  • simplemente el mejor Joe!!! y la maldita ley gano!!!

  • He soldiered on

    ....A gifted gifted man...

  • love his songs and performances but he does not look healthy in this video

  • I love this one, around 2:07 you can distinctly hear Joe join in, you can tell its him, and then he comes on screen. Gives me goosebumps!

  • I love how he keept saying "this one is writen by The Crickets" even he was by far bigger than them. That's a man I respect!!!!!!!!!!

  • Respect to the King !!! that goes for Strummer and Holly

  • What a guitar!

  • can still rock it. looks good for his age here too

  • 0:24-0:27, man, the expression on his face.. it really reminds me of The Clash days!

  • The only difference ive noticed in older Joe is that I can understand him when he speaks now, have you ever seen rude boy??? u cant make out a single word he says

  • I love how at 2:08 - 2:09 you can totally hear Joe's guitar underneath - it has such a distinct sound. RIP Joe, love and miss you.

  • no wonder they are called "JOE Strummer" & the mescaleros

  • They need more energy

  • excelente aporte ojo que el tema no es de the clash , me parece que es de los 50s. pero eso es lo de menos no?

  • check the Mighty Bo + Alex under you tube :

I Fought the Law - The Crickets post Buddy Holly cover

  • i miss joe stummer everyday. but more so since i started relistening to my clash cds and got "global a go go" out of the library. i miss you joseph you left us far to quick and way too early.

  • I saw Joe at Shea stadium when THE CLASH blew the WHO off the stage. It was close but it wouldn't have been had the WHO let THE CLASH use the P.A..Joe was one of the best, one of the good ones.I have been told this by a guy who grew up with him:JOHANSEN.I knew the night I saw that show that I had seen something I'D tell my Grandkids about.I did just that two weeks ago! They filmed it and released it recently.RnR history, glad I was there...R.I.P. Mr.JOE STRUMMER,u left us way too soon,DAMM!

  • Just for the same of accuracy, Sonny Curtis was not the bass player for Buddy Holly and the Crickets. He was a lead guitarist who played w/ Holly before he was successful and joined the reformed Crickets in the 1960's - Holly broke up the Crickets months before he died - years after Holly's death and they recorded some lackluster work. Curtis wrote the Mary Tyler Moore theme song!!! :)

After Holly's death, Curtis joined the reformed Crickets

  • Joe Strummer, punk rock warlord!

  • @Greenday3213 indeed my friend let them be happy that such a great artist comes out and does its thing

  • I wanna punch every person in the crowd that doesn't look excited.. And there's allot

  • Joe cared and that's what made him special as a musician and as a person

  • I always tought this song is originally by Bobby Fuller Four?

  • shit to be only 18 in 2010

and to have missed this man live

  • The other guitarist's backing vocals are so bland and lifeless, he seems so depressed and bored xD

  • @ZakIsWin which shows the awesomeness of Strummer -- he 'outrocks' everyone on stage

  • Raw as hell...Joe so missed bro...RIP

  • I'm 16 and people who lived to see the clash.. U guys are so lucky! I'm here growing up with crap music.... I don't wanna know what music will sound like in the future

  • Brividi...

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaah classic!!!

  • joe ci manchi tanto

  • His singing went to shit when he got his teeth fixed. He never sounded the same. RIP

  • terrible solo parts by Genn

  • @Gouchem28 Anthony Genn is the one with the glasses and blue shirt. The one playing the lead bits is surely Martin Slattery?

  • @maximusv1 Yeah ypo 're right! But check Brand new cadillac

  • True legends never die, he will always be among us!

  • It can't of been nice for him knowing that people only wanted to hear old Clash songs despite having spent over twenty years writing songs afterwards

  • too many performers - drop the useless percussionist and ha! third guitarist>,,,

  • joe never forgot where he came from. he loved THE CLASH songs(even though this one is a cover)...but he still did his originals with the mescalerors...but always remembered the clash...not too many performers ever do that...or not enough.

