  • slide tool can be risky

  • get swap magic coder and use it to install fmcb on your ps2 memory card then theres not swap needed. in fact you dont even need the original game

  • hehehehehehe!

  • will it work for gh3 customs?? anyone?

  • Is the "timing window" for swapping the disk the same as on a slim?

  • does this only works for gh2??

  • When I switch them my disk spins then beeps then spins then beeps and just keeps doing that!

  • that usually means you're switching the disk too late. if it just spins up with no other noise at all, then too early. if its done correctly, it should load the second disk within just a few seconds

  • is there a chance it would break my ps2

  • if you force it.there is a chance. just have to be careful. if you force it you may break the locking pin off.

  • i salute those who actually play the vintage nintendo.

    salutatiions,zean.

  • i tryed it my backups wont play

  • those dis only work for guitar hero or any game?

  • So, for the slim, can't you just switch the CD's?

  • no because when you open the slim it resets or something.there is a way to do this though

  • YES it DOES work on the slim, there's simply a little button you have to tape down.

  • thanks for the info

  • o yea nintendo 64 all te way!

  • ok guys, the vid for Slimeline is obviously gone, so I might get around to posting one...

  • when i do it with mine it wont load from the redoctane screen...

would u no y it does this?????

and also is it normal 4 the disc 2 keep spinning when i pull it out with the slide tool????

  • the disc will still be spinning spin. test your iso in an emulator. if it stops at the same spot, then sounds like a problem from there. go back and remake the iso. if the same go back further.

  • where can i get an emulator from????

is it like a program i can download n shit????

or wot should i type in2 google????

  • pcsx2

  • so can i play rathet deadlocked if it is burned and having ratchet up you rarsenla can i switch deadlocked wiht up your arsenal.

  • do you have to have an original copy of GH2 or is there a way to load the game with just a burned copy of GH2 inside?

  • i dont know i only have a burned copy of guitar hero 2 but not the original. is there a way to bbot it using a different game.

  • does this work for skinny ps2s i wanna do this so badly someone plz tell me i gotta know

  • look around for the tape and tissue mod. it does work with slims

  • OMGF this vid SAVED MY LIFE

sweet mother of pearl omfg r u serious

u want some roflcakes with that lmaonade

    hmmmmm???

  • You know... I'm not an English genius or anything, but I don't think some of those were words...

  • he's just jolly thats all

  • i made lmao nade sound like lemonade you idiot it was a joke

  • Don't call me an idiot, you monkey. I'm fully aware it was a joke. I responded with sarcasm to continue the joke. Ass.

  • Now picturing monkeys eating roflcakes.

no need to argue guys, its the internet. theres always free games or pron or something to vent your frustrations. have fun!

  • Yes, sir...

  • hey man can this work with guitar hero 3 and rock the 08's? please help

  • rock the 80's yes. 3, i have no idea.

  • how do i take off the front tho, the sony logo part

  • ive heard this breaks kids ps2's

  • If They aren't careful and apy attention to what they're doing. If it get stuck, don't force it, go slow, back up and try again. that way it's less painful. (for your ps2...)

  • yes, it does. It messes with the gears.

Doesn't matter how careful you are. it DOES break your ps2 if you don't use Swap Magic.

  • do you realize that swap magic is the same thing? The only difference is they give you a boot disk that tells you when to switch the disk. then you still use a slide card to forcefully open the tray. They have disclaimers as well, saying they aren't responsible if you break it.

  • 2 things:

1 - the disk isnt spinning when you use Swap Magic, so the slide card doesnt open it while the ps2 is working.

2 - i have a thin ps2, so i dont have to worry about slide cards.

  • then don't copmplain if it doesn't concern you.

  • I never complained

  • They're right, you know. This /does/ damage PS2's. I'm not condoning nor condemning usage of this, I'm just saying. SwapMagic is a heckuva lot safer, because it actually /stops/ the disc from spinning completely.

  • will this just work with guitar hero?

  • da slide technique works for every swap but as for "backups" im not sure im wondering da same thing.

  • What other swaps are there? You basically swap to play a copied game, right? So All that's happening is you're swapping a backup that's been "adjusted"

  • yes This Works With Guitar Hero 1 & 2 and i think i remember someone saying 80's as well.

Not Sure About 3 though. haven't bothered.

  • that sounds like a timing issue. i think you might be opening the tray a little early. could be wrong tho. it different timing for each console for when you open. just try waiting longer or less till you find it.

  • well i have a problem i have a backup game burned on a memorex DVD-R and i did ur method and i do open the tray with the slide tool and then havin trouble to lock it back with the slide tool, but here is the thing when i closed the tray hard the noise is gone and it is starting reading the disk and then the screen is black, any suggestions???

