When you build a flying craft, wouldn't you equip it with a parachute? You'd think that because an inventor started something themselves, that they don't see the natural needed things surrounding it. You'll be surprise what worlds we are in. However an Airplane is something else. Sometimes I wonder how the heck is an Earth so Vast become built and dominated with buildings and roads in such a fashion. What are we??
If flying crafts are to overtake the skies, we want to make sure it's as safe as possible. The question is whether it's good for society. Police pursuits, crimes, falling crafts, etc.
@heartlessvietboy Right now the flying car seems impossible, you don't know the future there buddy. Many years ago we thought cell phones were impossible...look at us now.
These people know that if the drive fails in any way the device falls to the ground unimpeded with catastrophic consequences. it is this fundamental problem that has sunk every other jetpack invented and will sink this one. It all on wikapedia.
@HotRodKush You don't really have to bother answering, if you look at other videos from the company, it quickly becomes obvious that this guy is trolling professionally... and I'd be willing to bet quite a sum who voted with a dislike on this vid.
@Rapido3d Well first off it is not fitted with a ballistic chute, they say one will be developed. A ballistic chute and an ejector seat are not similar devices. All a ballistic chute does is withdraw the chute to its maximum extension and rest is normal parachute operation. The best off them needs about 300 feet to open and brake the fall. A 0 0 ejector seat (Martin Baker) rockets the sitting pilot up deploying the chute while going up often greatly assisted by speed. Cost @ 250.000 pounds UK.
Yeah, I will strap a 747 turbine on my back and call it a jetpack sure. That thing is FHUGE!!! hahahahahahahaha. I thought the concept of a jetpack was to be able to let the user move on the ground without the help of 2 or 3 guys??? Whats the point of this? I rather fly a mini helicopter.
@lostchildren - baby steps, mate. The thing's still being developed, and they don't want to kill too many test pilots during the learning curve period.
It practically IS a mini-helicopter, in ducted form.
Still, I feel this is going to be another Moller Skycar.
@JBofBrisbane Yeah I wondered if it would go that route but I have spoken to Glenn a few times and watched their progress for a few years now and I think they are on the right track, I think they will succeed and the price will come down, they have good range and I can see them being used by the the rescue and medical services, film companies, land surveyors etc etc. I think it is the most credible and affordable vtol to date.
Great to see but I think it needs two motors - otherwise it would have to always be above the minimum safe parachute deployment height. And these things can't auto-rotate!
If English is not your primary language then I am glad to help. If you assimilate something, you absorb it into you.
For example: Young migrants are quick to assimilate into their new country's culture, but older migrants take longer to assimilate.
People are not being absorbed, nor do most of us assume that something called a "jet pack" by the manufacturer would be anything but a jet powered pack.
In your native language, how would you describe the manufacturers LYING about their product?
@CHNOPSXXY And just to be clear, assimilate can be used to describe being absorbed into something, or you absorbing something into you or your personality.
@CHNOPSXXY It's called Jetpack because of popular use of that word. Everyone assimilates a machine that goes on your back and makes you fly as a Jetpack, so I believe the company just went with it.
@pedroca2424 the word you were looking for was, "assumes."
I guess by your logic, we should call all airplanes, "Jets."
I do not know the motivation behind the company lying about their product, but to willfully mislead, as they have done, should certainly be a RED FLAG of warning for customers who should wonder, "When will they tell the truth and when will they embellish?"
I wouldn't fly something from a company who I didn't trust, and I don't trust these guys, already.
@CHNOPSXXY sorry, english is not my primary language, but I think assimilate worked fine for my purpose. "To make similar; cause to resemble"
I don't get why you say the company is lying to you. Everyone knows thats not a jet. I don't think anyone would want a jet on the back. They just went for a popular name that instantly everyone assemblies to, instead of a overcomplex name that no one will know what its about. And on an early phase like this, the most attention you get, the best!
@CHNOPSXXY folks aint that dumb it uses ducted fans ,fans put out a column of air,a column of air is sometimes called a jet of air.anybody considering one of these things is gonna be smart enough to know what it is.pilots aint dumb
OK so I want one! Thats looks like it will be one awesome machine when it's done but I don't know how many practical applications there can be for it.
Of course it's good for society you idiot... Been in a traffic jam lately?
