  • thank you for the video! Im going on a t shirt reconstructing craze o.e

  • Yessssss thank you!

  • awesome video, thanks

  • Hi Bri, just wanted to say thank you for posting this video because it is very informative and easy to understand. I was wondering, will this work with football tops (soccer jersey's)? Can you post a video like that from a large football top to a small one? I know that A LOT of people would watch it because a video like that doesn't exist right now.

  • this is great guuuurl! :D

  • So I tried to order my brother a tshirt and I accidentally got a size too large. Besides the shirt just being plain too fat, the shoulder seams are also too far apart. Would this still be an ok method to use for the shirt/ how could I take those in?

  • thanx a lot..im a skinny rugby player..all my shirts are like gigantic..this help me alot (Y)

  • Thank you thank you thank you THANK YOU. :3

  • Can this work with hoodies???

  • Thanks! I've tried everything to shrink my Jack Daniels Shirt but the darn thing still wouldn't shirt >.< hopefully this works :D

  • wud this work on a dress shirt? Iv got school shirts that are really baggy and look aweful on but not so bad if it was fitted :)

  • Bayside and four year strong! :D

Does this also work on tanktops?

  • @driesvanbedaf Absotootely!

  • @brianagayle Okay thank you!!

  • THANKIES!

  • ITS TTTSHIRT AND NOT SHIRT

  • What if it's too small?

  • This is great! Thank you for the wonderful tutorial ^.^

  • thank you so much for being straight forward(: this helped a lot

  • oh thank you for this. the other videos show me how to cut and knots the sides of the shirts which i think is fun for t shirts every now and then but I find it to be a little tacky. I hope my tshirt turns out well

  • Wow your hair makes you look hotter!!

  • would this work for guys? and sweaters? lol realised how funny this sounds

  • @fO0L3D Haha, yes. Sweaters are a little tricky because of the material... If it is a knit sweater, I would advise that you look for more information. If it is a sweatshirt material (like a hoodie), you're fine.

  • Where can I get patterns that are new?

  • My shirt is fine but I am fat. I will just cut out my fat and sew my skin back together. Thanks!

  • that is really cool!!

thank you for posting this :D

  • @brianagayle you have a bayside shirt! and i love bayside! and this simple diy tutorial helped me alot. (:

  • I'm curious, what kind of setting/stitching do you use on the sewing machine for this kind of alteration?

I want to test this out on some stuff I get that's ridiculously ill fitting

  • it is like magic!!...but with more elbow grease

  • Wow...ur hair makes u look sooo hot :P

  • Arcade Fire in back. Nice.

  • your video was the most helpful one i have seen ever. exactly how i wanted my t-shirts! thanks!

  • Awesome video! I have about 5 t-shirts I was giving and there all XL! I am a Med. Thanks for the great video.

    Eric

  • Yes thank you so much!! :):)

  • Great idea!! I have so many shirts that I want to re size that have been sitting in drawers for years!!!

  • Awesome video. Going to dust off my sewing machine and find projects to do.

  • Comment removed

  • thanks Briana, this vids awesome! =D

  • thank you so much for this!

i got an awesome sweatshirt in the mail today but its HUGE because they only have extra larges left (and i needed a medium) and now i know how to fix it :)

  • @bonesy222 I usually just use a normal straight stitch, mainly because I'm not a very advanced seamstress. There are probably way better methods that are more secure. I just sew back over any holes that happen.

  • Hey Briana,

Is it possible to alter the collar of a t-shirt? I've lost weight and my t-shirt no longer fits.

  • @Jabboi I don't have any easy foolproof methods, but I'm sure there's something great on here :)

  • @bonesy222 Of course! You can totally do that.

  • Bayside love them I have a tee but its the girl kind its pretty form fitting

  • This looks so easy and totally awesome! I got this Darth Vader shirt for my birthday, but it's so baggy and makes me look awful. Definitely gonna try this out. You make it sound so simple. I love it!

  • nice tits

  • Clever girl. I was watching an interview with Tom Ford and the interviewer was asking what the secret of looking good in clothing, even casual T-shirts, and his answer was - tailoring. Have everything you buy, even t-shirts, tailored to your body and you'll look much, much better for it. Thanks for sharing this video, even guys can benefit from it.

  • ARCADE FIRE YES!!!

  • I need to learn how to do this shit, I have so many shirts that I like but don't fit me well

  • This is amazing. I have sweatshirts that are too big and now I know how to fix them. Thanks so much :)

  • I love thissss

  • You are genius. Thank you!

  • Took me a few hours but my shirt is all done and actually came out really well! cheer mate!

  • Im going to try and turn a creme color large long sleeve thermal into a medium short sleeve henley style without a sewing machine and no skill what so ever heh, wish me luck

  • your really cute :)

  • @bonesy222 Nope, you can leave the hood how it is.