  • The one thing I like about the Mescaleros is they always play the songs just the way Mick wrote them! They come very close to the released recordings.

  • god I love joe's style on scen xD

  • Comment removed

  • I'd have gave alot of dough for a a front seat.

  • i think there ok but as i always say not as good as the clash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Joe STRUMMER : A true rocker, all the way till the end...

  • Have been thinking bout this for a long time........Am now sure.Strummer is God.

  • How in the hell can these people be in the presence of Joe and not just be going ape shit? This audience looks dead. How sad. RIP Joe - you were the only songwriter that really mattered

  • Hey, hey, don't forget Nick Drake, Nikki Sudden, Andrew Eldritch and Ian Brown. For Example ...

  • RIP Joe, you were the best one!

  • I dont care what these people said...

Joe Strummer fucking rocks!!! He's Great!!!

    Aguante Joe!!!

  • Sonny Curtis grew up with Holly and played in the Holly's original band...

  • Only two guys in the whole world can be this kind of song. Joe Strummer (The Clash) and Johnny Thunders (New york dolls). Others like Greenday etc. can try but they will never reach the energy what Joe & Johnny bring with simple songs like this RIP JOE & RIP JOHNNY

"One day it will please us to remember even this" - Johnny Thunders

  • Brian Setzer from stray cats

  • jello b9iafra bought just a litle more energy i think in the dead kennedys one check it out for yourself im sure u'll agree

  • P.S. . .that guitarist never thought the law . .did he ? . . No wonder he went the journey . .

  • the law always wins. . .when will it be our turn ! !

  • in the dead kennedy's version lol

  • RIP

  • joe you were my best teacher....me and my childrens religon will always be strummerism.....my hero

  • I want to see you joe but you dead.....I cry when i see you!!!

  • Poor Joe he is weak...R.I.P

  • Is it just me or is Joe's guitar never loud enough in Mesceleros performances? In the final chorus of the song, he is strumming with massive intensity (at 2 mins 15 seconds) and you cant even hear it! (even though the other guitarists aren't playing) It boggles my mind.

Great performance none the less. His vocals in this are top notch.

  • R.I.P Joe

  • how is joe playing i fought the law????

he starts the song on the 10th fret???

he's playing it different then the other bands that cover that song??

  • Joe loved to make his tele ring, playing right up the neck!

    I fought the law, mainly D and G chords. 10th fret E string is a D and 10th fret A string is the G.

  • Joe was such a cool guy. He was a tireless advocate for the poor and oppressed people of the world, as well as a musician and songwriter of the 1st order.

Boyo, you left us too soon. You will always be remembered as the best of the best, in my heart anyway.

  • @toterola451 tireless advocate for the poor and oppressed people of the world, think i might be too great words

  • RIP :(

  • Well...If I see this concert and then I see one of CLash concert in 1977....well I almost cry....joe we miss you!

  • just look at the audience, are they sleeping?

  • Better question... were you? ;)

  • OMG THIS SOUND FANTASTIC , I WILL REGRET THAT I NEVER SOW THEM,FUCK LIFE LIKE THAT.....

BELGRADE CALLING LONG LIVE JOE my friend...

RIP , we will meet eachother 1 day :)

  • this was my first festival, i was 15, and i didnt know about strummer and the clash, so did not went to see this.

i will regret this all my life

  • strummer rules!!!BIG TIME!!!

  • joe strummer didnt need a ticket to heaven cus he's god

    r.i.p

    the future is unwritten

  • I remember seeing Joe and the band play in Liverpool around this time and it just blew me away! I couldn't believe how much energy was coming from this man. Being a fan of the Clash for years previously just hadn't prepared for me for what it was actually like to see him play live. I've never seen anyone play with that much spirit before, or since. Truly, a one off. God bless you Joe.

  • why the fuck is the crowd just standing there?

  • It's not how MANY get it. It's WHO gets it.

  • The "crowd" is SHIT!!!! This is legend that playin' for their sorry asses, and they're like: "Joe Strummer, i think I heard 'bout him..." Fuck you pussys in the crowd! JOE STRUMMER R.I.P. I love you. I'll never forget you!

