I'd also forgo the stock and just use water. The stock tends to color the rest of the veggies, while it's prettier and cleaner looking with water. Just water, garlic and sea salt will suffice.
I was watching a dermatologist on a show the other day and he was saying there's 5 things to eat to stay young and healthy looking (like it keeps you young looking and skin glowing as we all age (yikes!) lol ...anyway, one of the 5 things was to eat alot of Kale. I'm so glad I watch this. I bought my 1st Kale yesterday and will cook it tonight. Dr. said Kale is sooooooo good for us, especially if we wanna stay young looking and glow
Thanks for the demo. A friend also suggested to de-stem the leaves, wash them, apply a rub of olive oil, cumin, coriander and some salt and pepper and bake it till it's crispy.
This demonstration is excellent, other videos overcook the kale which drains a lot of the nutrients, and the pieces are cut just right. I like the balsamic idea i am going to try that.
@jenishak hope you like it...I eat a ridiculous amt of kale. just had it at a cafe in brooklyn,ny with grits - and they just blanched it (2-3 minutes) which was also delicious! Nothing beats a quick saute though! -diana at outpost
agreed! We call them "super potatoes!" Little bit of nutritional yeast & Braggs...and we're talking some seriously delicious hippy food - that's not just for hippies anymore!
Thank you for your video. I am wanting to introduce kale and swiss chard to my diet, however, I had no idea on how to prepare the vegetable nor cook it. Thank you so much, your video is very informative.
The important thing is to cook, well or not. Most N. Americans don't.
Don't try to compete with what comes in packages, egad, read the labels.
Chop up some carrots, potatoes, and slice thin the kale stems, simmer with oil. Add the chopped kale leaves later, with a bit of garlic you smashed with a coffe mug. Have a glass of wine. Throw a bit of fish on top of this. Top up the wine, and it's bliss.
I live in the Midwest and we seldom/never eat kale. Around here it's a garnish at the salad bar. I grew some in my garden this year and I am intending to eat some tonight. This video was very helpful. Thank you.
was it delicious??? Adding finely diced sweet red pepper at the very end...or even some sesame seeds and sesame oil...is also deeelicious. Hope it was great! -diana at outpost

Great stuff. Where are you from? Is this a native dish in certain areas?
Thanks!

Froze the kale for 1 night. Than cook it with potatoes. And you have your self a Dutch cuisine "Boeren kool" Strans Farmer cabbage.

I"m baffled that people enjoy bitter tasting things. Good for all of you who do tho. Have a 2nd helping for me because I can't tolerate bitter.

Kale gets much tastier after a frost, although it is delicious when about 4" high early in the season.
Nutrtion: a mouthful of kale = a truckful of lettuce or a bucket of peas.
DO NOT throw out the stems, cook longer.

I like the olive oil and garlic to cook it in. It looks so green and healthy. I would like to try this but I really can't cook very well.

This was great. I sometimes buy different veggies in the store without knowing what to do with them and thus your video was perfect.
