  • So sad

  • Did they ever find luna?

  • very sad... :(

  • thats a shame. i would have loved to live there and had a whale to play with on water. sorry to everyone who knew him, i dont think it was an accident either.

  • I named my iPod Luna

  • @framptone25 GAY

  • sorry but i feel he was where he wanted to be he enjoyed being in nootka sound...and the First Nations are not to blame for him not being moved...he loved nootka sound...and he was killed...accidents happen...and everything happens ofr a reason.

  • Terrible

  • Rest In Peace, Luna. You were too beautiful for this place.

  • I find it ironic all of the marine biologists, scientists, and whoever else took part in "watching" him, urged people to stay away from him, yet they all interacted and touched him, its in numerous videos. A bit hypocritical I think...If the whale wanted human companionship then give it to him...just closely monitor it.

  • if they moved the orca, wuldnt it just come bac? they remember things very well, im pretty sure it wuld hve found its way bac within a week if they had tryed to move him.

  • As usual. Humans kill yet another whale.

  • it seems that luna died where we was happy, at least.

  • what was the excuse to not move him to his pod? did they even have one or was it just locals keepin there tourist attraction? basicly they turned him into a semi pet! no nets but no where 2 go!

  • That Orca would be a live today if those first nation natives had aloud him to be captured. Like spinger, scientist more than likely would have taken him to San Juan and dropped him off with his family.

  • you don't know that, he may have been shunned by the other orcas, and left alone in a more dangerous zone. Or, he may have been sold to an aquarium. . .

  • I do know that. It talks about in the documentary Saving Luna and its implied here.

It's quite obvisous ancientmidnight. And, its obvious you know nothing about Luna's story. Let me tell you. He strayed too far from his pod and wound up in Nootka Sound. There he lived for years. He began seaking attention from people. He died in 2006 when a boat porpellor hit his head. How bout you read of up on the Orca first before making comments. It's obvious you don't know him or his story. Goodness...

  • I was talking about 'what if'. There is no guarantee that he'd still be alive if people had allowed him to be moved.

If Luna had been captured, who's to say that he wouldn't have been sold? Maybe I'm being sadistic, but I have trouble believing they would pass up the chance for profit, just look at Taiji. We were sending letters there pleading for that pod to be freed, and no one listened, even Seaworld bought one.

Again, as I said in my message to you, I apologize for not being clear.

  • Have you heard of Springer? He was in the same situation as Luna. But, he was captured, rehabilitated, and then reunited with is pod. His family welcomed him back. Why couldn't the samething happen to Luna? But, I'm not going to denie that there were probably aquariums out there contemplating his capture for profit. I apologize for being so disrespectful.

  • I was very rude to you. I should have just politely can calmly explained myself instead of just shooting my mouth off. Rarely am I like that but, I do make mistakes. Again, I apologize.

  • *And calmly, not can camly.*

  • The whole fricken point!! They should have captured him!!! He would have been safe!! HE loved people!! It had been 5 years and his pod still hasn't been back. Why and the hell did the scientists care what the ppl thought, they never do any other time? Where the hell was Sea World at or Marine Biologists? If this was another "animal" they would had been right on it..OOOOOOO people make me soooo mad.

People have no hearts and no brains anymore. Nobody cares about anything. That poor damn whale.

  • omg poor luna :´(

  • Did they ever find his body?

  • omg thats terrible poor luna, what year was this??

  • did anyone ever consider banning the use of motor boats in the area? The motors are the true pests, as the orca is the native inhabitant. People point fingers and try to lay blame for the death of this animal. He was killed by the selfishness of man. How much did people really care? there's always a limit right..?

  • How could you call 'man' selfish? They wanted to move it, but they didn't. The animal would have benefitted from being moved. It was lost from its pod and couldn't go back. Don't let your feelings get in the way of common sense.

  • The whale had a habit of swimming in front of boats to slow them down and had several scars from other close calls with propellers. As to banning the use of motor boats you can't shut down an entire harbor for a whale no matter how special he is. Unfortunatly the whale brought this on himself because he did not learn that boats are threats like other orcas. still poor luna.
