not christian FUCk You and I'm not Jimi Hendrix either I'm hot J,TURN THAT FUCKING SHIT UP!!"
@n64wilbert Yeah, spot on! My fave quotation and inspiration: bee-baa-boo-bommm.. I stole that from Otis Reading, and I admit it! Igor Stravinsky said a good composer never borrows, he STEALS!!! And the other saying how much John McLaughlin sux, hilarious! Oh, what a character he was and how much he influenced the real electric world...

Teen Town was a club in Ft. Lauderdale that Jaco hung out at as a teenager. He wrote this song later as a tribute to those days.

After 4 days of intensive practising (from 4 to 10 hours each day), I got it !
Now I got to clean it and to play it faster to have the "relaxed" sensation of Jaco at this tempo.
For those who are working on it : Don't let you disheart, you'll catch it soon !
