@FreedomAtRisk u said it brah... this album changed my life in so many ways... every dote seems like it has a memory attached to it for me... its bananas... im blessed to have heard this album. R.I.P. Driz - ur missed. thank you for opening my eyes to real hip hop. im ghost.
Most of those who were young when this came out never even heard it. Everybody is always sayin the youth today unfortunately have never heard real hip hop like this. Well I say true but most of the youth around when this album came out never knew it either. That's truly sad. So accessible yet never really heard by many, now or then. It remains beautiful, it remains underground.
Young Black boys and girls and all children should learn their histories. Learn your before they listen to musician that have been harmed by their government and history. Knowledge of your personal struggles unfortunately isn't enough to inform the uninformed. Learn your history, both good and bad to become strong in will, mind, and proud of yourself. Once you become proud and knowledgeable, there isn't a fool on this Earth that can lie to you or make you feel less. Study David Walker's Appeal
@omoroomoro I agree, most of the kids I go to school with, do not believe that they have African blood in them. Some have even gotten angry at me for telling them that we all have African blood, shame.
@marsche89 I agree you should buy this. But saying this is the last REAL HIPHOP is wrong. I suggest diggin deeper. There is plenty of great underground hiphop still coming out. All artists of Project blowed etc. UNDERGROUND LIVES
"If u can talk u can sing, if u can walk u can dance" .."We r releftion of our ancestores, we'd like to thank u for the building blocks u left us cause your spirits posses us, & god bless u & god bless u"ahh man this track is one of the baddest hip hop/rap tracks ever!!! that bass line is fucking sick!!! One of the best hip hop albums of the '90's..Kweli was at his absolute best & on top of his game on this track...The end is funky as fuck & gives me goose bumps everytime I listen to it!!
even deeper is the previous line... " these cats drink champagne and toast death and pain"... it's so true, but not just within the hip hop community, but also within the mind-set of many of the ghettos in the usa
the schedule said, that he had to perform about 1h20min and he did barely 45min. He didn't seem to be too ambitious.. maybe he was just fucked up, because the streets were late and he had to prepone his show plus the sound was aweful ...
Love this... the song which follows "Memories Live". Homey was spittin some of the illest lyricism. This is the exact reason why Talib Kweli is a top 5 MC.