  • wow exactly the same with me... i too am having trouble locking it back with the slide tool .. AND my screen turns black too

  • i can pop the disk tray out with the slide tool but when i put my custom disk in and push the tray in it doesn't feel like i am latching onto the pin to pull back to the left. but when i push the eject it ejects fine and even works when i put the original cd back in.

its not the timing since ive tried 100s of times at different times and im pretty sure i used a sony dvd-r and created the game correctly.

    any feedback is appriciated

  • when you open the disk tray hold the slide tool in the exact spot you pulled from. switch with your free hand and close. holding your hand there keeps the tool lined up with the locking pin. get used to the feel of where it is and you can find it everytime.

  • yea im having trouble because when i pull open the tray, the slide tool falls and i lose my spot

  • love the NES

  • what the hell i that thing that u stick in the playstation?????

  • it's a homemade slide tool. its used to unlock the disk tray so i can pull it open. if you hit the eject button the system resets. look for tutorials on youtube.

  • how could i get custom songs on rockband?

  • don't have the slightest clue. not possible yet. sorry

  • can you do this if you only have a backup of the game but not the original?

  • I hope so, but I don't know...

  • technically no. that isn't legal. if you have a broken original that will at least boot. you can swap it.

  • is it normal to hear a repeating chirp noise while swapping the disks, or is that the sign of bad timing?

  • it's normal. that's the lens trying to focus on a disc. but there isn't one while its open, so yea.

  • wat is this video about? its just him opening the disk thing without pressing the button

  • proof of swapping the original game out with a backup copy, or custom copy.

  • well u know, like on any game instead of GH2

  • theorhetically it SHOULD work, but it would have to be the same game. the boot files are made specially for each game size etc. etc. otherwise trial and error. what's a few lost discs to increasing your knowldge?

  • WHat do u mean by same game?

And a few lost disks...they are worth WAY more than my knowledge. lol

  • lol. the reason why swapping GH 1 or 2 (dunno about 3 yet) works, is because it's the same game. all of the games formatting etc. is copied with exception of the songs being replaced. that waywhen it load the system file for the original disc, the backup reads the same way. something along those lines anyway

  • So when u say backup...

U mean burning the ISO file onto a CD?

And would this work on any backup cd?

  • if you have a slim ps2 i added a response of how to do a tape and tissue mod (its the black one)

  • dude the way u did it u couse have broke it lol . there was to much force on the way u pushed it in. lol

  • thank ya very much thats the nicest thing that anybodys ever done for meeeee...lol but ya i did it and it worked

  • you look like your trying to break the thing towards the end. do you know the timing for gh3? i cant figure it out.

  • every game has diffrent loading times youd have to put alot of time into it to figure it out

  • Okay? So just how is this proof? For all we know, you could have the PS2 already modded, or, if you where really wanting to fool a bunch of morons- You could've just put in a real copy of GH1 or 2.

  • ok dude youcan shut up now i do this all the time and it works.

  • it works fantastic!!!!

  • AWESOME!!! I have gotta try this.

  • OMG nintendo w00t FTW!!!!!!!!!

    lol XD

  • this does not work with all games, only works of hey have the same "SLUS" Code

  • Does this work with all games? most games? or just GH2?

  • Ok I used the slide card now my PS2 won't read discs? Did i break something? lol

  • you probably knocked the lase out of alignment. crack your system open unless its under warranty and look at your eye on your laser.

  • Yeah, Unfortunatley For U Theres A 1/10 Chance Of Breaking Ur PS2, I Thnik U Were That 1

    Sorry...

  • i can get the red octane logo on my tv, but then, it does do nothing ;< if you can help me plz send me comment.

  • keep trying to get the timing right, or you just might have a corrupt disc.

  • oumaidog, you probably burned the disc incorrectly

  • same here i get redoctane sign den nuttin appens

  • you burned it wrong. try using a slower speed or better program. I use alcohol 120% with sony dvd +rw and they work 100%

  • The tape/tissue mod video's been removed, I just ordered a new slim PS2 because my fat one's disc tray broke and I need to see how to do it...

Do you know where I can see any other vids?

  • hey a NES! XD

  • Ok Im pretty sure I have got the timming since I can get the red octane symbol on my screen.. but then nothing happens after that. I've followed the methods of burning the custom DVD EXACTLY and still nothing.

  • can you put the tray cover back on after you're done with this?

