I don't even remember starting to play piano, I was 5 when my parents bought one.
I started seriously when I was 14, without a teacher at that time. When I was 16 I found a marvelous nun to teach me, Soeur Annonciade DiPalma. Then I switched with Suzanne Goyette in private for 2 years, then at Montreal's Conservatoire for 2 years.
Whats funny is that im playing the exact same pieces right now ^_^.
Technicality is brilliant, although a few mistakes on the Toccata, but i think you could afford to be a bit more musical. You don't get much more impressionistic than Debussy and i think you should use more pedal and make both a little more legato.
Dear Guilhaume, congratulations for your performance. Debussy's Clair de Lune is one of my favourites. Next year I intend to participate of the Pianoamateurs Cmpetition in Paris and I'm working on two preludes of Villa-Lobos. Could you, please, tell me if you have recorded your presentetion, I mean by yourself,or if it's possible to acquire the recording at the competition.
excellent job! it's thomas yu writing here. i heard this performance outside the room with my ear to the door. so glad to get to see it now! sounds great and glad to see video up for the paris competition! i put a few videos up myself. keep playing and give me an email some day!
Thank you! :-) Toccata is not that difficult, it's just a nervous piece and I'm nervous in front of public, so I lost control in the end... Still, when you break it into patterns, it's easier to assimilate with a sense of security. So I'm not a magician, those are very general skills that can be learned and applied everywhere.
Also, one has to play pieces that fits himself... and Debussy fits me! As an amateur, I have this priviledge: I play whatever I want!
nice job! how long have you been playing?

You should learn the Prokofiev Toccata next lol! ;) Jking it's probably the most total opposite piece from that you could ever play.