If the shirts don't line up in length, I would just continue the line to the bottom, keeping consistent with the width of the area you're going to cut off. Does that make sense?

  • @bonesy222 I use the reverse button when I get to the end of the shirt. I reverse and go forwards a few times within 1/2 inch to reinforce it.

  • Y U CUT BAYSIDE SHIRT?

  • @DaniEnthaupten SO I CAN WARE IT.

  • Great tutorial. Would I follow your same instructions if I wanted to turn a baggy long sleeve tee into a fitted long sleeve? Thanks! (^_~)b

  • @renboekhorst For sure! And if you don't have a long sleeved shirt to reference, I would put it on inside out and pinch and mark the fabric to figure out how tight you want the sleeves. Then just sew along those marks :)

  • Four Year Strong and Bayside. Nice.

  • great video. this was really helpful for a beginner like myself. very easy to follow and not to daunting for a newbie :D

  • Can it be done on a polo shirt? :)

  • I like the arcade fire

  • I am so glad I looked this up instead of trying it out my own way because this looks much easier. Thank you so much!

  • As a guy who has NEVER used a sewing machine...but just bought one today...what stiching pattern do you use when using the machine?

  • @CraigOutpost31 Hmm, I usually just use the straight one! ---------- I'm not too experienced with the other ones. :)

  • Ahh, thank you so much! You saved my A Day To Remember shirt! (:

  • Omg thank you so much now all I want for this years x-mas is a sewing machine :D now to try and explain to my parents why (-.-")

  • What if the shoulders are too wide?

  • Thank you for your video! Your stuff is great!!!

  • boomtown????

  • Boomtown haha

  • Yaaaay! this is super helpful because I need to buy big shirts for length!

  • @Loserillo Yep, that's what I do! :)

  • what can i do if my shirt has elastic around the sleeves? if i sew on it, i'll look weird

  • Does this work with mens t-shirts too?

  • @icklerob yeah but usually only the arms are the problem,

  • @GizmoMofo7 Aw ok. Thanks for the reply =) I find it difficult getting t-shirts (well, most clothes really...) that fit me as I am only 5'3 tall... Kids stuff usually fits ok lol thanks for the reply will give it a go sometime

  • i typed in how to shiit and i got this

  • Also I have a question, does doing this ever make shirts shrink a lot?

  • @TheCunningAndFought Sorry I haven't replied to this! I would suggest washing and drying the shirt first. It shouldn't shrink more after that.

  • Dude your hair is really cute!! And I need to do this, like, I have a ton of band shirts that are HUGE and I bought them because I liked the designs on them better than the girl ones xD

    Thank you!!!

  • What's the name if that song?

  • @zonarson I think it's Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)

  • Just the how-to I needed! Can you tell me - what about a t-shirt collar that is too big/wide? Is there an easy fix?

  • @qsanti I've never done it, I can't think of an easy way. Maybe cut a new neckline?

  • awesome. i luv you!

  • @returninginsurgent <3 Thanks!

  • i am going to follow this vid, but how would you make a neckline larger (more rounded) to make the shirt look more feminine?

  • @fillmyhole22 I have never successfully sewn a new neckline. I usually just cut mine (and there are lots of videos telling you how to cut different necklines.

  • Love the tip about evening up the armpits. I've doubled my "cool shirt" collection thanks to ur quick and easy instructions. Thanks!!

  • thanks so much! its worked great :DD

  • thanks brea! appreciate your demo and found it very helpful - blessings!

  • Would this work on stretchy camis? I have a bunch of brand new camis/tanks from Abercrombie that are too big on me.

  • @glowshimmerglow Heck yes! It will actually probably work better because you don't have to worry about sleeves.

  • Thanks for posting this! You make it seem so easy.

  • hey i like your hair haha and i also really like the skull hoodie that you did

  • @17sk8rchick Thank you! :D

  • my bayside shirt is the one i wanted to alter. haha.

  • @annamalous Bayside is the best.

  • you are freaking adorable

  • Wait... Does this work with plad tshirts too????

  • @ggcristobal Absolutely!

  • Thank you great tip!!!!

  • Thanks for this tutorial! I'm a beginning sewer and I couldn't believe how easy you made this! All the other tutorials I was finding were talking about un-constructing the t-shirt entirely, and THEN sewing it back together.

  • love the video! very useful! thank you very much.

problem!!!! out about shoulder line? the shoulder like is too wide, how can i adjust that easily?

  • BAYSIDE!

  • now how the hell do u work a sewing machine.. that is the ques

  • One question: WILL IT WORK IF U SEW IT WIT A NEEDLE

  • GREAT VIDEO:) Really helps :) THANKS!!!

  • @Jenifer10101 Anything you can do with a sewing machine you can do with a needle. The process is just a lot longer.