    Sale

  • great show joe u still had it

    the crowd wasn't that bad

  • What's wrong with the crowd there??? It's Joe Strummer who's on stage! Wake up!

  • the rad thing about Joe strummer is that he could be old and still totally kill it on stage. there's some of those guys that it's like, get off, give it up, but man joe could do it, cuz he was that great. super ill.

  • god blessed this man!

  • Fucking great song

  • i actually feel embarassed for them coz of how bad the crowd is

  • Agreed, audience not deserving of a great performer and an iconic song :-(

  • RIP great hero

  • Hendrix was an innovative guitarest, sadly wasted his talent with heroin and the excess of the lifestle he craved, Joe Strummer was and still is a man of the people who without great guitar skills inovated a generation with his lyrics passion and understanding something Hendrix could never deliver with all his sublime talent.

  • Greastest Rocker is Jimi Hendrix but Joe Strummer was a great musician and a energic frontman!

  • Great!! R.I.P. Joe

  • after all those years joe didnt change, he still spoke in a way which evoked respect without demanding it and still sang with the same rebellious passion. TO THE GREATEST ROCKER WHO EVER LIVED!!!!!!!!!

  • daria mi vida por haber estado ahi.......

    the clash is the best

  • He was taken way too soon. He had so much passion for the values he stood for and the music he wrote. The ultimate working class hero. He is sorely missed. RIP JOE. Hope your in a better place.

  • god save the joe.

  • the clash is asome R.I.P joe

  • keep listening to the great Joe Strummer cause through music we can live forever! Miss ya joe, love always

  • He lived a full life and left behind a huge musical legacy... Rest in peace Joe!

  • R.I.P Joe Strummer

  • Why did he have to die?

  • this is the definition of ....NEAT !!!

    AWESOME ..will also suffice

    FUCK YA !!!!

  • The Clash: the band that influenced me to the point that gave me the valor to even confront the ideology of other punks

Joe Strummer: the man who taught me that music is free and universal (and open to be mixed with other styles, too)

    JOE R.I.PUNK.

  • Joe ruled. he will be (and is) sorely missed.

  • Richenbackerpicker who gives a fuck? u smart ass!

  • Always the damn fuckin´law.

  • Sorry to be a pedant Joe, but Sonny Curtis wasn't the Crickets' bass player: he played guitar and sang with them.

  • To be a real pedant you should know that Sonny Curtis wasn't a member of the Crickets. He did play with Buddy, but was never a member of the Crickets.

  • It's true that Sonny Curtis was not a Cricket whilst Buddy Holly was in the band. He joined them after Buddy and The Crickets parted company, and made his first recording with them on the 12th November 1958. He has been a member of the Crickets on and off ever since, sometimes singing lead vocals, and sometime just taking the lead guitar behind other singers such as Earl Sinks. He recorded 'I Fought The Law' with them (lead guitar and vocals) in 1959 at Bell Sound Studios in New York.

  • See my comments above re Sonny Curtis and The Crickets.

  • Hey, at least he didn't say "Bobby Fuller"

  • You should stop picking on dead men...

  • Riposa in pace,Joe!

  • RIP Joe AKA the God of Punk Rock

  • rest in peace joe! you were great..

  • what's up with Joe's guitar at the end? seems to have cut out.

  • thats the orignal singer of the clash right cause idk im a new fan

  • You are correct.

  • 人生には勝ったと 私は思う

  • あぁ、ジョー・ストラマーは死んだのである。

    彼は、法に勝ったのか、負けたのか?

  • Oh, I had no idea that Strummer did concerts after The Clash. Seems like a great show though. It's such a contrast to sex pistols that I saw a couple of weeks ago. They only seemed to be in it for the money...it was such an act

  • hahah what kind of noob would go see the sex pistols TM?