  • My fat playstation is 8 seconds after the playstation logo

  • The Timing part takes me about 2-4 hours to get. I tired everything:

    Counting to 4

    Counting to 5

    1 mississippi....etc..

    1 miss

    1 and 2 and 3 and etc...

How the heck to people get ti there first try

  • on mine, it was something like,

    1 missis

    2 missis

    3 missis

    4 open

5 switch, but let the lens make it noise 5 times before closing.

as i've said though. the condition of each console can vary a little. time when you see the logo to when you switch. mine was 12 sec, but others are near 9

  • Dangit, I bought Swap Magic when I coulda just done this.

  • it happens. don't look back. no regrets.

  • here do i need to buy a replacement cover for the the disc tray or just take the orignal cover off and use a homemade slide card?

  • you just need to take the tray cover off. that's it.

  • How do i pop off the front of the disc tray?

  • There are 2 screws on the bottom.

  • can you put in gh 1 and then take it out and put guitar hero 2 back up in it???

  • should be able to. not sure of the timing. i had someone post before that the swap works for GH1, but they didn't say what combo they used.

  • ok thanks :D

  • how did u remove the sony logo?

  • remove the screw on the bottom of the front of the tray and pop it off the clips on each end. But be careful, cuz they break easily

  • How long do you wait to open it?

When I did it, it had a loud scratching. I did something wrong, didn't I?

  • swapping time can vary a little per console, but it's somewhere around eleven to thirteen seconds for the fatties. the slim-lines are closer to 8 sec. gotta feel for it. know your PS2 and figure out its weakspot.

  • Ok im thinking about doing this How do i make the disc with custom songs?? PLz help me

  • check out the forums on scorehero dotcom for tutorials. there's also a couple of helpful links in the description of this video.

  • also how do you get the card to open the ps2 where does it hook on or whatever

  • There's a link to making a card in the video description.card hook on a little pin under the tray. be gentle as it CAN break

  • how do you make your type of card

  • Just did it and it works fine so if people are having trouble its there disc not the way there doing it most likely. Thanks a ton man!

  • can u explain the whole process to me? and how i would play a japanese game like narultimate accel on it to me?

  • roughly it's just making a backup and swapping it with the original. don't know if naruto would work to swap with GH, but another naruto game maybe could be used as a boot disc for the import. just have to figure out the timing for it.

  • okay i want to play my custom songs but i read that this can break your ps2 is it really that easy to break it just from using the slide card?

  • it depends if you're rough with it. mostly people just pop their tray off it's track. but it IS possible to break the locking pin under the tray. if that breaks that it. you need it repaired or have to buy a fliptop case.

  • OMG!!! Right before my swap magic arrived my PS2 broke, and im pretty sure its not fixable. Now I have to go get a new PS2!!!

  • OOOoooohhhh!!!! That sucks

  • i keep worrying mine's gonna go soon too. just out of age. I've logged alot of hours on it. plus there's been a few night that i've fallen asleep with it on........ don't know why dragon quest 8 puts me to sleep....

  • wow i did everything you said and now my ps2 wont even play the original game or any other games. do you know what happened?

  • number of reasons. if the tray wroks AND locks shut. then you may have mis-aligned gears.check online for tutorial on fixing dvd playback. it's basically a gear thats off by a few teeth.

  • i have no idea what this is what r u doing?please explain

  • Once you take out the original and it is making that noise trying to read the disk once a second is it supposed to keep making that sound?

  • while you have the tray open, it WILL keep making that sound. i usually close it after FIVE squeeks. doesn't seem to matter if you wait too long while its open, so long as you'd opened at the right time.(in my head, at least) it seemed to fail more often when i would rush switching the disk and closing the tray before those 5 squeeks. could be wrong, but that's why you shouldn't rush anyway.

  • well I haven't been able to do it even once yet and it only takes me about five seconds to do it without rushing. But when I close it, it keeps making that noise. Any help?

  • I tried your method several times and I believe I have everything timed correctly. However when I put my backup copy of gh2 in, nothing happens (screen stays blank). I'm thinking it may be an error in the backup disc but if you have any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.

  • If on the black screen the lens is making ALOT of repeated noises, you switched too late. if the lens is quiet then too early. it's also possible that it's the media. use the expensiver ones DVD-R they're worth it.

  • I bought sony dvd-r discs today in hopes it would work. It didn't. Does the size of the backup disc have to be smaller/larger than the original? My original disc is larger than my backup disc.

  • I just used DVD decrytpter and burnt an exact replica of GH2. Used your method and it worked fine. Seems the problem is originating from when I customized the game. Do you know of any guides that would be useful?

  • when customizing, are you using dvd_gen and apache to rebuild it??