  • This is awesome! Thank you so much for taking time to make this video! I recently lost about 60lbs and so all my shirts look gigantic on me, this is a great way to "get new clothes" on a budget! :-)

  • very very nice :)

  • Wow, your video is perfect, I'm so glad for having found it 'cause I stupidly bought all my Hardcore/Metalcore T-Shirts too large ><... Thank you (cuttie) ! :)

  • does this work with cardigans?

  • @rednesredfriend Yeah! Just make sure you button it first. Be careful though, different fabric will fray differently. You might need to do some further research depending on what the cardigan is made of...

  • I think for hoodie you just need to put the hood inside..or flip the hood

  • @venomdead2 The hoodie is the exact same process. All you need to do is zip it, turn it inside out, trace a well fitting hoodie or shirt, and sew it. :)

  • how about the collar? its too big

  • @AzfarulGiantz That is a great question. When I was younger and made more time for things like this, I would cut and sew new necklines, like vnecks or boatnecks. I just tried to post some video links in here but I don't think it lets you post links in comments... So I suggest looking for a video. I found a couple of good ones.

  • @brianagayle oh thanks! I never thought that you will reply this!! thanks so much ^_^!! you're rock!!

  • Awesome tutorial, although I feel retarded for not having thought of this before. I have some band shirts that are waaaaaaay too big for me... not anymore!

  • can you make a video that shows how to make a smaller shirt fit?

  • Thank You! I've lost 50# in the past few months, and although I'm thrilled that I have, I'm also devastated that none of my clothes fit me anymore! I WILL be trying this. Just bought at sewing machine at a 2nd hand store.

  • @hurricanebrian That is AWESOME! Way to go, and good luck.

  • Fuck i wish i was a woman so i owned a sewing machine... -.- i need to do this

  • @MrWaterman080 use your mom's sewing machine or go buy one

  • thank you it help lots!!!

  • this is helpful, good work

  • cute

  • Oh my god, this is sooo helpful. I have so many shirts I adore, but never fit me because I have a large bust and a small waist. This totally helped! Thanks!

  • Express yourself with fine custom t-shirts and custom apparel. Create your own t-shirt by uploading your photo, design or text. Check out printfly on google and create a variety of t-shirt.I am sure you will love it..

  • for all you guys i have a simpler method.. either marry her or find a girl that knows how to use the sewing machine.. Im working on the second option..

  • can you do the turtorial for the hoodie, cuz i'm afaird i'll jack it up :3

  • So simple, yet so profoundly genius. I've been failing at this for like three years. I think now I can conquer the too-baggy t shirt!

    Woot to you, Madame.

  • @WentasticBomBastic Thank you! I'm so glad to help. Let me know how it goes :)

  • wow! That is so cool and ima dude. I definitely need a sewing machine. Would you know how to let out a waist line on a hanes v-neck t-shirt? I like my shirts loose around the waist so as to give the illusion that I dont hava beer belly. Longer length t-shirts on guys is not really cool anyway so.......................could you help?

  • @countofmonetcristo80 Just use a shirt as a pattern that fits the way you want the other one to fit. Quite simple :p

  • Uwah~I thought I was going to have a hard time (I haven't sewn in a while ^_^;) but this is really simple! and cute and it works!! :) thanks you!!!

  • Woo!

  • Wow! What a quick easy tip! Thanks, girl!

  • thank you sooooo much, this was exactlyyy what iwas looking for. (:

  • OMG i so need this videooooooooo thanks girlll

  • Nice this is a much easier way then others I have seen!

  • What about how to make a too smal shirt fit :(

  • Stupid question.. But would this possibly work with guys shirts? I'm just too skinny for pretty much everything... but to tall for tigher/smaller shirts so am force to buy baggy unfitted horrible looking stuff...

  • @TheAntiAss Of course! :) Good luck.

  • @brianagayle I Have A question, I Was recently Donated a Trench Coat, a newer model but its a real one, with the water proof fabric, But by FAR way to large for my skinny butt :| How can I resize something like that? Like The Arms, And back hang like a foot away from my body :( Thanks for any Reply's :]

  • @TheAntiAss thank you! same problem here.

  • @TheAntiAss I'm not sure why I didn't reply to this, but absolutely it works with any shirt. Or any item of clothing as long as you think hard enough about it :)

  • thank you. very well done :)

  • wood this work on 100% cotton too?

  • @Rex944 Absolutely!

  • OMG I love bayside! :D

  • but what if the shoulders are too broad? how can you make them narrower?

  • Nice Bayside shirt!

You're so cute with the shark shirt xD

  • Thank you, this is so simple to do and now I can rearrange the bigger shirts I have. Really appreciate the simplicity that you did!

  • Nice Rawr toward the end : )

  • Great video! Thank you!!!

  • Sweet, had no idea how tailoring worked before..

  • Briana,

Do you have any cool techniques if the shirt is too small? I'm guessing you would need to add some fabric? idk message me back

  • thank U‼
