  • KONY 2012

  • i think i`m going step by step from metal to jazz

  • hahahaha Teen Time

  • Keith carlock tuned bass drum.

  • Jaco composed, played the bass, and played the drummonds on this beeotch!

  • Biggest of tunes.

  • Interesting track by Jaco...

  • jaco played drums on this track

  • this composistion is of such a great hight that bach, mozart and other great composers would be thankful to god that after they perrished other great composers have continued to serve god with their music, we bless mr Jaco Pastorius.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • If you want to experience love you listen to jazz =)

  • If you look closely at the notes, you will see that Alex Acuna takes a break on this track and Jaco Pastorius plays the drums (with Badrena on congas). Therefore the drums are dubbed in. I reckon the hi-hat shuffle was used as a reference to set the tempo, then everything else was overdubbed.

  • @trapfman

Maybe if you fix those ugly britty-teeth you could speak more articulately leading to typing actual good insults. I'm sure anything cool you could be privy to on a daily basis is wasted on your under-developed brain.

  • @trapfman

Taste my shit you limey bitch, I can play this song. A new student to the drums could play it in their first year.

  • @FullmoonPB

    go to bed.

  • The Flood was here.

  • aw someone missed the like button :/

  • this solo is like a bunch of questions... I dont know it just sounds like a dialogue to me:P

  • THIS ISN'T MY USER

    <-------------

this punches yyz in the mouth

    to hyperdog67

  • As a percussionist myself, I have to say I've listened to a lot of weather report, and you guys are building this drum part too much. There are way better examples of groove and technical skill, maybe you should smother that joint you are smoking.

  • @FullmoonPB Maybe you should actually learn how to play, newfag. I'm sure you'd fail hardcore trying to play this groove you inbred wanker :-)

  • Teen Town was a club in Ft. Lauderdale that Jaco hung out at as a teenager. He wrote this song later as a tribute to those days.

  • @0:32

    Song: Teen Time?

  • @Linas03 Saw that what a hammerhead.

  • Jaco was fuckin' ill as shit!

  • Has anyone noticed 'Teen Time' sounds alot like 'Teen Town'? Hmmm...

  • you might like to know the song is called Teen Town not "teen time"

  • A little of my background information, Musical training with some of the best drummers/percussionist.

Starting with Joe Morello... Study drums with him at a very early age whilst he was with the Dave Brubeck..... Then... Peter Erskine, again... privately in NYC, he was drumming with Weather Report... Drums... Here is a track I loved working out most of all hearing the beautiful drumming/Percussion Artistry:

  • @superflash519 and this means what to us.

  • 1 person thought they clicked dis, i like

  • @Firaje

You are a faggot, and a cancerous tumor on the temporal lobe of youtube's brain.

  • @heegohordavio haha yes! someone is taking action on these faggots other than me. good job.

  • @Firaje That would make no sense, the dislike button says "I dislike this"

    Learn to read.

  • this song was stuck in my head for 2 years straight...no joke. i love jaco.

  • Jaco's bass doesn't have that usual growl in this song :(

  • @cheerskiwi yes it does...it's unmistakable Jazz bass tone...most of them have that growl tone that you describe. Listen to some live geddy using his jazz bass...very similar.

  • @hyperdog67 yeh, the line in this song even reminds me a little of yyz

  • The phrasing of the sax and synth together is so cool in the "theme" part of this. It's like musical silk.

  • Wonderful.

    Just wonderful.

Although epic might work as well.

  • TEEN TOWN!!! Ye mannnn =p

  • Great Zaw... one of the most expressive band ever heard

  • After 4 days of intensive practising (from 4 to 10 hours each day), I got it !

Now I got to clean it and to play it faster to have the "relaxed" sensation of Jaco at this tempo.

For those who are working on it : Don't let you disheart, you'll catch it soon !

  • @badassII

4-10 hours a day? Damn nice. I average an hour a day (hard to find time to practice as a student). Keep up the good work!

  • @BassGuitarGuy128

This choice was despite my schooling.

I'm a student too, but, because I wanna become a professional bass player, all my musical projects are more important than school. And all musical projects need work, and practising, and work, and practising (you know what I mean)...

There's just one limit when you're practising : when your wrist hurts you so much that you can't play anymore.

    So : Greetings from France.

And just do me a favor : Check some Frank Zappa music, it's so good !

  • @badassII

Wow nice! You have great dedication! You've encouraged me to strive to practice more! Best of luck to you!

  • ufuuufuuf wowowow!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the bass is insane

  • jaco and stanley have completely diff styles. they arent comparable

  • jaco and stanleys styles were totally different. u cant compare them

  • This is as close to genius in the music biz one can get

In my humble opinion 3/4 of the world missed out

Thank God U & I can listen to what should have been a #1 Pop song

Cool---fuck this is heaven--waayyyyyy beyond cool

Tears of complete joy---If U hear me lads somewhere in spirit...Thank U for this gift

    Whew

  • ballin

  • Love the "shuck-a-ti, shuck-a-ti, shuck-a-ti..." percussion.

  • @PolishPrisoner Hey, let me thank you my friend! One of my friend is a bassist and he asked me to learn the drum part.. Your comment helped me to sing the hi-hats part and to learn it. Haha, thank you again ! I'm playing this in a week.

    «Shuck-a-ti! Shuck-a-ti»

    Nothing's better than drummer's vocabulary!

  • @PolishPrisoner It's Jaco on an hihat. He used to be a drummer 'till his wrist got injured.

  • @PolishPrisoner hahahaha it does say "shuck-a-ti"

  • @PolishPrisoner Jaco Pastorius is playing the Bass Drum!!! For some reason this 1977 musical track sounds a lot like "Julliebee Stomp" by Duke Ellington from 1928!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @n64wilbert I have listened to some jubilee stomp versions, but none of them is getting even an inch close to this teen town composition.

    maybe I am missing something?

  • @n64wilbert Yeah, he admired Duke for sure, cause I saw him showing a book about Duke in a movie in his home chilling out with friends. I think you should see it if you haven't already here on YT, type : jaco lives... It shows what a guy Jaco was, he is a little high, so funny like a boy, but says some pretty interesting things about composition, music and his life

  • @alexjrmarino I've seen Jaco lives(Archaic home video's when he lived in Miami, Florida in the 1980s) for the past 2 Gregorian years when I was 12 years old!! There was no unusual characteristics being projected in those film in fact it's quite common with people whom have been consider containing genuine intellects.

  • @alexjrmarino For that past 2 years I've been Laughing at the his Quotation "I'm Mark Twain and I have four beautiful children and I'm not christian FUCk You and I'm not Jimi Hendrix either I'm hot J,TURN THAT FUCKING SHIT UP!!"

  • @n64wilbert Yeah, spot on! My fave quotation and inspiration: bee-baa-boo-bommm.. I stole that from Otis Reading, and I admit it! Igor Stravinsky said a good composer never borrows, he STEALS!!! And the other saying how much John McLaughlin sux, hilarious! Oh, what a character he was and how much he influenced the real electric world...

  • @PolishPrisoner Jaco played the drums on this jam...And, of course, the bass as well.

  • @PolishPrisoner u must be a drummer haha

  • @PolishPrisoner

Jaco actually played the drums on this and the beass on this recording.

  • @Bartholomule01 bass'
