Anyone interested in Missouri should check out my civil war reenacting groups website. We are Crowely's 3rd. MO Inf. based out of KC, MO. 2011 is the 150th annv. of 1861 and Missouri will have reenactments at Wilson's Creek, Lexington, Carthage, Cole Camp, Booneville, and Athens. Our reenacting group est. in the late 70's and is the largest and best Conf. Infantry Company in the Mid-West. Our 2011 reenacting impression will be that of a Missouri State Guard Infantry
I participated in the Wilson's Creek reenactment in the early 90's. Got to fight at Bloody Hill, the Corfield and with Franz Siegels 3rd Missouri Regiment. There were over 5000 reenactors in it and it was a sight to see....
I reenacted with the Holmes Brigade for the 150th, I think, reenactment in the early 90's. It was cool how they grew a cornfield especially for the Rays Cornfield fight. We had over 5,000 at that reenactment. I was at the top of Bloody Hill on the last day and had one cartridge left and then it was called. The Bloody Hill segment lasted for over an hour and my gun was so damn hot it was unreal. Had powder in my mouth and my fingers were splitting because of the dryness of the powder.
Hurrah for the brave Dutchy soldiers of Franz Sigel's 3rd Missouri Infantry. I had the honor of participating in this film. I played a US Regular in the Cornfield, a soldier with the 2nd Kansas on Bloody Hill, 3rd Mo Inf during Sigel's Retreat, and a Missouri State Guardsman. 27 minute video now showing at the Wilson's Creek Visitors Center.
