Shinra was hunting both him and Cloud down. He was trying to get them both back to Midgar, and attempted to fight off the troops to save Cloud, but they shot him down and pretty much figured Cloud was already a goner so they left him alone.

Why isn't the whole Final Fantasy Story about Final Fantasy VII?? Ok FFX is also not bad and XII also, but VII was the best i found. Just Crisis Core, the normal, the movie are about Aerith, zack, Cloud and Tifa. I would find it better if the whole FF is about them

@TheValchrist well for starters, genesis didn't write LOVLESS, it was just his favourite poem/play, which is why he quoted it, and the fact that it describes Zack, is on purpose, the Square-Enix made it so it would fit him

It's a fight that you can't win.. It's pure despair and once you realise you're gonna die and Cloud says those words the whole connection between Zacks story and Clouds story really kicks off.. You've gotta remember that Cloud is still suffering from Mako poisoning too so what he says is quite a mouthful.

Geez... talk about brutality on zack's death (original FFVII shinra mansion scene) in my humble opinion if zack didnt died HE would be the hero of the whole FFVII series! so that the Cloud,Tifa And Aerith love triangle issue would end! cloud and tifa WHATEVER! But Aerith And Zack? Romeo and juliet can say goodbye on being a classic. true FFVII was the prized jewel of the FF series and is sharing the crown with Kingdom hearts for Originality.

yes VII is pretty much Cloud's story, even tho it greatly involes the other characters aswell, its mainly set around Cloud, Crisis Core is Zack's story, how he came to be and so on, Advent Children is the "ending" of Cloud's story

the Soldiers that pick up Genesis are Nero and Weiss from Dirge of Cerberus, Kadaj, Loz and Yazoo are Sephiroth split into three parts becuase of Sephiroth's strong will after he "died" in VII