Apache will take a while to build the iso and alot of people just close it without noticing the loading bar at the bottom. check other people's similar problems

  • depends what you replaced. mines large cuz i added some longer songs. so it doesn't matter too much. double check if your iso is working in the PCSX2 emu. its slow, but if it boots to a menu it works. otherwise it's happening at the swap.

  • heya, im still trying this on mine, one thing though, my PS2 takes like 30 seconds to load a CD because its reallly old, you think i should still be able to do this if i time it right?

  • oh and i get a black scream right after it starts loading after 30 seconds

  • First thought would be to run a disk cleaner through it a couple of times. alot of times its just a dirty lens. otherwise it'll still be down to the units timing.

  • wait so what the hell is this doing. are u just putting the real guitar hero in and swaping it with a disk that has modifyed songs so u can play it or are u making another copy of the game i cant tell

  • I'm starting With the original game and switching it with exact copy of the game, except i switched the songs on the copy.

  • okay i tried this i download all the programs on my computer and finaly i put the real copy of the game in and my computer didnt read it. it says theres no disk

  • first thought..... do you have a DVD burner? if so, then the drive's screwed up. if not, the games is a dvd, so you'd need a dvd burner to read and write a copy.

  • thanks alot bro it worked ur the best

  • Is there a certain type of DVD-R that i have to use, cus it just isn't working for me. I mean i've had all of these problems, but at points it makes a squeaky noise once, like its loading a disc, but then nothing happens. I'm pretty sure i've done all of the steps right, but it's still not working correctly.

  • I had begun with a store brand, but wondered why it sucked...... So i dished out a little extra and bought the sony DVD-R and have never had a single problem with them. The expensive disks are worth it for the quality.

  • i did that and i'm still having problems

  • You cheated!!!! you took out a red disk and put in the original! you cant hide it any longer.

  • did you even read the description? I clearly wrote and have stated in other posts that I used the original GH2 disk to boot and switched it with a customized copy. the reason it looks "orange" is because i have a "d-skin" er on the back of the disk. It's there in hopes of minimizing the disk scratching.

  • Does the disc tray have to be fully open????

cause i cant mine fully open im scared i might break the disk tray!

  • and when i tried it the damn tray didnt open!!! fuck@!!

  • first off, stay calm. now, do you mean you aren't able to pull the tray open or push the button to open it? if pushing the button, there's a chance that you just popped the tray off it's track and jammed it. that's fixable. close the tray if you can and make sure the locking pin is still there. if it is then you're ok. you might only need to open the PS2 to pop the tray back in place.

  • no like I Couldnt Open The Tray With The Slide Card

  • no like i coudlnt pull the tray open with the slide card please help me!!

  • I just posted a video response of how to do it without a slide card or anything and it is all free. I borrowed techniques from the slim ps2 video. Good luck.

  • while it is true that opening the system and switching by the laser timing works; not everyone is able to do so, or willing. or they risk more by messing something critical up. though my method takes a lil more guess work, it doesn't involve having to keep your console open to spilled sodas etc. or just having to keep opening and closing it.

  • How do you take the ps2 logo plate thing off?

  • open the tray, power off ps2(tray still open), remove small screw on bottom of faceplate. pop off at clip at each end. careful, cuz they're easy to break.

  • Help! when I put my custom disc into my ps2, my slide card gets jammed into the ps2. Any help would be much appreciated!

  • need to know where or when you're getting jammed. if possible when switching, use one hand to open.keep that hand with the slide card in the place you pulled it open from, switch the disc with your other hand.when you close the card should be in the exact spot it will need to be to close because you kept it there. help at all?

  • Hey, i made a video on how to do this with slim, if you feel like it, you might want to make a link to it in your description, so you won't get as many questions on it, i linked to this video from mine for people who have fattys.

  • awesome. thanks alot. wish i had a slim too.

  • can u do the slide trick with a slim ps2

  • yes. tape and tissue mod.

  • ok pleaze help me, what is the tissue mod and also im just tring to load a ps1 burned imbnes on ps2 (is it possable?

  • ps1 is a whole other thing, but i've heard its possible. check the description for a link to the tape and tissue mod.

  • no matter what i try, i get a black screen

  • it ALL in the timing. if you hear constant lens noises on that black screen, then you need to switch earlier.

  • ok so it worked for the first couple times and now it wont load the red octane thing i only get a black screen help please

  • same

  • Check if the iso loads correctly with pcsx2. if it does then either it's rthe media you're using or when you're swapping

  • This is gheto! i mean seriously

  • word. but it does work, so we use what we can.
