Not sure how necessary this is given the video is 3 months old but I reckon at around 9:06 in the video you should have rolled forward then used the uppercut move that people were bugging you about.
I don't know about you Shepard, but having played Tri and 3rd. Uragaan's roar in both to me seems tremendously different. He sounds more like a Pokemon in 3rd..
@seromaynh it's one of the morphslashes. You have the axe-to-sword, press R when doing the walking stab with the axe, and the opposite, after the swordslash that's horizontal, press R to do a normal sideswing (a button, don't press, just that's the attack) of the axe.
Does Sharpness have any bearing on cutting off the part? Like, if you have greater sharpness, like purple or blue, will it come off quicker? Also, if the sharpness isn't enough and it bounces, can you still cut it off?
@hiddenunknownvpower Sharper weapons do more damage, so they'll help cut off the weapon in that sense. You can still cut something with a bounce, but bounced hits do 75% the normal amount of damage.
@seromaynh iknow i know, I'm playing this game on my own, but it looks like that SD hit with the sword, the bar gets empty and while its transforming back to axe mode he hits uragaan the last time.
Normally you have to wait when it transform back, but in this video it looks like that he didn't wait
@TToud You can combo back into axe mode after using the horizontal swipe with the sword, which is generally what you want to be doing before you run out of Phial since it saves you from having to wait for the reload animation to play out and allows you to keep up a combo by then going into the axe upswing.
SD, I have the direct quoe from the Damage formula: "If
your weapon has an attack vial, use [VAR] = 1.25. In the case of the elemental
vial, also use 1.25, however you will be entering it into the elemental
damage portion instead of the raw damage portion of the formula."
This is actually just common sense; an "Elemental" phial should affect "elemental" damage. Why would they have two different phials that do the same thing?
SD, You act like the sword mode boost is like huge. That particular switch axe you're using has an element phial. Element Phial's damage boost only effects element damage which in this case is thunder. If you look at the damage formula, you'll see that you hardly ever are boosting you're damage at all because of Uragaan's high resistance to thunder.
@SocialDissonance You must be thinking of a power phial. Element phial boosts elemental damage by 1.25. This is why the Great Inceadeus is better than the Jhen Axe (forgot the actual name). Inceadeus has power phial and Jhen Axe has element phial.
about knives...... My first fight with the Barroth back then lasted 40 minutes with me dying twice and wasting all my resources (and I was armed to the TEETH) and I ended up farming Melynxes to get some first aid meds but all I got was rations and this one knive.... So Barroth is charging in on me and I was seriously thinking this match is over.... and I throw this damn knive and he DIES!!! My facial expression would have been legendary...
SD, could you tell us wich skills you got activated with this armor combination, and how you got it, (what you used to complete the armor and how you gmmed it) same question for sns xD thanks Shep
you miss use switch axes Sword mode does less damage I did an uragaan offiline with the same armor and switch axe (lagi switch axe (Y)) and I only used sword mode when he fell down and I beat it in 7 or so min. so use axe mode
Yes, the tail chip gets a break reward, but, I'd really like to know if you can get that without using a blade. Also, this may be the first time I've doubted your weapon choice. I think the Tough Break (R) would have come out on top here.
@SocialDissonance Actually, it's the Volt Axe (Y) that doesn't get a damage boost, because you're using an Element Phial on a useless element. Tough Break awakens a useful element in sword mode, giving it a damage boost.
@SocialDissonance: Power Phials boost raw damage by 1.25x, Elemental Phials boost the elemental damage by 1.25x, not the raw. State why the Great Incaedus is the best SA and not Black Harvest. In fact Thunderstrike (P) in sword mode is just as powerful as Black Harvest despite them having blue and purple sharpness respectively.
That being said Volt Axe (Y) and Tough Break (R) have the same raw, and both Thunder and Dragon are neglible on Uragaan so it makes no difference in this case.
vial, also use 1.25, however you will be entering it into the elemental
damage portion instead of the raw damage portion of the formula." It's under 2d: Special Variables. I know where you got confused, in 2b Attack Percentages, where the Switch Axe gets a confusing, counterintuitive note suggesting the two phials are the same. That part should be rewritten.
Alos SD, Uraggan takes very, very little damage from Thunder, and only in the head, stomach and tip of the tail. Water > Dragon > Ice > Thunder I believe. Fire just doesn't do any damage at all XD
A note about monsters eating: If a monster manages to eat when it's exhausted it will regain a portion of it's stamina with every bite. While this will take them out of exhaust status, because their stamina is only partially recovered it is easy to knock them back into exhausted status again or let them tire themselves out after only a few attacks.
I love the rolling uppercut. I use it to get a quick shot off before rolling to the side. I use it on Rathalos a lot. It may only be 1 slice, but the amount of times you can use it, the damage adds up quick. Sometimes, I'll get a quick flinch especially from Great Baggi and then I get to unload for a bit.
Question: if ou put a monster in a pitfall trap, can you paralize it with a status weapon? And if you can, will the time just stack up while it's in the trap, or will it come out and just be inmediately paralized?
@L0neWoIfXIII Yes you can paralyze a monster in a pitfall trap, The duration of the paralysis will overlap the pitfall, so if your para lasts 8 seconds, your pitfall lasts 10, and you paralyze the monster right after it falls in, it will be paralyzed for 8 seconds and stuck for 2 seconds after. If you paralyze the monster 8 seconds after it's been in the trap it will stay in the trap for the full duration of the paralysis, essentially extending the duration of your pitfall to 16 seconds.

Snailmask is correct. Axe mode would've probably been stronger with a thunder axe and element phial on Uragaan.