  • i saw them both and the pistols were in it for the money which is so in the spirit of punk to turn your back on the things you rely on to survive in their case punk rock itself

But i also saw the mescaleros and very few things in my life will ever compare. there were very few places i'd rather have been. Joe acted like he was 20 when he was really 50

    now thats dedication!

  • i saw the pistols recently and came away very disappointed with them, although i should have known better. i also saw Joe and The Mescaleros 3 times (can even remember 2 of them!) and he was worth every penny, great nights.

  • What a shame Joe died so young...50! What a loss!

  • Joe Strummer kicked ass.Fuck off who doesn't think so.

  • Poor Joe, My Uncle new him once and he played with him too.... Poor Joe...

  • Saw him some 4 years ago in Milano. And...some 23 years ago... Grea song. L.Y.A.

    rip

  • FUCK YOU POLOMARCO34

  • the back up singer is lame.

  • what the hell is wrong with that lame back up singer and guitar player ......... hes singing like hes fucking asleep... he doesn't deserve to be on that stage man... second: how come joe died so young its so unfair.......I dont get it

  • didn't joe strummer die in 2002? man he could sing

  • YES, HE DIED IN 2002

  • That bass drum sounds terrible. Otherwise its a good rendition.

  • There is a god. You just dont know it. lol.

  • Wrong again. No god... But Joe lives on...

  • Joe is God, or one of them anyway.

  • RIP Joe Strummer..

I guess God needed an amazing frontman for his band up in heaven..:D

  • R.I.P joe strummer

  • germany.

  • anyone know from where this was taken from?

  • Bizarre-Festival 21.08.1999 Germany

  • joe strummer....watch and admire a total musically adapted human being....god bless!

  • he was taken too soon...R.I.P.

  • That very last " I Fought the Law" line in the song

    sounds so good

  • it sounded good but it almost sounded like he wasn't loud enough.

  • Without this man, music would be nothing

  • We miss you Joe, may you Rest In Peace...

  • RIP Joe Strummer

  • Rest in Peace.

  • I wonder how many songs that little tele has played?

  • The bigger question is what happened to it. You could probably just make a movie about that magic tele.

  • Some say they buried it with him!

  • As far as I know his family keep it some place safe. It was part of an exhibition in Cleveland not too long ago though. :-)

  • HIS LEGS ARE AS FAMOUS AS ELVIS HIPS:D

  • the clash: the only band that matters

joe strummer: the only man that matters

  • Rest In Peace dear Joe and thanks for what you did for generations of people.

  • Good old Joe, fuckin legend.

  • This man is Hard Core!!!!!!!!!!

  • "Strummer died on December 22, 2002 in his home at Broomfield in Somerset, the victim of an undiagnosed congenital heart defect.[5][3] His estate was valued at just under £1 million, and he left all the money to his wife Lucinda."

Joe is gone, but he will never be forgotten.

    ~

  • AARRRRRRRRRRRRRR,this stuff rock my balls!!!!

  • It rocks my heart and soul :D

  • I agree with the person who said the guitar solo lacked energy. The other guitarist fails to bend the note worth crap 3 times in a row. Does he have no "ear" or is he supremely lazy? Otherwise awesome song and Joe is great.

  • The Clash were and still are the best band that i have ever seen live!!!

Just wish i had seen the Mescaleros too.

I miss and salute you Joe strummer, RIP..

  • my friend , could you be so kind to share with us some moments from that happening ?

  • i seen the clash 7 times, twice with terry chimes on drums, and 5 times in the 84 line up, and i seen the mescaleros, think joe done along with other stuff, 17 strummer/jones, if ya like songs, was fucking brilliant, and he was totally relaxed, didnt have to be tight like in the clash

  • I'll forever regret not being of the punk era because it means I'll never see the Clash live.

REST IN PEACE JOE STRUMMER! YOUR MUSIC LIVES ON!

  • nice guitar telecaster

  • There was only 1 band forever - THE CLASH

I fought the law and law won, finished , the END....

    Greetings from Serbia !

  • Hell yea

  • green day are not punk.. i think that to say that u are punk u need to ave lived out all the oppressing that many
