Which is exactly what the Republicans have been pushing for, for years, and have been shot down by Democrats. Republicans want to put more of the control into the consumer considering it's THEIR health.
Which is why we need a Public Option. If you don't have or like the coverage you have, get the kind of coverage you want. If you do like what you have, don't change it.
But with public option, the government is in complete control of how much it will cost. They can spike it whenever they want, which of course makes the consumer mad. If the coverage lowers, then hospitals loose the money they need to operate on, and of course, we NEED hospitals. Also, if it lowers, demand for treatment will go up, since it isn't such a blow to the consumer. Once that happens, waiting lists for things such as kimo, or transplants build up. People can die because of that.
Another bad thing about that healthcare plan, is that the private insurers will lose business big time, and eventually have to completely quite their business. America thrives on mostly small, and medium sized businesses. Wiping out a complete sector of business will hurt the U.S.
Ok, believe what you want. But I know a lot of people who work hard, pay taxes, and do what average Americans do on a daily basis. Why can't they have decent,quality healthcare coverage? People are dying because they don't have coverage. The government is not taking over the system, it's making it open to people who need it. Healthcare companies are making enough money already by sending people into debt. You see it one way, I see it another. Sorry.
Well, first off, I'm not saying a decent quality health care coverage is bad, I know it's a good thing. But that does not excuse any of my points. People may be dying because of not enough coverage now, but when EVERYONE can afford it, hospitals get filled to the brim with people that may not even have a serious problem. Lines for surgery in hospitals increase significantly,
tell that to people in Canada and Europe where they have almost free access to care. No, they don't have to wait for months for a heart or liver. They pay high taxes, but the care is equal(if not better) than ours. There are long lines to see doctors here in the United States.
Um, I personally know people in Canada who have almost died because they didn't get the treatment they needed,when they needed it. Some have had to come here to the U.S. and pay out of pocket the $20,000 or whatever to get treatment. Some people are happy yes, those are the people at the head of the lines. What about everyone behind them?
They're not getting the treatment they need when they need it. For all know, they may need treatment the next day, which will be unavailable to them with the President's plan.
and even more people will die then before. In fact, there was a recent headline saying that in Britain, 4,000 mothers had to give birth in hallways because their wasn't room in the hospitals. It's not a matter of your opinion or mine, it's a matter of what will actually happen, and the consequences of our actions. But with public option, the government is in complete control of how much it will cost. They can spike it whenever they want, which of course makes the consumer mad. If the coverage lowers, then hospitals loose the money they need to operate on, and of course, we NEED hospitals. Also, if it lowers, demand for treatment will go up, since it isn't such a blow to the consumer. Once that happens, waiting lists for things such as kimo, or transplants build up. People can die because of that.

Yes, the government basically is taking over the system, and again, does not excuse any of my points. People may be dying because of not enough coverage now, but when EVERYONE can afford it, hospitals get filled to the brim with people that may not even have a serious problem. Some have had to come here to the U.S. and pay out of pocket the $20,000 or whatever to get treatment. Some people are happy yes, those are the people at the head of the lines. It's not a matter of your opinion or mine, it's a matter of what will actually happen, and the consequences of our actions. come on now, we all know it will be subsidized then monopolized, leading to single payer & the takeover of health care. the progressives like the big government "Nanny" state like Canada. in America we want a small Federal government. the Governing should be done by the state, not the federal government. if it's done by the states we can all get what we want. i you want a cradle to grave "nanny" state move to CA or NJ. if you want a no frills Government move to AK or TX.

We can't move anywhere to avoid it because it's a Federal Program. you don't need all the states to Pass it, the state you live in needs to adopt this policy or you need to move to one that has state run health care. all of us "anti-government people" will move to States with less government.

I am real, define socialism. to be fair we will use the Wiki definition: "economic organization advocating state, worker or public ownership and administration of the means of production and allocation of resources, and a society characterized by equal access to resources for all individuals with an egalitarian method of compensation. Socialism is not a political system; it is an economic system distinct from capitalism." Isn't it what you are asking for?

I think this is something both parties must think about.
If the government wants to be a "partner" of the people it must remember it is to be "of the people". Take a good hard look at what is going on in this country right now and you may see something you do not like. Gov't has set itself ABOVE the people. It is neither a "partner" or "of the people". Take a good hard look at history and you will see that EVERY democracy followed the SAME path we are on and imploded.
