First of all, forgive my english. I'm brazilian. But, talking about pugs, I have one, too.

And yes, he is fat. I asked the veterinarian about exercise, and she said me NO! She told me that pugs have problems to breath because of his flat nose.

Pugs also have short paws, heavy body. A pug will never be a athele, who owns one, must know it. If he is getting fat, we need to control what he eats. Light food.

@jomuthafish Pugs are most definitely not meant to be fat. Their are so many health reasons why, I can't even begin to explain. Sorry for being harsh, but you're a terrible owner. I own two pugs myself and as soon as one began to look a little "chubby" we immediately began a new diet for him. The least you can do for your pug is keep its weight under control. Pugs aren't "born fat", and they sure as hell don't open their food and feed themselves. your'e the one making him fat. God bless your dog

It is not too fast at all. Dogs need exercise for the same reasons humans do. Opal is clearly being watched closely.This is not hurting this dog in any way at all. I've noticed that the negative comments are mostly coming from non-pug owners. I have 3 of the chub-butts, and even my 14 year old one seeks to go out and do a bit of bouncing and trotting around...this is after a small stroke this Spring. I watch them closely too, esp. in the Summer. Domestic animals need exercise just like we do

no that is you for thinking that overfeeding a dog to the point its fat and unhealthy and then running it on a treadmill till it has a heart attack. maybe you need to learn how to look after an animal properly. and it clearly states that pugs can die from overheating they are very delicate animals not that you seen to care. Yes, you are correct when saying that pugs can overheat, HOWEVER, they CAN walk, play, swim, and even run on a treadmill, like all other dogs. I've had pugs my whole life, and I'm telling you, this is not abuse, it's not wrong, it's cute, AND, if the pug didn't like it, it would get off! Nobody is forcing it to stay on. Very cute!
