well lovin the booty dance at the start but the stances at 0.59 kokustoduch needs to be straightened up, also sidekick should be straight to knee not flung out at 1.04 not to mention the chick on the left fully falls off balance :O not great GKR form TBH

so what if it is not shotokan, gkr is a mix of Goju-kai and and Shotokan. and the ceremony is to teach respect and dicipline

Respect and discipline are all very well and should be encouraged but what about the karate! I don't care if its 'do it your own way' RYU, all I said was that its not shotokan. Whatever style it is though, its still lacking substance.

I found out that this version is from the GKR style of Karate. GKR is Go-Kan-ryu, and it combines katas from both Goju-kai and Shotokan.

Well, there are many different versions of Bassai-Dai, so techniques would change from one teacher to the next. The salutation is very Chinese like, while the Japanese changed the salutation for the kata by having the closed hand and open hand down by their waist.
